Dark Matter (2024)
I'm all in.. but if!
Dark Matter is a captivating TV series that seamlessly blends science fiction with thrilling plot twists, earning a well-deserved 9-star rating. The show's ingenious use of scientific concepts adds a layer of depth and realism that sets it apart from other series in the same genre.
One of the highlights of Dark Matter is its ability to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns. Each episode is filled with suspenseful moments and shocking revelations that leave audiences eagerly anticipating the next installment. The intricate storytelling keeps audiences engaged and constantly guessing, making for a truly immersive viewing experience.
However, the true strength of Dark Matter lies in its commitment to avoiding clichés and tired tropes. By steering clear of fillers such as dreams and visions, the show maintains its originality and avoids falling into the trap of becoming just another typical TV series. This dedication to quality storytelling is what sets Dark Matter apart and elevates it to the level of a must-watch series.
Should Dark Matter start incorporating unnecessary fillers that detract from the main storyline, such as dreams and visions, it would risk diluting the impact of its narrative and losing the unique charm that has garnered it such high praise. By staying true to its roots and continuing to deliver compelling storytelling and unexpected plot developments, Dark Matter has the potential to remain a standout in the world of science fiction television.
Day 5 (2016)
It's very good! This is how real humor should be in a show!
Never heard of this until I seen a "similar to ___" recommendation and i'm glad I clicked!
Awesome plot and idea, quite unique. The humor is possibly among the most natural flow out of all the shows I've watched. The dialog is great and very natural as well, it feels real and not hacky. So much credit to the writers here, I wished they were in charge of some of the big production in today's TV. I feel resentment that this wasn't continued past 2 seasons smh..
The pacing is 8/10. Only bad is the aweful use of mystic dreams - enough already! There are the occasional flashbacks, but in this case doesn't ruin the show or gets boring.
I feel like this could have lasted at least another 2-3 fun seasons but I guess unlikely since it's last one was in 2017..
Chad (2021)
I actually like it lol
It's definitely cringy, but that's alright in this context since it's high school freshmen vibes. "Chad" is a delightful fusion of cringe-worthy comedy and heartfelt storytelling. It expertly balances moments of genuine emotion with laugh-out-loud absurdity. Each episode leaves you eagerly anticipating the next, as Chad's misadventures continue to unfold in the most somewhat predictable but entertaining ways.
Offering a witty take on cultural clashes, teenage angst, and the universal quest for acceptance. The show doesn't shy away from addressing the complexities of identity and the challenges of growing up in a multicultural society, all while keeping the laughs coming.
Jury Duty (2023)
I hope this is really legit
My sister turned me on this show recently and I really like it! I just hope that the guy that is supposed be the only person "not in the gag" is really just a regular dude and not just another actor. I say that because I find it pretty incredible that every single one involved is just THAT good at playing their character. The judge is legit soo good, the weird guy is awkward as heck, the bailiff is funny, James is really good, the old lady is bonkers, just a fun show all around.
The sequence and pace is good too with all the debacle that happens day by day, almost like a mental breakdown of everyone one day at a time lol. But if I find out that the duped guy is an actor too then I'm dropping my rating way under!
The Last of Us (2023)
Even the self-proclaimed
Even the self-proclaimed experts on Youtube can't find themselves to dislike this. It's too good and I kind of wish I heard about it when all of the episodes were released already in order to binge lol.
The infected are absolutely terrifying! I think no other show comes close to the awesomeness of detail involved, and the creativity of fungus taking over is amazing!
I had to update this when ep3 came out because it made me love this show even more now, I hope they keep this series up for years to come for our entertainment.
I do wish that we got to see the falling of mankind over the 20yr period however. Things like that are important at least for me to build suspense and go all in with the fungus idea. They do however, teach us throughout the 2nd episode which is fine too - I guess chaos is what I am meaning to look for when beginning a series. By the way, there's a show on Netflix called Colony which has really good elements of this series so you may find yourself entertained by Colony too!
12 Monkeys (2015)
Pretty dope!
