Amazing tip of the cap to the 50's detective movies
11 April 2024
Colin Farrell is simply perfect in this role. Vulnerable yet strong, serious yet fun, and mysterious yet open. Really stellar supporting cast with beautiful scenery of LA. A real trip back in time to the old style self-narrated private directive genre. Apple hasn't disappointed and continues its excellent record of releasing excellent limited series like this one. The only negative is in a world of instant gratification, waiting for a whole week for a new episode is torturous! But this is most certainly work the wait. Finally, I also love the embedded black and white clips from old detective movies throughout. It adds to the intrigue for me.

Violence against a child? I'm out
6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One scene in the movie ruined it for me. An extremely distressing and violent scene where a child is murdered. No matter what the rationale to include this in any movie, it's unjustified. In fact it's the only violent murder scene of a child I have ever seen in a movie. Sorry, as a father, it's not for me.

Is there no end to Christopher Nolan's pretentiousness?
16 December 2020
Even for Christopher Nolan, this is beyond ridiculous. The movie uses silly (and obviously faux) physics tangled in a thesaurus-lovers knot to try to confuse the viewer. But when you see beyond the fact that if Christopher Nolan was chocolate he would eat himself, you at least get to enjoy Washington's excellent performance. Thank god for this, otherwise this would have been a step too far...even for Nolan. Avoid this movie if you like to enjoy every minute of life!

Could and should have been shorter
15 November 2020
They really dragged this out. 3-4 episodes would have been fine. It held my interest until the 5th episode and then I was bored but persevered until the end. Not a great series and very poorly edited.

Contrived documentary by an egomaniac m
14 June 2020
I was (and still am) a huge fan of Garth's music but this movie shows not only is the man a complete egomaniac, but the he is deluded if he thinks people don't see through the fake whispering and crocodile tears throughout the entire documentary. Really disappointed to see what the man is really like. They say never meet your heros, well, never let your heros make a documentary if they have nothing but nonsense to spout!

Bad Irish accents and shocking plot
2 May 2020
Definitely one to miss. Was looking forward to seeing this but the faux-Irish accents from British and Danish actors is very off-putting. Not a good plot either. And slow moving.
