Utopia (2020)
Why did hbo even bother, unless discrediting the original was the goal.
Why did hbo take an incredible screen play and completely destroy it?
This is the film version of character assassination.
I'd rate this no stars.
I'd rate this 1/2 star if it were a film school project, a very limited resource high school project at that.
There is nothing to think except, "Why?"
There is nothing positive about it what-so-ever.
Finally, it is so bad, it's insulting.
Dark (2017)
Love the program, but, where are S02E9 and 10?
When will the final episodes of season 2 be released?
10 episodes per season, we've only seen 8 ep's of S2, Where is the remainder?
The story just ends mid-stream at ep8, there is no way that the season ends where it's been left hanging.
Could someone please find the missing ep's before S3 is released? !!!
Thanks
Artik (2019)
Sick mind, sick life, some sick reviews.
I intend sick to mean that, not cool or "awesome" as is the popular perversion of the day,
If, like "jester222" you think this wasn't gruesome, you're sick!
This was difficult to watch, and if this wasn't playing because it was next, and I wasn't busy doing things, I'd have turned it off.
Also, unlike how the so-called "story-line" describes it, it isn't abut a mental case teaching a boy how to get away with murder, (what idiot thought of that?), It's about a psychopath who thinks some truth will become apparent to himself and his son, at the moment of death after torturing someone to death.
As I stated, sick.
Though, begs the question of the state of mind of the movie maker. and perhaps the viewer?
Jacob's Ladder (1990)
Based upon true events, No S&%t!
Based upon CIA Project Bluebird: Operation Artichoke.
The first test was fitting, two VC were dosed and tore the CIA operatives to shreds!
After some tweaking (apparently), to the formula, it was tested on troops, and yes, they attacked each other and not the enemy.
Can be found in many history books on the blunders of the CIA. Worth reading, especially on the sections on the ridiculous attempts on Fidel Castro's life.
But, no bull, true story.
The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour (2011)
Pure comic genius.
This is undoubtedly the most original program for years. Not since the original SNL cast skits, Monty Python, League of Gentlemen has anything this outrageously creative come to pass. Surpasses Trailer Park Boys by far. Some of the jokes are very transparent, but, hey they had a time slot to fill--then there were the drugs! The various characters are brilliant, and Smith finally gets to shine.
Additionally, Maury Chaykin ("call me Potatoes, Potatoes O'Brien") in his final role, apparently being smuggled out of the hospital for the final scenes, then returned to the hospital where he passed away from terminal cancer the following day.
Genius, pure comic genius! But, if you haven't the slightest fondness of slap-stick, you may not enjoy this much. I'm puzzled why this is described as having 2 episodes when there are 6.
I hope we see something more from the Boys, it's been a while. Cheers 10 out of 10.
