The Sleep: Survival Horror - Part One (2022)
Contrary to other reviews.
Contrary to other reviews, i was curious, after seeing the WARNING at the start of the film. A disturbing look at experimenting on the public. It's not the best movie, and there were times it felt like a 'B' movie, but if you let yourself get into the film, it seems quite disturbing what kind of things are actually available to people these days.
I know there was the warning at the start, and i also have disabilities, but if you are of sound mind, watch it and make up your own mind. Obviously i have a quite unique perspective, so don't judge other reviews, make your own mind up.
If you like this review, please let me know.
Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021)
I've seen before.
I really recall seeing this before. At least 5 years or more ago. Who out there can confirm this? This is supposedly a 2021 series.??? Can anyone agree?
No Time to Die (2021)
James Bond, Double "o" six and a half.
As Daniel Craig stated that this was his last outing as James Bond, I hoped for better. For me, it was a disappointing outing. I found myself more concerned with things around my house than what was happening to him. One thing i must pick up on is that the "007" moniker was given to a person who James Bond was NOT, in the spirit of the original stories. It did not sit well with me, even though i am not racist. The same thing goes for "Doctor Who", stick to the original concept.
Corona Zombies (2020)
A classic modern 'B' movie.
I know the history of 'B' movies, and this is so cheesy, it's funny. Dubbing of voiceovers adds to the 'cheese' factor. There is more cheese than a cheddar factory, but really funny. I wonder if the acting is bad, or just doing 'B' movie really well. If you have some time to kill, i recommend it just for giggles. On that basis, i give it 6 out of 10.
Bloodshot (2020)
Mixed Blessings, But read my review.
First off, i thought this had the premise to be quite an intellectual and scientifically based movie, obviously with action (as always seems to be the way with Vin Diesel movies). But, it descended into the realms of Marvel and DC films that we have been overdosed with in recent years, where the "Hero" fights "Evil". If you shut off your comparisons to other recent action films, this is quite enjoyable. I would watch it again, but it is nowhere near the top of my list. Make up your own mind, and if you agree with opinion, give this review a 'Helpful' comment.
I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu (2019)
Please watch this, as if it were of the time of the original.
Please watch this, as if it were of the time of the original. If you do, then you will understand what the directors tried to do. Looking at this from a more modern perspective, you will likely be disappointed. Modern versions have a different 'edge' to them, but this is very in-keeping with the style of the original. The director has tried to keep the cinematography similar, and that is how i tried to view this movie. I only give this a '4' rating for that alone. Make your own minds up first.
Creep 2 (2017)
Poor sequel. I expected more.
I give this 2 out of ten in homage to the sequel number, but that is it. If you are a psychiatrist this is a good movie, but for the rest of us who want a scary horror, IT FAILS. I struggled to watched to the end, as it was so very slow. BUT, as with all movies i watch, i endure until the end, so that i have the full picture. I now think i wasted over 80 mins on something that could have better taken my time. In light of the first movie, i was expecting more, but was very disappointed. Do yourself a favour, and pick another movie to watch. I now find myself in the position that i need to find a better movie to watch, just to get the poor taste of this one out of my head.
Death Race 2050 (2017)
W.T.F. is this?
What the f*@k is this????? It's like police academy 2 meets hunger games meets camp, cheesy future-pop-culture garbage. I'm writing this after only 25 minutes, and so far, it is crap. Forget 'b' movie, think 'f' movie. The only reason i will watch the rest of it is just for the hope of blood and cool ingenious destruction.... Let's hope i see some, or i will write something less deserving than it already has.
Patriots Day (2016)
Average movie based on real-life events.
I saw this weeks ago. Although i am a fan of Mark Wahlberg, this seemed a very run-of-the-mill action crime movie. I cannot detract from the re- telling of real-life events (and never will), but this was average, as far as movie-going is concerned. The trailers, and other promotional aspects make this movie to be incredibly dramatic, and it came up short. I will say that it is still an enjoyable movie though.
Eureka (2006)
Semi-sibling question
Does anyone think that Erica Cerra is related to Emmanuelle Vaugier? They look the same, hail from the same place too, and it seems too coincidental of their looks to be just by chance. D.O.B. is far enough apart that it could be possible. Does anyone know for sure, or have an answer? Discuss...
I would be very curious to know what people think.
Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Poorly executed sequel.
Liam Hemsworth is a better actor than this poor showing, and i guess he took a bullet for it too. Seriously, a spaceship big enough to cover so much of the planet, and we weren't wiped out straight away, so very unrealistic.