I'm digging this series, onto season 2. The things that stand out are the pacing and the development. Every episode has conviction where things occur to actually move the story forward. Unlike other series that pack episodes with fillers or stupid visions or unnecessary romances that make things predictable.
I watched time traveling shows like "Dark" which was crazy hard for the typical person to follow, and this is a bit easier to so it's more fun to watch (although I loved Dark too). The only bad about this so far is the soundtrack kinda sucks or is underdeveloped in a way where it could have added to feel more emotion to the story, the main character casting could have looked the part a bit mor.

Some reviewers need a personal check
Dude... People are literally rating a Mature audience show a 1 star because of some bad language used every now and then. You see more bad language on a small Youtube comment section than a whole season of this. If it was so much that it makes it unwatchable then I would totally get it.
Then I read of someone complaining about the character's sexuality LOL.
What does it have to do with the series at all?! I'm almost finished with it and I think it came out twice in an episode and it was appropriately fitted in the story because she had met some guy to get some information for her research. Nowhere else did it come up again.
I am writing this so people can please try to not fill up space in reviews because of irrelevant things that do not drive a show's merit or failure. Having said that, this series has some originality and it is slow like some have said but in a good way because it is characterized as a thriller after all.
Breaking Wind (2012)
This was quite alright lol
Usually paradoies are all cringe but this was so random it reminded me of Family Guy or the usual Youtube stuff but it was kinda long and I had to bail. The one liners were the best though haha!
Glass (2019)
Just okay
I'm surprised on the amount of lack of creativity with the superhero persons. More could have been done for the wow factor since the whole purpose of Mr. Glass was to expose superhuman ability + the ending's purpose. Underwhelming show of strength. Then there's the admiration of Glass's mom as she's expressing pride in her son's behavior of being a serial killer - wtf is that about. Unbreakable was amazing, better than those hacky Marvel movies, and to take a step bac like this is annoying. 6 star cos i managed to re-watch it.
Superman & Lois (2021)
Thinking about avoiding teenage actors in shows
It's good, but it's incredible how one can take the phenomenal world of Superman and make it so hacky. I kid you not, EVERY single scene that's not crime fighting is literally a therapy session of some sort. An argument, conflict resolution, family squabbles, some teenager throwing a tantrum or endangering others, causing a scene for no reason, etc. Ironically the most interesting story growth could come out of the teens and their derived powers, use of X-Krypto, etc.. but I said could, COULD but it doesn't. Shoot and a-miss.
There are at least 10 side conversations each episode about some melodrama, and to add to it, action scenes derive or uproot from these unreal chit-chats that no real regular family would be having. Only way one can really overlook this nonsense is the fact that the show is in fact rated PG, so it's targeted at families. It's like a trend at this point that any adolescents in lead roles will head straight in this direction no matter what. I may be butt-hurt but only because it could have been a bit better in the story department. Thank goodness for fast-forwarding.
Wipeout (2021)
Bizarre audience reviews here
You guys complaining and comparing a modern reboot to something from a decade ago is literally bizarre. It's exactly the same energy you give out when one compares their current partner to an ex girlfriend/boyfriend and you sound ridiculous. It's Wipeout, hacky jokes back then and the same now just delivered by a new crew.
But the show is STILL fun and good to watch. We should be glad it's back since we're not even able to watch the older episodes at all anyway.
Utopia (2020)
I watched both versions and
This is much more intense, with better acting so I don't get the hate. Oh wait, yes I do.. Basically it's people who for some reason want the exact same thing as the original lol. Why do people expect a remake to NOT be different?! If you wanted an identical show then just re-watch the original but don't bash another group's rendition just because you didn't feel it "vibed" the same. For goodness sakes it is literally two different cultural audiences separated by the Atlantic ocean, how can you expect the same flow to a series made for the US market?
