The Witcher (2019)
Wonderfully created
This show certainly picked quite the challenge, introducing a new world to the viewer while at the same keeping it intriguing and not overwhelm.
Actors : Henry Cavill is a strong lead, and portrays Geralt fantastically. He alone makes this show go from average fantasy to a fantastic unique show.
Story : gripping yet can be daunting if you're completely new to story. But will pay off in the long run as they take their time to introduce all elements and build the characters such as Yennefer.
Effects, sound and props: this vary quite a bit, while most of the monster looks great others look like very dated effects. The music and sounds is nothing but fantastic, and creates a true atmosphere to the witcher universe. And I find costumes, armies and props greatly detailed and enhances the atmosphere further.
Conclusion: this is not a show for everyone, but no show is, not even GOT was. It has thrilling action scenes, a fantastic lead, the occasional humour, and a deep story that I will eagerly follow through seasons. Give it a chance as you wont be disappointed.
Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo (2004)
My favorite movie for 14 years
I remember me and my friends would go to the local movie rental store every Friday to get some cool action movies, and every time we were excited and thrilled afterwards and would talk and talk about the "killer moves" we had just witnessed. Then one day we picked up Tae Guk Gi, because the cover looked like it was action packed.
2 and a half hours later it is not the typical post credit conversation going on, there was no mimicking the awesome moves. No, it was complete silence. Tae Guk Gi had been so powerful to us action-hungry 14 year old's we were left speechless.
The reason why I am telling that story is because that is what this movie does, it draws you in with its fantastic portrayal of family, love and the gruesomeness of war. Then it grinds all that up, concocting this final bang that results in an emotional climax.
For 14 years I have watched this movie a couple times a year, and each time I find it just as entertaining. Granted, it is not the most perfect technically produced movie, but that is not the point of movies. It is here to teach us about a historical moment, make an impact and entertain us. This movie does this perfectly.
Watch it, i promise you it wont be the last time you will :)
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Wicked good
This is not the perfect movie, but what it sets out to do it does perfectly.
Full of entertaining action. Good actors. Gunplay like never seen before.
It's very much worth your time. But be ready for blood!
Pacific Heat (2016)
Absolutely Hilarious
Put this show on to have in the background while playing some games, after 2 minutes i stopped all the other things I was doing and was laughing out loud watching this show.
It has stupid, crude and insensitive humor, which is much needed in today's overly sensitive society. The story is nothing special, but it doesn't need to be interesting when their comedy and characters draw you in.
Was laughing out loud through the whole episode and cannot wait to watch the rest of the season! I highly recommend this show to anyone who find inappropriate and crude comedy hilarious!
Warcraft (2016)
A great start for a movie that will turn into a masterpiece of a series.
Let me just start by saying this movie is beautiful, it is visually stunning.
The first thing that struck me with this movie was how lifelike the orcs were. The details were absolutely amazing, and you forget that these are CGI, as they are just so lifelike. On top of that the movie truly shows of Azeroth in the most visually striking way. The combat, the magic, and not to mention the costumes are nothing but perfect.
Now for the story and the execution of the movie. I have played the RTS games, WoW, and even read some of the lore, however it is several years ago, and I can't remember much. To me the story was a little thin, and I would have liked more backstories, to get a deeper connection with the characters. This is the only movie ever I wish was another hour long. I can understand that to some this movie is difficult to follow. But if you pay close attention, and remember faces you will never feel lost. The movie is executed very well in the time it uses, the action scenes were glorious. The movie found a good balance between battles and character interactions in order to best introduce the Warcraft world to the viewer.
I believe the movies needs more work in the future, but now after the first movie, it will be much easier tweaking the next to become the perfect game to movie adaptation. The reason for the vote 10 is because the movie left me wanting more, and truly entertained me. It is packed with action, drama, comedy and of course the greatly appreciated fan service.
I want more.
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
James Bond on Steroids Equals a Masterpiece
This movie surprised me in every way. I expected a decent action movie, instead I get a masterpiece of a movie that manages to execute its plot fantastically.
Today so many movies have a long beginning, introducing us to the characters and the plot, but it get's boring as nothing really happens, and so the result is just an exciting last half. Kingsman: The Secret Service however does not make you wait and begins the movie on a BANG!
Another thing movies tries is to have several plot lines at the same time, but it gets confusing, and they loose the audience. Kingsman, on the other hand executes this perfectly. Every plot line has a beginning, climax and a satisfying end.
So what is it that makes Kingsman execute everything so nicely? First of all a great cast. Colin Firth proves that he can play an action role, and performs excellent. He does his character so well its worthy of lots of awards. The rest of the cast, even the ones appearing for just a short period of time does nothing else but make the movie shine.
Second reason is the perfect action scenes. I thought I had seen well executed action scenes, but Kingsman takes it to another level. The reason for this is use of the camera, and the pure brutality. Every move, every punch, and gunshot was so satisfying it makes you begging for more, and they deliver.
But Kingsman also knows how to balance the movie, and when the movie is not hardcore action scenes it manages to stay bad-ass by having lots of humorous scenes, and exciting interactions. The plot line, twists and buildup is perfect. And just as the conversations and buildup would get boring in any other movie they perfectly time it and go back to action.
Lots of movies have good action, or good plot lines, but no movie has ever executed it as well as Kingsman: The Secret Service. This movie is a must watch, and should be bought on blue-ray!
