Mister John (2013)
Not much going on in this film
Honestly, there's not much going on in this film. It's one of those movies that you aren't missing out on anything if you don't watch it at all. If you do watch it, you will mostly feel like it had wasted your time. Not sure why someone on Wikipedia called this movie a thriller.
Tower Block (2012)
Things Make No Sense
As much as I would like to say this is a good movie, there are things that don't add up in this film. Technically it would have needed more than one sniper to cover the premises even when plenty of surveillance cameras are installed to track the movement of these trapped residents. Let say that tower block has only 18 floors, the highly-trained sniper would need to be somewhere higher than the roof of that building to shoot at the fire hose that the guy was holding onto while climbing down the building on the other side. Since there was only one sniper (obviously it is impossible for him to be staring at and shooting at all four facades of the building at the same time and it didn't seem like the sniper had installed cameras all over the building, those residents could have all gotten down to the first or second floor of the tower block through the elevator shaft and broken into the flats that have windows facing the other side and climbed down from there.
The Trip to Italy (2014)
I guess you have to be British to appreciate the banters between these two guys
I suppose this movie isn't for me, as I already find Rob Brydon quite obnoxious during the first ten minutes of this movie. I have given this film a 3 out of 10 due to the filming locations (Italy). People tend to overrate a lot of the British movies, and unfortunately this is one of them. I don't particularly appreciate this so called witty banters between these two characters/actors/comedians, and they might have thought they had mocked Michael Cain successfully by doing impressions of him. Impersonating another person isn't only about trying to mimic that person's accent and voice. Their impressions of Robert De Niro were a failure while they were dining with two other British women at a restaurant in Rome. It was interesting to see what kind of food they were eating. So if you are into British humor and want to watch a movie in which these two are either eating or driving around Italy, this is for you.
Take Shelter (2011)
Shouldn't have trusted people's ratings here
Once again I have been misled by people's ratings and reviews here, and I do wonder if some people liked this film only due to the fact it had won the Grand Prix Nespresso at Cannes. The ending of the movie confirms with the audience that Curtis wasn't going crazy but in fact the apocalyptic storm was coming. The synopsis sort of tells you already that most likely he wasn't suffering from mental illness; therefore, the end was very predictable. I personally don't think I would have watched the film if I knew beforehand that the storyline was so downright simple and straightforward. It had been a slow-paced movie , and I did try to be very patient but still ended up feeling quite disappointed at the end.
Stoker (2013)
The 1 hour and 39 minute that I would never get back
Not sure why anyone would enjoy a pointless and senseless murdering people movie like this one here. You would have thought the film carries deeper meaning or there's more to this story, but at the end you realized it was just a movie about two soulless psychopaths without a conscience. This movie was a total waste of my time, and I felt sort of angry after watching a piece of crap like this. Come on, couldn't someone have written a better plot or something? Don't we have enough sick people and sadists on earth? How could have a widow fallen for her late husband's brother shortly after the funeral when it seemed like she loved and missed her husband? All of these characters are so unrealistic as if they all were without souls. The girl was born in 1994, but the way people dressed in this film didn't reflect our time at all. That's the other weird thing about this film.
Whiteout (2009)
Just stay away
I should have trusted the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. After watching this really boring film, I realized why it got 7% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Kate Beckinsale doesn't fit into the role of a US Marshall at all, no offense but it's like getting Whoopi Goldberg to play the role as a fashion model wearing a bikini for a photo shoot on a beach in a movie. Her role as the US Marshall was never convincing at all and it's hard to image why her character was there in the first place. I really thought it was going to be a good thriller but the film seems to be dragging on without much action most of the time and I was losing my focus easily. If you still choose to watch it, prepare to be bored most of the time during the movie.
