i liked it
13 February 2006
I actually liked this movie. Watching it, I didn't really expect it to be very popular or win any academy awards, but I don't think it deserves at all to be in the bottom one hundred.

First of all, James Franco was freaking hot! It was worth seeing just to see him take off his shirt. The storyline was interesting had you rooting for the underdog. It was a basic story line, but at least it didn't bored you to tears and you actually cared about the outcome.

All in all, I think it was a good movie and shouldn't be put at the bottom of the $1 bin so soon without seeing for yourself first. I walked into the movie with an open mind and ended up enjoying it. Don't listen to what the critics say because your opinion could differ from theirs.

Seal Morning (1986)
Seal Morning
11 September 2005
An orphaned girl, Rowenna Fare, comes to live with her Aunt Miriam. At first she doesn't like living there and does not appreciate all the beauty around her. She then finds a seal that her Aunt reluctantly lets her keep, at least until she is old enough to survive on her own. Rowenna starts to love her new home once she has her new friend.

Dr. Bernard Lacey befriends Rowenna and her Aunt. Aunt Miriam has an attraction to Bernard, but he is engaged to a stuck-up brat.

This is a pretty good television show (but was actually also a movie put together with things from the show.) It is obviously not very well known but it's pretty cute and is good for the kids. The kids will enjoy the seal.

Sleepers (1996)

Powerful
21 August 2005
Sleepers portrays the lives of four young boys when they are sent to a detention center for a stupid prank and ended up being brutalized and sexually abused by the guards while there. Years later, when the boys are men, two of them (Billy Crudup and Ron Eldard) who have become murderers with many other problems, see one of the guards (Kevin Bacon) at a bar. They kill him on the spot.

When the two are put on trial, the two other friends (Brad Pitt and Joseph Purrino), one (Pitt) being a lawyer, decide to "rig" the trial so that they may get revenge on all that had happened.

The first half was difficult to watch, but so worth it. I was on the verge of tears. The second half didn't flow so well but the first part of the movie makes up for any of the flaws. I'd recommend this movie anyone.

Why is it in the Bottom 100?
6 August 2005
I actually came on this page of IMDb to see how HIGH the score was. I thought it would be in the 7's. How wrong I was! But does it really deserve such a low score? The answer is no in my opinion. This was a freaking hilarious movie and Dana Carvey did a really great job in his role. Sometimes it was a little goofy but that's Dana Carvey's style. I don't know why people hated it. I happen to love it and I think a lot of the little ones will enjoy it as well.

So if your looking for a funny movie with cute humor I think you'll enjoy it. I mean, I did. Ignore all the other comments because they obviously don't know what they're talking about. I think they had it confused with "The Notebook".

For Keeps? (1988)

Underrated 80's Movie
29 July 2005
This is one of those underrated 80's teen movies. You have Ferris Bueler, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, Better Off Dead, etc. And somewhere in there is For Keeps? Or at least I thought it was that good to be somewhere up there. I thought this should have gotten more credit. It shows what a young couple would have to go through raising a baby. You really feel for the characters and truly hope they'll end up working out all of their problems. Molly Ringwald and John Zarcan do an exceptional job in their roles. The parents were really funny and entertaining. All in all this is a great film with both laughs and tears. I found myself smiling without even knowing it!

Elvis (I) (1979 TV Movie)

Better Than Expected
28 July 2005
This movie is one of those "WOW!" movies. Not because it's the greatest movie of all time, but because it surprised me. Not only was it a T.V. movie, but it was on Elvis. I can safely say as many impersonators as there are there was only one Elvis, but I can also safely say that Kurt Russel came extremely close to being the real thing. It was one of the greatest impersonations that I have ever seen. He had me believing that it was really him. I learned a lot about Elvis' life from watching this movie. And don't led the television part of it let you stray-it's actually a really fantastic film! And Kurt Russel could've been Elvis' twin :)

Awww, the 80's :)
27 July 2005
Adam Sandler plays Robbie Hart, a wedding singer with only enough money to get by. He was going to get married, but Linda, his fiancé', doesn't show up, and finally confronts him saying that she was having second thoughts. Drew Barrymore plays Julia Sullivan, a shy girl engaged to the wrong man. They meet when Julia is waitressing at the place Robbie works at. They are instantly friends and get along quite well.

