Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023)
For under 10 year olds
This was a hot mess from start to finish. The best bits were when I took a nap during. She has the appeal of karaoke singer and the moves of of your mum after a few drinks. This concert is relevant for Screaming girls who wrote in their diaries and fantasise about Prince Charming and Disney films. To be honest her vocals are just average and I know people rave about her writing but those people have had limited exposure to music. This was overhyped had 20 too many songs. I would only recommend this to anyone struggling to sleep. It's as exciting as a headache. She is not a great performer it all feels phoney.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Overrated overhyped overly long
I really tried to watch this with an open mind. I didn't know anything about the premise. But every person was raving about it. I have no idea how Robert Downey Jnr won any award let alone be nominated. He was awful. This film dragged and dragged and took 4 breaks to get through it. In the end I still had no idea what I just watched. The only positive was Emily blunt and Josh Hartnett. There will be no best editing awards as this movie went on longer than the pandemic. I can see why Barbie was so popular competing with this snooze fest. If you do watch this. Set aside 5 hours, and a pillow as it's very drab.
C*A*U*G*H*T (2023)
Why did Sean Penn say yes?
Terrible from start to finish. Sean Penn, Matthew Fox and Susan Sarandon are like fish out water with this cast of nobodies. It's just not good, clunky writing, overacting and it seems like the only way Aussie content gets green lit is if they snag an international star or two. Hard to believe the cast of Dead Man Walking ended up in this D grade show. I would not recommend this to anyone. I guess money talks as I have no idea how A listers said yes to this. I'd rather rewatch Sean penns bomb Shanghai surprise. Then sit through this. It's been highly promoted but seems most money was spent on advertising than script!
The Idol (2023)
It's no Euphoria
It's no Euphoria at all. The acting pulls euphoria and the graphic material. The acting on the idol is very hard to not cringe at. Cliches are left right and Centre and it's like watching showgirls and sliver. The performances are just not strong. The best thing is the use of Music especially Madonnas Like A Prayer. It was captivating and the show needed more of those moments.
Euphoria had a point and epic side characters. This is just expensive, silly, not even close to showing the entertainment industry. It's quite silly when it had the chance to show a female music artist in the height of popularity.
Ted Lasso (2020)
First two seasons are good the final is cheesy
I enjoyed season 1 and 2 by season 3 it got so cheesy I felt like I was watching full house. The characters charm worn out. And Jason sudekis's Ted lasso seemed to fall to supporting not lead character. The final episode was barely watchable. Good decision to end it at 3 seasons. It got over the top and very cliche. The acting remained good but the storylines involving the team bonding was embarrassing and unbelievable. I looked forward to it finishing by season 3. The UK / American mix got irritating. It was good until it wasn't. I'm sure it'll scoop awards season again. But there are better shows than season 3.
Madonna: Gambler (1985)
Fan Favourite finally released 2022
1985 hit song "Gambler" has finally made its global streaming and digital retail debut - more than 37 years after its initial release. Previously, the song (in its 7" version) was only available on the Vision Quest film soundtrack (released by Geffen Records), while the dance mix and instrumental mix were previously available decades ago on physical singles outside of the U. S. "Gambler" has never been included on any Madonna album. It was Madonna's personal request," according to a representative at Rhino To release the song finally.
American fans did not get a proper single release for "Gambler," an official music video was played by U. S. MTV for a few weeks in late June and early July in 1985. But Fans who attended Madonna's The Virgin Tour concert that summer also saw her perform the track live. The song hit the Australian Top 10.
Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You (2020)
This is not a documentary
After watching Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, pink docos recently this was basically a concert with a few snippets backstage. I would not call this a documentary. I learnt nothing about her orsaw an interesting perspective on touring. This simply should have been a concert special for fans. Thank god for the fast forward button. Boring and super camp. I enjoyed it when it finished and can never hear her sing again. It was only for fans. Where other artist documentary's show you something that can change perspective or appreciate an artist. This was so bland, so camp, and only for die hard fans.
Nope (2022)
The least scariest thriller horror 1/10
I had to leave the cinema it put me to sleep.
Really really really slow, predicate and lame acting.
Easily worst film of the year and I had to sit through Thor.🙄
This genre has been over done to the point of predictability.
Daniel kaluuya's acting is laughable.
Avoid this film it's a big NOPE from me and the 8 people sitting in the cinema
I wouldn't even recommend it if it was free tickets.
Any scare was a laugh. Did not deserve a theatrical release. So many films that don't get that luxury. Yet this film somehow wasted big screen space.
