Not as good as the hype
1 October 2022
I saw this movie today in London and I was the only white man in the room. This was expected max.

The movie has some nice visual and the cinematography is okay.

The issue I found was the editing. Scene chopped in many places which make it hard to follow the story. The pacing as well wasn't right.

The acting was okay but for a historical story I was expected a bit more seriousness from the actors.

The actor on the first part made way too much goofy face to be taken seriously.

Also the dialogue was too childish. Maybe that's how the Indian culture is in real life.

I enjoyed some Indian movies before like 'padmaavat' but this one was not for me.

Pro and con
2 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Pro: I really liked the 70's setting. The cinematographer and costumer crew did a really good job.

The acting and cast was perfect. The young girl was amazing and really stole the show. All her scene was extremely well acted and I would have put 5 stars if she wasn't in there.

Con: the story. I really liked it until the kid get kidnapped. It remained me of Stranger things.

But once he got kidnapped I started to loose interest. I also didn't get the paranormal element, it just didn't fit with the serious drama that preceded. Also the little girl vision was a major plot hole. We had on one side the dead kids who helps him and if that wasn't enough, we have the sister with visions. For that context they should have chosen one of them. Two were slightly over the top.

Interesting story
10 May 2022
I was drawn into the story at soon as the movie start. It does take you on a crazy ride but the message is simply the love between a mother and her daughter and it seems to be a metaphor to represent it.

The cinematography was very well done as well as the acting.

I saw it in a regular cinema and was very bothered by the switch of aspect ration from 1.35 to 2.39.

It's like watching a trailer for almost two hours.

Similar to what Christopher Nolan did with the dark night.

Better to watch the original french version
28 April 2022
Being a fan of the original French version, I still wanted to give a chance to this remake.

I'm french but live in London, so I can relate to both shows.

First it's nice to see that they created diversity with actors. (On the french one they re all white...).

But unfortunately they changed something in the story line that change the effect on their purpose. In the UK version, the older agent is the son of the boss. So when his dad dies. It makes sense that he will take over his place.

In the french version, he's not his son. But he assume that he ll be next which annoy the other agents. Which make more sense on the competition between each other.

The set and location are realistic.

Other than that the story is similar so it's too predicament for me.

What was there thinking?

Warning: Spoilers
The first 40min is just horrible.

They re talking about Warner brother wanted a matrix 4! It felt like a SNL show. And for 10min they made us painfully watch how this will come into fruition. This scene was plain ridiculous.

The fighting scenes.

I was actually bored during the fighting scenes. The camera shaking and that weird effect added on it make it so confusing(Japan train scene). I had no idea who was fighting who.

The acting.

Keenu reeve seemed to be in that movie against his will. Maybe that's why the fighting scene seemed so bad. The energy he had during the first matrix is long gone.

The British Chinese girl Jessica Henwick was good and nice to look at.

Neil Patrick was also good.

I will rate 2/10 for the first hours and 7/10 for the second half when neo wakes up.

Good movie but could have been better.
13 December 2021
The original plot was very interesting and Sandra bullock delivered once again.

I enjoyed the realist side of the story where a convict tries to come back into a normal life.

That the main character wants to see her sister fit perfectly into the story and makes you want to watch more.

Unfortunately there's a horrible subplot where two brothers want revenge. This is so unrealistic forcing itself to a cliché. I takes you away from the main plot in a negative way.

The ending is emotional but very badly directed. That scene shouldn't have happened in that location. It felt like they ran out of time or budget and they were like; you know what, let shot that ending quickly over here.

It's still worth watching it, especially for Sandra bullock.

Low expectation went lower
8 December 2021
How can I describe this.

It's like watching a very long episode of Eastenders And I hate Eastenders.

The main character man has no charisma and it would make it almost impossible that two stunning women would fight over him.

Then goes all the cliche and a predictable ending.

Metaphor for all the theist.
20 November 2021
The issue I have in the movie is the improbability on how people would behave if no one will lie. Surely you can keep it for yourself about what one think of another.

The good part of this movie, is how this shows had a similarity on how people came up about the idea of believing in a Gods thousands years ago. A very good satire for the open minded.

Visually exciting
1 November 2021
The cinematography was sublime as a start. I live in London and worked in soho so all the exterior shots were familiar.

The director made that film visually exciting incorporating the main protagonist through the 60's via glass and mirror.

The cast was superb.

A little minus for the story itself, nothing new here.

Better than I expected.
30 September 2021
The first 20 min was surprisedly good. It doesn't have action but the storyline is well done. Almost like watching a short film.

The cinematography was well done especially when Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux shared the screen.

Also I'm french and sometimes the subtitles didn't fit with what she said. (It was irrelevant to the story anyway).

The middle of the story is why it doesn't get 9 stars. It's want bad but it has nothing new to it.

AnaDe Armas characters has an incredible cute personality which made you like her immediately. Unfortunately her screen time was very little.

The last 15min was perfect. It matches the first 20min.

Whats the point if living if you cant touch your loved one.

Cruella (2021)

Amazing cinematography
31 May 2021
I had low expectation as I read on BBC that it has mixed review.

But first I was stunned by the cinematography. The story is set in the 70's London.

Camera movement was perfect. The soundtrack with that electric guitar and some Tiana Turner sounded wonderful.

Emma stone did a really good job and was convincing as Cruella. Her acting with the help of some really good dress design was on top.

Forget about the cruella from the Cartoon. They are somewhat different and heavily address animal cruelty in this new version.

Some CGI of the dogs was a bit off but not to much distracting.