This simple plot is expanded by the great and memorable characters and the actors who portray the roles. It is funny and has plenty of memorable lines. And if this isn't enough for you to shout "WAHOO!" the chemistry between Julia and Robbie is right on and I'm surprised they aren't dating in real life. This is a great romantic comedy so just watch it without any questions! It has become one of my favorites.

Empire Records
27 July 2005
This movie follows the stories of many people who work at Empire Records, a music store on the brink of closing. All the characters are memorable, even the boy who steals a CD and is caught and hit by the door of a car. The drama, comedy, and music work well together all around.

Liv Tyler really impressed me in her role. She was very convincing as an intelligent young lady on her way to Harvard. All the actors were great in their roles and I can't imagine anyone else taking their places. And the soundtrack is AWESOME!!!!! :) All-in-all a cute film that you can watch again and again.

Pleasantly surprised
27 July 2005
Ben Affleck plays Ollie Trinkie who falls in love with Gertrude Seinly, played by Jennifer Lopez. They get married and Gertrude becomes pregnant. Complications from the pregnancy cause Gertrude to pass away but the baby, Gertie, survives.

Life is tough for Ollie but his love for Gertie pulls him through. He eventually meets Liv Tyler, who works at the video store, and they become great friends.

Ollie must choose between his love for his job or his love for his daughter and family. There are a lot of tears, but that's what makes this movie extra good.

All in all, this is a cute movie with memorable characters. I remember thinking "Finally, Ben, you did it!" HA HA! A great surprise :)

You had me at "Hello"
27 July 2005
Jerry Maguire is a sports agent who has always been a smooth talker with his many clients, but when he comes to the revelation that maybe it's not about the money but about his clients futures being at stake, he rights a 25-page memo explaining his idea.

Things start going south once he loses his job because of what he wrote. Dorothy, one of Jerry's co-workers, decides to go with him when he starts his own private business because she believed in what he wrote. Pretty soon they fall in love with each other, but not without some rocky points.

This is the perfect romantic comedy with outstanding actors. Watch this with a date or even your mom. Everyone can appreciate this flick.

Oh-so-sweet
27 July 2005
I really enjoyed this movie. I didn't expect much from this film, considering I didn't really know what it was about, but from the moment it started it caught my interest. The story of a rabbi and a priest being best friends just seemed so beautiful to me. There is no religious cracks in this movie and it shows how we all should accept one another's religions.

Then these friends are reunited with their 8th grade best friend, who comes back as a beautiful grown woman. There is an obvious immediate attraction from both guys to her. The only problem is that the rabbi can't be with her because she is not Jewish and the priest can't because he has taken an oath of celibacy. The good part about this movie besides the chemistry between all actors part of this film is that you don't know what will happen. It's not so predictable and you really feel for the actors which is rare these days. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet romance.

Well . . .
27 July 2005
The plot isn't too complicated to understand. These "Knockaround Guys" are trying to find a bag of money. Big deal. The little details don't really matter. I wouldn't say it's horrible, but it sure isn't great either. I suppose you have to be in a type of mood to enjoy it.

This movie definitely benefits from the outstanding cast and the great performances each actor gives for what they had to work with. It was enjoyable on that level, but I wouldn't recommend this to many people, because it isn't really worth watching unless you just want to watch it with your mind shut off. All the action is fun to watch, especially when Vin Diesel kicks the crap out of a guy in a bar. I give it a 5/10.

A satisfying sequel
26 July 2005
After the huge success of the first movie, they decided to change that "The End" to a "To be Continued . . ." and send Marty McFly (Fox) on another chaotic adventure!

When Marty gets back from 1955 to find his life perfect, he is more than happy. But then the Doc (Lloyd) comes back from the future telling him Marty must come back with him to change it. But when Biff comes along and takes the Delorean back in time to 1985, all is not well in Marty's life. Biff is now rich, married to his mother, and his father was murdered. Now he must go back yet again to 1955 and save his life from destruction.

This was a great sequel to an outstanding movie. I would recommend this to anyone, even if you haven't seen the 1st!

