Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
Sends wrong moral message
I haven't read the book.
But I find that Ani's act to leave the boyfriend just before their marriage is not justifiable, when all he was doing is supporting& believing in her ( to write her own story, go to do the MFA in London ). She's destroying the life of another person who genuinely seemed to love her & has nothing to do with her trauma.
The storyline is interesting but the whole movie is shallow and doesn't put enough emphasis on the real PTSD trauma and the survivors' non-dealing with it/lack of help from the closest to them. I would've loved to see more of the mom-daughter storyline as that would've emphasized it.
Resident Evil (2022)
Quite enjoyable actually
I quite liked it actually! Silly and of course there are annoying things in it but I actually love it that the killing of zombies isn't a big part in the series and it's more about storytelling. I haven't played/seen the video games so I can't comment re that, also the series has nothing to do with the films but who cares it's an OK series to binge-watch and I liked the characters.
The Bear (2022)
Just perfect
The characters are real and good, the situations are believable and the story is great too, Well as much as a drama can be 'great'...The series balances on fine jokes besides the serious mental challenges the guys play. My boyfriend is a fine dining chef, and he went through the same things as Carmy, (excruciating) training at restaurants which is both draining mentally and physically. I loved it that the scenes were accurate cooking/kitchen-wise. Top notch series, one of the best ones in this decade.
Serenity (2019)
Horrible
This is one of the worst films I've seen in the past few years. Ridiculous dialogs and storyline with plotholes as big as an ocean. I had to laugh out loud at the end.
The Weekend Away (2022)
SO Bland like a slice of dry bread
Just a waste of time. Bad acting, stupid story. So many plot-holes in the story after a while it gets boring and SO predictable it almost turns into a comedy. I liked that glittery dress Kate was wearing in the beginning. That was probably the only WOW moment during the whole film.
Harlem (2021)
Just S.A.D.
Is this supposed show the real lives of POC or is supposed to be a funny pun at POC? It's just wrong on so many levels. If I were a POC I'd be offended. I lasted til the end of the 3rd episode but I had to pull the plug when Angie who has no job, no income, no home - so lives off her best friend - freaks out that the guy she likes lives in his car. Seriously?
The Billion Dollar Code (2021)
LOVED IT
Interesting, probably true story (I'll still
need to GOOGLE that) that is spaced out well within the 4 episodes.
Great character building through the story and I Loved the actors! Costumes and the whole set of the '90s, was just so cool! I kinda wish we could all go back to those days...
14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible (2021)
LOVED IT
Stunning pics and cinematography with lovely real-life characters ; I didn't know about this project back then but I'm SO glad it happened and they mad this film, every time I saw/see news or watch a docu about climbing I always wondered who the Sherpas are and why they rarely get mentioned. This was a great cause to change that! Well done and Huge Congrats to the team!
Too Hot to Handle (2020)
2nd season is embarrassingly bad
1st season was funny as the commentator Desiree was great. But this 2nd season is just painfully bad. Netflix, please you just can't justify the amount of hair-flicking I've seen lately in here. Shallow and mentally immature 20somethings can't stay sex-free for even 24 hours. WTF? Fake-acting, fake people. Honestly, just painfully bad. I'm genuinely worried that young people will think that this is how first dates are...
Devs (2020)
Never again
I don't even want to think about how many hours I wasted on watching this ...
Stowaway (2021)
Two Words
UTTER NONSENSE.
There's no way astronauts wouldn't be tethered to the ship/something on a spacewalk.
Plot-holes everywhere, lame "character" building, sad sad sad silliness.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Just no
This is like a 4hrs long slow-motion deodorant commercial for Jason Momoa.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Worse than Ad Astra
If you think the first opening scene has painfully bad CGI and you're hopeful that despite that the movie might not suck, you're wrong. This movie is just as bad as your first hunch when you double-guess yourself if you should keep on watching. You didn't like Ad Astra? Multiply it by horrible CGI, bad actors, stupid storyline, unnecessarily long slow-paced scenes, and you've arrived to this film. 'Nuff said.
The Girlfriend Experience: Moral Inventory (2017)
Rubbish 2nd SE, 1st Great, 3rd OK
1st SE is Great, that keeps you wanting to watch more, but then Season 2 just makes you never want to watch TV ever again.
3rd season is OK except for the end which is just stupid AF.
Fun fact /Goofs: fully visible large lighting crane in several wide shots in the last scenes of the 3rd SE.
What We Did on Our Holiday (2014)
So cute but also 'serious'
Loved this film, it's so cute. The kids are great in it and it really carries the film. The usual message of love and family above all, is present but not in a too pushy way. Well recommended for an 'easy' evening film for the whole family.
The Girlfriend Experience (2016)
SE1 Beilliant,SE2 worst I've seen in a long time
This is my first ever review here, and the reason for that is coz I'm So disappointed in SE 2 of this series.
The First one is brilliant and I think Riley Keugh's acting is first class. Story is good, enjoyable and tense, I just LOVED it (except for the last episode which didn't make sense). Honestly can it get lower than when you have to fast-forward through the sex scenes?! Right?
