Oppam (2016)
Superb Suspense Thriller
Oppam is not the kind of movie that you expect from Priyadarshan Mohanlal team. The movie is a thriller which tells us the story of a visually impaired Jayaraman trying to save the life of a girl from a psychopath killer while trying to prove himself innocent for a murder he had not committed. Even though he is blind he tracks the killer with his intelligence and with the help of his other heightened senses of smell, sound and touch. There are lot of secrets which slowly unfolds through the course of the film. After Drishyam, this is the Mohanlal movie I was waiting for. I really liked the performance of all the characters. But I was little disappointed with the role given to Renji Panicker. I expected more of him in the film. But Mohanlal played the role with such perfection, proving once again that he is one of the finest actors of our country. This movie is a must watch.
Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam (2015)
Simply Beautiful
It is one of the feel good movies which brings a smile on your face. The film tells the story of a guy Sudhi who deals with speech impairment of stammering and how he copes up with this issue. He is simple, shy and little ashamed of his disability. The story describes the way he transforms himself into a new man with the help of a speech specialist and develops himself into a confident person. Jayasurya is just brilliant as Sudhi. The chemistry between TG Ravi and KPAC Lalitha is just adorable. The two heroines of the movie do justice with their roles. The lesson one should take from this movie is that, one should not be ashamed of his/her disability. He/She should accept it and live with it. They should not be ashamed of it. Self confidence is the key to success.
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)
Adventure soaked in Surprise!
Initially the movie is quite boring. But then we realize that Mr. Dibakar has taken time to introduce the characters to us. Once we get into the real story we realize how each thing is related to another and slowly the mystery unfolds. Detective Bakshy is never tired of using his methods of deduction and wit to solve the mystery and catch the real culprit. But then there is a super villain, right under his nose, breaking his every plan! The important characters of this film are: Byomkesh Bakshy: A common man who prefers to be a detective rather than a mathematics teacher. Ajit Bandyopadhyay: A simple guy who aspires to become a writer. He does not share a good relationship with his father but is upset about his missing. Dr Ankul Guha: A physician by profession who also runs a male hostel. Anguri Devi: An actor who is married to a local politician. She keeps many secrets with her... Satyawati: A well educated Bengali girl who is trying hard to prove her brother's innocence, convicted for murder. The film may not be appreciated by people who are just in the theater for complete entertainment or to sit back and enjoy. One needs to be patient and alert to watch this movie. You cannot afford to miss even a single dialog! While the camera is capturing the events of 1940s the music is of the current times but still seems to be very well in sync! The movie is a visual treat too. It time transports us to war stricken Calcutta of the 1940s. The props, vehicles, costume, sets, all are faultless. Finally on the scale of 'Highly Recommended', 'Recommended', 'Watchable' and 'NO Please' this movie is Recommended.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015)
Sweet Romance that will touch your Heart
Frankly speaking, I didn't had very high expectations with the movie. But it turned out to be a very sweet cute one. The actors are the driving forces of this film. Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanjay Mishra, Sheeba Chaddha and last but not the least Bhumi Pednekar does well too considering that its her first movie. Ayushmann plays a typical small town boy in the 90s. He is quite charming with his different accent. Bhoomi has very well managed to look like a just married Indian daughter in law. The music is quite refreshing and different from the prevailing music (in a good way). The King of Romance Kumar Sanu has two songs. But my favorite is the one sung by Shreya. If you want to watch this movie then go for it. Its a nice entertainer. You should never miss this kind of a movie.
