What a waste of time this is. I suppose if one were to get high like everyone in the movie is supposed to be, it might produce an accidental laugh, but I found it to be merely disgusting.

I love Anthony Hopkins - good movie!

I did enjoy this movie very much. My biggest gripe is Ryan Gosling's many tics and twitches and head scratching, etc. Maybe it is the director's fault, maybe the director enjoys that from an actor - I didn't care for it. It is a distraction.

Crispin Glover is pathetically bad in this "movie"

Wow, what a waste of time this movie was. I read the book about 30 years ago and remember it pretty well. This wasn't even close to the perfection of the book. I can only assume that all the other actors were as disappointed as I was because Glover is that bad in this movie. There is no subtlety to this adaptation, and a 2 hour movie probably isn't sufficient, but it might have been bearable without that awful lead actor. Don't bother, but read the book.

No, I don't think so.

I watched the episode that was on last night where the miners are digging to get underneath to install some kind of heat manager - I'm sorry, I can't tell you exactly what it was. The actors were all whispering and croaking with some kind of radioactive fry in the voice. WTF. Mostly unwatchable in its current state. Too bad, as it could have been very interesting.

History Channel 2 - Shame on them. "Spoiler" for spoiled TV
5 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Shame on the History Channel 2 for broadcasting this at all. I don't recall if there was a disclaimer at the beginning at all, but the one at the end lasted a fraction of a second. I didn't pause to read it but I understand it says it is some kind of "re-creation" rather than total fiction.
Early in the show, the bit about the area in Algeria where "absolutely no animals lived, not even insects" was discussed, my ears perked. This area was huge so it immediately registered as phony. Then, the only animal in the area, the dog belonging to the guy and his kid goes crazy and kills the kid. No warning about graphic footage or disturbing audio and they play it over and over, supposedly captured as if the kid was recording on a cell phone.
The whole thing becomes obviously recognized as drama, not documentary. Lots of commercially timed "moments" and silly science.
Again, shame on the H2 Channel for not clarifying that this isn't drama throughout the show. Shows like this are why I dropped cable/dish years ago. Not only are they no longer true to their network names (there is no history on the history channel, etc.) but they are endlessly replayed. I saw this while watching a free 2 month subscription to Sling TV by buying a Chromecast device. If it didn't have ESPN, I would cancel it even though it is free.

American Crime
(2015–2017)
Spoiler Alert?
15 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really don't know who was the real murderer of the couple - the crime that started this whole train wreck. Did they say and I missed it or did they prefer to let us wonder? I suppose I'm supposed to ponder it all.
The story was believable enough overall but lots of connections that weren't, in my opinion. We certainly got a look at stereotypes galore and flawed characters, but the storyline was a victim of overdoing it.
I do imagine that this film does portray some of the hatred in this country right now and that is hard to do without having to place blame somewhere, but not on everyone! There are victims in the real world.
I liked it enough to finish but thought the ending was a letdown, somewhat of a tacked on finish to leave no one "getting theirs."
