Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
Supremely Mediocre, Goodbye Voot forever!
Started watching this show because of the Buzz, utterly disappointed. Kept waiting for the moment that justifies 8+ imdb rating, it never arrived. I guess regular Voot users have not seen any other OTT platforms.
Sane viewers have already pointed out flaws, here are some additional points.
1) The concept in the climax of choosing between lives is a direct adaptation of Dark Night, the execution was pathetic.
2) Barun Sobti (Nikhil) is a pathetic actor. I didn't see any expression in his face except for that forever sad look.
3) Why did the director add plot of sending Arshad Warsi to Jail? That did not make any sense, he was operating from jail just like he would've from outside. No significance.
4) That guy Kesar was injected with a drug in interrogation room. Director kind of forgot that had happened as it did not have any impact on him.
5) How did Nikhil's wife become a cyber security expert to a hacker breaking locks as a pro.
Can write many more on the illogical sequences, but my only conclusion is this series does not deserve so much attention
Malang - Unleash the Madness (2020)
Stupid, Don't waste your time!
Extremely bad story, nothing makes sense. Action scenes just for the sake of it. Watched on prime now, wasted 2 hours. Surprised it is rated 6.7, I guess Mohit Suri has his audience who likes this type of content which can't even be considered mediocre level.
Super 30 (2019)
Pathetic direction and execution, surprised to see 8+ on imdb!
After Shaandar, this is the next solo directorial attempt from Vikas Bahl yet I decided to give it a try looking at positive reviews. It seemed like his sole aim was to over dramatize each and every sequence in the movie to make it sensational for the audience. When such an attempt is made on a real life story, it rather end up becoming overly frustrating. Questions were raised on Hritik's casting choice and skin tone, but he has failed to deliver a convincing role even otherwise. I in fact felt like looking at glimpses of his Koi Mil Gaya face in a few scenes where he is trying to portray self as kinda Mathematics maniac.
Dramatization was such that one just could not digest, few starkly frustrating sequences were:
- Boy crossing rapids and river in a raft on his own to reach Patna
- Goons openly challenge to kill Anand Kumar and 30 kids still no one protects them. They come and attack with loaded guns and kids defeat them
- One boy ran away from the class and didn't appear for the exam yet all 30 passed for IIT
- Doctor blatantly refuses to treat injured Anand Kumar, nursing staff is able to treat a man who is shot and bleeding
So many such instances which threw me off, Not watching Vishal's movies ever!
Cash on Delivery (2017)
Extremely bad
You can give this movie a miss. They tried to copy a lot of ideas from different Bollywood films, but the direction is so pathetic, it makes you angry. Patchy editing, fullish fight scenes, don't waste your time.