Last Jordan peele film I will ever watch.
Two thumbs down!
It's about as riveting as showgirls.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
What a final let down. Such high expectations!
If they had focused more on how awesome it would of looked day to day for Dinosaurs and animals and humans co-existed after the previous films. It could have been jaw dropping.
So many characters the dinosaurs were more like extras!
This is the first film I had no jumps or felt zero tension.
Thank god we finally saw the Dimetrodon.
I just wish after films the plesiosaur got some screen time.
Sad it was in production this long and we got an action film not a dinosaur film.
Lady of the Manor (2021)
Justin Long one of the worst actors of the last two decades
If I ever see Justin Long cast in anything which is never any role anyone remembers I run for a book!!
It seems talent doesn't matter.
At least Ryan Phillipe is in this.
Justin long please retire.
The Shrink Next Door (2021)
I really wanted to love this.......
But it was boring. Paul Rudd great on the big screen - doesn't resonate on the small screen.
Will Ferrell is good but basically it was not engaging I gave up after ep 5.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
Ben Platt nominee worst actor Razzie deserved
Ben Platt's acting was so lame. I watched with my hands over my eyes.......refund please.
I have no idea how this was made!
It's just like a bad episode of Dawson's Creek.
I doubt anyone will remember this film once watched.
Sex Education (2019)
Avoid like covid
Such a tacky stereotype show made wordless by the lack of in empathetic acting from Ncuti Gatwa.
So cringe worthy.
Jonas Brothers Family Roast (2021)
Not a roast more like a bad idea
Pete Davidson the only funny thing in this.
Roasts should be scathing I felt like I was watching an Ellen special so bad.
I'm only giving it 2 for Pete.
Batwoman (2019)
Woeful acting
Ruby Rose is simply a headline in Australia notoriously difficult and is only remembered for a short stint as an MTV VJ. Why she was cast with very limited acting experience is sad. There's so many great actresses that are good at what they do. Acting. Ruby is good at being a difficult D grade celebrity.what a flop.
Sex Education (2019)
Avoid like covid
Such a tacky stereotype show made wordless by the lack of in empathetic acting from Ncuti Gatwa.
So cringe worthy.
The Bachelor Australia (2013)
Osher Guinsberg is cringeworthy
Osher must host every show on network 10 and it's overkill there are some great hosts and better variety.
The only season watchable was when Locky Gilbert was bachelor.
It's more a 15 min of fame show for the botoxed girls.
Avoid avoid avoid!
Australian Survivor (2016)
Impressive production
Jonathan Lapaglia is a fantastic host.
And it would be hard to live up to the skills of Jeff Probst. I love U. S.survivor so had lots of expectations.
I was not disappointed the camera work, the angles, the contestant selection and the challenges are better then the U. S the effort that's gone into the challenges actually surpass the U. S. version. Less puzzles more endurance.
The contestants get more airtime and it's impressive.
Locky, Dave, Benji, Henry, Luke, what legends.
So addictive!
Georgia (1995)
Deserved more acclaim for acting and the soundtrack
Jennifer Jason Leigh is so mesmerizing even in moments where she fails and crashes, it's still so entertaining and vulnerable. You just can't not love Sadie.
The acting and singing are Oscar worthy, especially when the sisters are dueting on a Mare Winningham song " if I wanted" it's so well performed that you don't care Sadie can't sing.... It's her persona that's captivating.
Powerful top 5 of favorite films!
Cosmic Sin (2021)
Brandon Thomas Lee stick to The Hills
Wow his acting is as good as his Pamela Anderson Lee on Baywatch. Avoid this film.
In the Heights (2021)
Unwatchable
There's a lot more talented people than Lin Manuel Miranda. Over hyped. Overacted and the main actor Anthony Ramos is so bland.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Really best picture?
I would agree if it was best picture at the Razzies.
This was woeful. I hated every second.
Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry (2021)
Finally a documentary that shows the artist warts and all
Just great snd I wasn't a fan but became one. Witnessing the birth of songs, clips, tours and an embarrassing drunk Orlando Bloom made this feel real. Impressive
Shawn Mendes: In Wonder (2020)
Good but could have been so much more
It's sweet just safe way too safe. After witnessing the style of Billie Eilish's doco. I can't help but wonder how much better this could have been. It just felt too PG and Disney. I'm positive there was so much great unused footage that could have shaped this from good to iconic!
Black Panther (2018)
One of the worst films I've sat through
Wow I'm baffled at the money this made.... I could not wait til it was over, glad I saw it for free!
