Terrifier 2 (2022)
That movie has no goal, only path.
That phrase describes pointless of the movie. Don't get me wrong, the movie isn't bad. It is a sequel. It is a slasher-movie, only for hardcore horror fans. There are tons of violence splashing out from a screen. The main antihero dressed as a clown killing everyone from left to right in different ways. Unfortunately, there are still no explanations for his reasons since the first part. In comparison with such movies as "Halloween, Friday, Nightmares on Elm Street", where main valiances have their reason, our villain hasn't one. You just gonna spent 2 hours for watching blood and gore. And that is a little minus for the film, that makes it tiresome. It doesn't differ from the first movie, only in variations of weapons using and body count. In one of the reviews on that site there are words about childish ways and pictures of gore actions. First, it doesn't look childish and, second, fortunately, not everyone know how it could look in reality. Additionally now in the film presents supernatural part also without an explanation. It is hard to evaluate the movie. As a Freddy-Jason-Myers's fan I would say it was overweighted with meat. As a today fan I would call it a great nonstop action of violence. According to the imdb.com, comparison between first and second movies estimations shows that income increased multiple times. Such taste changes in society could be interesting object for psychological examinations. Perhaps, marvel heroes, total tolerance and products for kids form a demand for something breaking out from rules. One more minus I would give for jeering at a dead animal body, it is not my theme. Nevertheless, the movie has good sides. Main villain was well played by David Howard Thornton, so speechless killer. His make-up, costume, facial expressions, in the aggregate, scare. His appearance has something similar with the Nun from the Conjuring series. In some sources have been written about some humor in the movie, but I did not find it. There are no toilet humor or the stupid one. The other cast was also suitable and good-looking nice main heroine. Unfortunately she didn't revealed herself on 100%. It is written, that she made stunts. There were some fights, but not such epic like "John Wick" or Indiana Jones's style adventures. Even so she did a great job. Could only wish more roles for her. The movie truly deserves mark above the middle, but not the top.
Carnival Row (2019)
Mediocre
The fantasy where you get fairies-hookers, sex between brother and sister, sex between woman and sheep-man. There is no steampunk, no Armageddon. Few kills and love story. CGI forests and ocean. Lack of places. No reasons for first two episodes. The last episode reveals all story.
Corporate Animals (2019)
Not Funny Black Comedy
I've watched this movie only because of its trailer, which was really curiosity. It is said that the genre of the movie is comedy and horror but it is not. There is nothing horror and funny. It's more like black comedy without comedy. The story is about a bunch of colleagues trapped in the cave during their corporate interaction course, which was failed (in my opinion). They do nothing to escape, just sitting and waiting, except two ladies which make love in the closed space. It appears that all of them try to manage their course in the cave without FOOD. As the food they had only one pack of a eatable cutlery: one fork, one spoon, and one knife. I don't know is that possible (eatable fork) or not, and the story do not reveal this too. However, the story reveals a new food source and that is a humanbody of a dead human (one of the group died). The director actually shows how they eat a raw meat. I don't know what was that. What is the covert message of the movie? Looks like a propaganda for future admissible cannibalism. That is not the only problem the movie has. There are some illogical points, which i will not describe because of spoilers.
American Horror Story: Neighbors from Hell (2017)
Boring
Interesting beginning, only 4 min. Than, during the whole episode S.Paulson were only crying. It was so annoying. In the end she as the main character became repulsive.
Mandy (2018)
Unusual movie
Very unusual movie with Nicolas Cage. I would say something like surreal. There is nothing special in the story, but in total with the hard music, sounds, and lights, cartoon dreams, violence, it makes The movie. The sound matches the movie well. I don't remember any other film like that. The only issue is the first hour of the movie. The film goes about 2 hours, but the main action begins after an hour. The first hour is all about speaking. Not many conversations but they are very slow and make some sence.
I rate it 9/10