I'm thankful that we get two shows, just enjoy both. Like remakes of Batman, Spider-Man, Mad Max.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Nothing but yapping, but really great premise
I always read that "we have seen this before", etc, but isn't that what life is though? The same stuff with different stuff thrown in, in some random time-frame. I really enjoy dystopian-type shows because it could really happen, and any scenarios could truly derive if given enough time and randomness. I look at a group like the Saviors and the "W" people and compare them to extremists in today's world and think that it is absolutely possible that such demise in the world could bring ugliness within people. So I want to see this series go on forever...
but hot dang the last 3 (8, 9, 10) has been nothing but babbling about nonsense. Nothing in these side conversations progress the story in any significant way. There are however, some tense moments and twists which was what kept me hooked (and I'm sure many other viewers). Usually this is when I stop fast-forwarding. That's the 1st major mistake here.
2nd, is the lack of realism. Can't tell ya how many times there has been the case of "NOO, you go! Leave me!" - You gotta be kidding me man. Then we have these dum dums who literally would stop mid-zombie fight to have some melodramatic moment. Do writers really believe that viewers prefer these cringe moments vs thrilling tension instead?
3rd, are the inconsistencies with their capabilities, continuum, personality up and downs, and convenient ex-machinas.
P. S.
To the people complaining about interracial couples and and all that, you guys do know all of this was pre-written ages ago from a comic book right? But let's just assume that it wasn't. Are we really to believe that if a major part of the U. S. collapsed from a pandemic in the SOUTH, that the law of averages wouldn't apply and groups would form with many races within those groups? Same with the gender to gender stuff. We all know someone within our own groups/family who likes the same sex lol, why wouldn't the same apply in this scenario?
Other than that, I like the new characters that don't engage in these unfulfilling dramatics, the conflicts between new encountered groups (because it could really happen!) - everyone else can get swallowed up by a flood or something. I'm convinced that they are writing for a younger audience, even though this is rated TV-MA. I hope that there are remakes of this series that read this and other low rated reviews, because, there seems to be consistency in them.
Dodgeball Thunderdome (2020)
It's funny!
I almost turned it off when they were introducing the hosts for like 5 plus dang minutes but gotta give them props for creating this cos it's actually fun to watch. Funny lines, the chubby Carlos friend guy is hilarious, and the course is like a muddy Wipeout course. Girl host does well, she's no Jill but she's fun and energetic. Hope they bring this back to Discovery+!
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)
Naaah
I'm glad someone else mentioned the pure annoying chaos in this second edition of Escape Room, so as to be not alone in this opinion lol. This one lacks substance and depth, surprisingly because the games here are pretty dope. But nah man, I had to skip through all the yelling and random hysteria that don't really translate to the viewer as fear. Should have stuck with the uniqueness of the 1st.
Mindhunter (2017)
You gotta be kidding me
This show is so freaking amazing. Easily the best show I have ever seen and there are only two seasons.. This show gave me hope that production teams in the US are headed in the right direction, and then the keep postponing this for something else. Unique series like this is needed and I hope others would jump on board to raise the hype behind it.
Ex Machina (2014)
It's THAT good..
If only there was a follow up to this film..
When you think of AI, the dialoge between her and the human is what most people imagine. She's so convincing that I truly believe most people would fall for the false sense of security the lead character does. Well written, intriguing, entertaining, with suspense thrown in. Really opened my mind to more films like this so I'm grateful for that as well. Watch it!
Vice Principals (2016)
I thought Eastbound and Down was amazing until..
This amazingly hilarious comedy I accidentally discovered. Comedies like this makes me appreciate the art of writing cos the jokes and story that is this show is pure genius. If you can't find it on streaming services, then rent it because it will be worth your money tenfold.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Folks will complain one way or another
I have no clue why some would WANT this to be a similar vision as the movie and not something that builds into MORE than just a movie.. I'll agree the main guy sometimes comes across as mehh for the role specifically but the story is there. By mid season things got going for sure and I found it very worthy and hope you guys at least watch till halfway. It's great to imagine this exact scenario and enjoy some mystery.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
Wow
THIS is what a edge of your seat movie is supposed to made. Even better than the first!
Atypical (2017)
Love the show
Absolutely entertaining. Those who are complaining about the small inaccuracies of an autistic individual aren't getting it that this is supposed to have some comedy.. So that's where you get the deviation from how maybe a typical person who's that way acts.. Kind of silly that folks can't just either enjoy a show or simply not tune in lol.