What the hell's a jigawatt!?
26 July 2005
This is a great movie. I like it so much. No, I don't like it, I LOVE it. It is one of my all-time favorite movies that I could seriously watch one hundred times in a row and not get bored of it.

Christopher Lloyd plays Doc Brown, a scientist who invents the flux capacitor which is "what makes time travel possible". When him and his friend, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), decide to test it out on his dog, Einstein, Marty is accidentally sent back to 1955! With trying to get his parents to fall in love and get back to his normal life to be reunited with his girlfriend, Jennifer Parker, life becomes complicated.

This movie is funny, intelligent, and is just a feel-good movie. Sit down with some popcorn and enjoy!

A feel-good movie
26 July 2005
I remember seeing the first movie not expecting much from it, but when I walked out I was pleasantly surprised! When I saw the previews to this movie I thought "Oh god! Another movie ruined by a sequel!" I was slightly wrong in my thinking, because this was in fact a cute, light-hearted, feel-good movie. Maybe it's not as good as the first, but I still thought it was rather enjoyable. Anne Hathaway is a great actress and I'm so glad her talent was discovered and recognized. Julie Andrews gave a great performance as the former Queen of Genovia. This movie may have been predictable and a big ball of fluff, but what do you expect to a sequel to a Disney movie where Pixar wasn't involved? I would recommend this movie to anyone, just as long as you go into it knowing it's different from the first. I'm just praying there won't be a third movie.

Why does it have a low score?
13 July 2005
Why did people dislike this movie? It's a fun movie to watch. I thought it was great! Nicole Kidman and Matthew Broderick gave great performances. Christopher Walken was wonderful as usual (even in his lesser films he rocks the house). I thought it was funny and intelligent. Maybe it wasn't perfect, and I haven't seen the original, but, seriously, it's better than most movies out there! I don't think it deserves such a low score, considering the Notebook got such a high score and wasn't even as good as most films that received the same score. I think everyone should just give it a chance, because we all have different opinions and shouldn't watch it strictly based on one negative comment! (B+)

Stupid, but not in the way Dumb & Dumber was stupid
10 July 2005
I didn't have high expectations for this movie, which is the way you should go into this movie. I knew that it would be mediocre in comparison to the masterpiece that is Dumb & Dumber played by wonderful hilarious actors. Obviously, not everyone's going to like the fact that it's played by different people (including me.) It's enjoyable though there are some eye-roller moments. It's a fun movie that's easy to watch, especially if you're bored. If anyone expected a masterpiece, they probably came out of the theater wondering why they even bothered. But what do you expect from a sequel with different people playing the roles? It was just a bomb waiting to happen.

Gilmore Girls (2000–2007)
Just watch it - you might just like it!
6 July 2005
It is very rare that you find a show worth watching on the WB, but Gilmore Girls is definitely watchable! Lorelai and her daughter, Rory, live in the small town of Stars Hollow in Connecticut. Lorelai got pregnant at 16 and moved out of her parent's home and got a job as a maid, slowly making her way up to manager. Rory goes to Chilton, an expensive but very educational school, where they had to borrow money from Rory's grandparents, Richard and Emily Gilmore.

Lorelai and Rory have a great mother-daughter relationship. Emily and Lorelai have a not-so-good relationship, which is entertaining to watch. The fast-paced come-back conversations are refreshing, even though it's not very realistic. You will find yourself enjoying every minute of it no matter what age or gender. There's great character development and relationships between those characters. It's a definite must see!

I give it a 9/10 = A

The Notebook (2004)
2/10
Overrated
1 July 2005
The only thing good about this movie was the beautiful scenery. The acting was decent but I'll probably only be able to view Rachel McAdams as a popular and mean high school girl. The story was predictable and boring. I thought Allie was a superficial slut and didn't have any chemistry with Noah. Their relationship was based on looks and sexual desire. I didn't see them have a true conversation once in the movie. Not only that, but when Allie was engaged she actually went and had sex with Noah. That, to me, would seem like it would make her fiancé angry, but he didn't even care. The ending was disappointing, especially in comparison to the novel's, even though I didn't enjoy the novel either. It's one of the most overrated romances I have ever seen. I think I probably expected a masterpiece, and what I got was complete boredom. I would think twice before watching this movie.
