A Dog's Purpose (2017)
If You Love Your Pets - See This
This is the first movie I have gone to in several decades that I'm truly sorry I didn't bring a handkerchief or tissues. I saw this movie 1/29/17 and very glad I went to see it. This is a masterpiece in tying together emotions, best friend, lifetime regrets and heartaches, and tons of puppy love. Everyone did a masterful job of tying in together the everyday tribulations from everyone's perspective - including the dogs. This was most enjoyable movie and as Dennis Quaid stated, I saw no danger to any animal. I intend to get the DVD when it comes out. This is a wonderful movie for all ages and most highly recommended. Bring Kleenex because this film will put your feelings on an emotional roller-coaster and, its well worth it! Fantastic movie.
Hidden Figures (2016)
Fantastic & Historical
Although I was in the audience watching the movie I felt like I was back there for the sequence of events. I got so into the movie I forgot where I was and what year it really is. I was immediately snapped back to reality when the 3 little girls were in their bedroom and I saw those bedspreads. My mother had the same thing on my bed as a child. The setting was real and I noticed the destination on the old bus. It was so real to see and experience the trials and problems at that time for NASA, society and our culture. Having lived through that time I wonder how we survived. The movie was a big enjoyable and borderlines on a historical documentary. Cast was great! Events were factual and there was an excitement in rooting for the "home team" even if history is repeating it self. I would like to have the car. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give the film an 11 but, 10 is as high as I can go. I would recommend the movie to everyone middle school and older. I liked it so much - it is my intention to buy the DVD when available. Great movie!
Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Almost fell asleep
After watching the movie and exiting the theater I wondered why I spent the price of admission and admitted that the most exciting thing that I felt in the last hour was the taste of the buttered popcorn. The movie was terrible. Did not like the young pilots. Movie was too chopped up. I will not buy the DVD. Some of the "ideas" from the first movie were repeated so that made it more boring. Liked the long haired crazy professor. The sci-Fy part of the movie was better than the last one but the ideas need to be updated to the modern day. We have never found out where they came from. Like the comment, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". This could be used as a training film for young actors, directors and producers in preparation for what not to do in a Sci-Fy movie.
The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
On the edge of my seat !!
This was fantastic. I was shocked with some of the scenes because they were so real to life. Although I saw Tarzan as a child in the 50's on T.V. with Johnny Wiesmuller and Jock Mahoney, this was so clear and so real it looked like a million megapixels because of the clarity. I did not like the character in the white suit. I wanted to put my fist in his face myself. Saw him before with Brad Pitt in WW-II movie as an SS colonel ("Inglorious Bastards" and I hated him there too. Jane was beautiful and next to Tarzan they would make a nice couple in real life. Loved the movie and it was so real and beautiful that I intend to buy the DVD for my collection. Highly Recommended. 10 stars!!!!!!
The Martian (2015)
On the edge of my seat !!
I waited for weeks to see this movie and when it came out I went first night. It was well worth the wait. I enjoyed it. I was sorry it ended. I wanted another mission or chapter. What Mark Watley had to endure was so realistic - honest - and so macho. I would only hope that if I were in his shoes I could attempt to try and do the same. I know now that NASA has always been fascinating and that I didn't learn all I needed to know to travel in space from high school. The information presented at different times was perfectly timed for the better understanding by the viewer. GREAT one liners. The movie, landscape, machinery, uniform-suits, equipment and difficulties were so real - that during the movie I found myself thinking how I would do it - and I was there helping out. The movie captivates you and holds you on another planet yearning for survival and with guts and gumption to go for it. Fantastic movie - will see again - AND BUY THE DVD!
Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011)
One of his best!
I liked this movie so much that I immediately went out and bought all eight (as of Spring 2015) and I will buy #9 when it comes out. This is a great drama, doesn't feed you the information, lets you take the lead only to find out later. I liked Rose Gammon in the series and would like to see much more of her. Could there be some electricity between Jesse and Rose if she returns? Jesse needs to catch Hasty. The homicide chief in Boston needs to keep up the dry whit with Jesse. Great job. There should be a closer bond with the dog. He is beautiful. I really enjoy the Jesse Stone series and look forward to many more episodes. Thanks.