And, what the hell is it with that orb? It was so cheesy, i nearly turned the movie off.
This could have been far better as a two-parter, instead, we were subjected to an immense amount of irrelevant crap and poor scene cutting that took up so much of the movie that you wonder what the hell it was all about, by the time you got to the end. I could go on for longer, but i prefer to use my time on movies that deserve it more. Only on rare occasions such as this, do i feel the need to say something at least.
Ghostbusters (2016)
Dismal... I felt like I was in a waking coma whilst watching this.
A terrible remake, with a plot that you would not miss, even if you did notice it.
I felt like i was in a waking coma throughout, and even more so when they lead cast started talking about how to tackle the ghosts.
The movie would not have lost anything, even if it was a SILENT movie.
The lead cast has no bond, and are totally unconvincing as scientists, like they were just reading off a script sheet, with no passion or excitement for the scientific achievements they created. It was more like they found their dads gun, and went out to play with it. The only regular character who has any hope of a career following this is Chris Hemsworth, who shows that he is capable of roles very different from Thor/action style movies.
The CGI was bad. For 21st century CGI capabilities in a big-budget movie, this was very below par. The colour saturation for the CGI ghosts was unbearably strong. Billboards everywhere. I hope they managed to recover some of the production cost losses, by all the product placements throughout the film.
This was painful from the start, and although i gave it a chance, it was not very long before i thought i would have to staple my eyelids open, just to get to the end.
With all the CGI ghosts in a wide-angle shot, it looked as though New York was going to suffer a mega-disaster of biblical proportions, and i was right, but it was not the ghosts that were the cause, it was the movie itself being linked to New York.
If there is a God out there, please DO NOT let this have a sequel, even though it was hinted at near the end of the film.
Person of Interest (2011)
Good plot-lines, and unexpected character empathy.
I had watched 'The Blacklist' from the beginning, and loved every minute of it. I have only just started watching 'Person of Interest' from the beginning, and thought that it had copied 'The Blacklist', but upon getting to season two of this, i researched it on IMDb and found out that this was released first. I believe that this was the forerunner or inspiration for 'The Blacklist'. The last film or production i saw 'Jim Caviezel' was in the film 'Frequency', and he was good in that too. In this, he has a dark smouldering mystery about him, and i find that to be a good TV character trait. I get the feeling that there is more to be revealed regarding him.For those of you who know 'Michael Emerson', he has the same manipulative and mysterious persona about him that he had in 'Lost', and fans of him in that will see his similar and familiar personality traits in this too. He almost gives the impression of continuing his 'Lost' character into this too. I loved 'Lost', and it was about time that he was given a lead character role. He does not disappoint in this. If you are like me, you will see some of your favourite actors/actresses in many TV shows, and love that they get all the best work, appreciating them for their choices of characters. No spoilers here, just watch and enjoy it.
Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards (2016)
Battle of the Bastards
I have loved 'A Game of Thrones' since the beginning. But, in light of this latest episode, i have to admit that it was the most powerful and spectacular episode ever. It was a true delight to watch. I have just finished watching it, and i'm now going to replay it again. Words are hardly enough to explain what a good episode this is, and i will not give spoilers but encourage you to watch it yourself. IMDb users have given this a 10/10 rating for a bloody good reason. Forget other shows, this is immense. George R R Martin has written one of the most intense and engaging stories ever. A song of Ice and Fire is an epic by any literary standards.
Pandemic (2016)
Watch this if you have nothing better to do one night.
Rachel Nichols could have done a lot better than this. She was great in 'Continuum'. Alfie Allen could also have done better than this, he was great in 'A Game of Thrones'. By the way, his sister 'Lily Allen', the singer, lives about five miles away from me. I have tried watching this, but have regularly paused the movie, and it has now taken me a whole day to get through it. I will not write spoilers, and i leave the final conclusion up to you, but please don't expect a great movie. All i can say is that you watch it and make up your own mind. After watching Alfie Allen in 'Game of Thrones' it seems like his voice has been dubbed in this movie, and does not feel right. The movie seems quite painful from beginning to end and i would not recommend you buying this on any format. It's quite sad that a great actor and actress were involved in this poor zombie movie. Zombie movies have been 'Done to death', so to speak, and the recent emergence in popularity by the studios of the genre does not add to it very much. Don't waste a night or a bucket of popcorn on this. Just watch it if you have nothing better to do.
