The Trust Fall: Julian Assange (2023)
The State of the World
I personally don't know why everyone doesn't give it a 10. The world is in a horrendous mess due to the powers that be cracking down on freedom of speech. The film blatently shows totally disrespect for human life and Law. Country constitutions to protect the citizen don't seem to be worth the paper they are written on.
We are surrounded by people trafficking, democide, genocide, animal cruelty, and many other truly abhorrent actions. This film clearly shows a person's journey and the many governments' vindictive torture of a person who believes in REAL journalism.
I personally feel I have a right to know if soldiers are killing people with cameras that they think are guns then laughing about it. It's totally outrageous, unbelieveable and no one has been held responsible.
We really are at a crucial time where people need to stand up for 'Freedom of Speech' and 'The Truth'. I don't care if it was 2 hours 8 mins, that's a drop in the ocean compared to the time Julian has been incarcerated.
Unfortunately as with many documentaries on Human Rights it will most likely only be seen by people who have followed Julian's story or people who care for the future of the children and planet.
I wish I knew how to oust the nutters in charge of the world.
I wish more people cared instead of burying their head in the sand.
One of the best spent 2 hours 8 minutes of my life.
Free Julian Assange!
Highway to Heaven: A Divine Madness (1984)
Highway to Heaven Rocks
I have so much respect for Michael Landon, sadly taken from us too early. I am not a religious person but I do aspire to be a moral one. Working in computers I am quite techical but a stalwart follower of Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.
I've just seen this King Arthur episode and it still amazes me how they come up with the range of stories they do, I thought this episode was fantastic, I mean there is a 'King Arthur' and the series team still manage to portray a situation which unfolds in an 'entertaining' yet clever way creating a satifying ending.
The humanity in this episode is lovely and the meaning behind it delivered well as with so many of the HTH episodes (I'd say all but I am a massive fan so biased).
The Christmas Shepherd (2014)
what a shame
I really like the main 2 actors but hey, some people look after a dog for 2 weeks and a person who's husband bought it back from Afghanistan and has had the dog for 5 years has no say.
Totally ruined what could have been a pleasant Christmas film. I tend not to review much but as the cat is ignoring me, had to voice my thoughts somewhere.
Ridiculous plot which has quite upset me as well as annoy me. I mean the fact she falls for this selfish man (I am assuming she does) who has no balls to tell his daughter that she can't keep someone else's dog is beyond me.
The selfish, spoilt daughter who has no empathy for the real owner of the dog for 5 years! This is wrong, where's the Christams spirit?
I am not going to watch the rest even if it is a happy ending as the whole idea that the father and daughter didn't hand the dog back immediately is sickening, rant over, oh sorry review over.
Around the Block (2013)
Fantastic Film
Just watch it! I have been TV less for 3 weeks and watching a lot of online films.I just dont understand the low scores, its like people are tearing these films apart and from what is a great movie they are finding things to dislike that dont even exist, maybe it is the reviewees own narrow mindedness or the urge to 'have their (damning) voice' heard. It's a beautiful film; the acting was super and the story about 'hope' in deciding your own path when life as it does makes it difficult. Don't read the miserable reviews from the film police, just watch it.
Hardcore Henry (2015)
Just loved it - FPS view was super idea
As a woman nearing my 50s this was a total surprise to me as I picked it up without knowing anything about it and what a blast! I am a fan of FPS so right up my street. I must say I can't wait to see it again. 90 minutes of original, fun packed, shoot em action and gore to make you squirm and at points comedy that makes you laugh. The team involved in the whole film process deserve an applause, I love it when I watch a film that surprises me, I'm in awe of the GoPro concept and how well it was delivered. You have to give it a chance. For me it was like watching one of my skilled (of which I am not) gamer friends fly through a complex game level by level - absolute buzz to watch, such wonderful entertainment.
