Don't Risk what you can't afford to Lose!

I was always so very angry that Fatal Attraction was SUPPOSED to make you sympathetic to the Poor Fellow who only had a "One Night Stand"-- with a stranger.. And paid. Dearly.

If these guys had such Valuable Relationships/Marriages... well, you know the other part of that sentence.

Now again. Poor guy.

How about you make the Plot about the Woman in the Relationship be the one collecting trophies?

Now, that would at least be novel. (but also useless) The Streaming Services are pushing the mediocre just to fill spots on the Menu. And yet they are concerned that we are losing interest.

I could not finish beyond a few minutes.

I have just finished it, and I am asking: "What exactly was the Plot hey had to foil?" I'm actually not clear.

What it did become was a Maze-- who was a Good Guy and who couldn't be Trusted? Endless Good/Bad forks in the road.

(best guess: if over 40-- don't Trust, Under 40 -- Trust-- but that is just a rule of guessing) A Melange of a whole number of shows-- 24, Body Guard, Patriot Games, etc. Heroes having to prove they are not Traitors.

Excellent, however, The Women are Smart. Some are even Experts! They take actions on their own, not waiting for Rescue. Finally!!

I suspect it makes a much better Binger than a slow and steady-- which would likely result in becoming easily distracted.

I wouldn't watch it for the acting. It was adequate.

The Brits have a thing for the Aristocracy being evil.

Again the bad guy is the Rich old coot.

The difference is it is the Earl of Downton!!

At least this time it is a Male victim, not the age old Female in crisis... Unrealistic beyond beyond.

A bit of blood at the end... but not a bloody story.

If you like the Evil Sadist and the search to stop him... OK.

TOM SWIFT. Boy Inventor. Series of books by Victor Appleton (pseudonym) IF you have a budding Engineer/Physicist PLEASE find the books!! This is not the same!

Series goes back to at least the 1920's when my Father in Law was reading them. I discovered them independently in the early 60's.

Gifted them to my Son in the early 90's.

What is key-- Victor Appleton.. wrote them all (contributions of many authors!) -- There were no Submarines in my FIL set. I hadn't personal computers.

My Son was gifted Black Holes.

New variations at the edge of Physics each time.

This to all of us is a destruction of the tastiest entree into Invention and Engineering --we all became Engineers.

WHY must the destroy a character/series so very much? Could they have not invented a new Name? Using the TS will absolutely NOT bring in the Readers...

How does anyone believe that in our huge world, these kids would end up knowing each other???

I don't know if I want to watch this.

The Theme of Mommy-Guilt is currently a popular plotline.

If the Nanny isn't ideal... If there is a problem... Then Mom should have stayed Home.

So very much to recommend. I do not even know how to start.

I am starting #5 out of 6.. and still do not know a bit about how this will resolve. Multiple Countries, with multiple Investigators.. So many many clues. So much unexpected information.

Who to trust? Who is going to be sinister, without us knowing?

One of the very very best things: As many Women in solid roles, with Brains, and not a bit of hinted hanky-panky. Fellow Professionals. The way it SHOULD be!

To have watched 4 Episodes, with no idea how they will all fit together-- done with no tricks, or extra nonsense.

Thankfully no side stories of messed up home lives, drug habits or alcoholism.

I'm rambling, but it is so very very welcome to see a Show that is not paint-by-the-numbers. Without lazy plot solutions. Thank the Writers, and everyone else involved!

The satire of Trey and. Matt is genius.

It continues to keep up with current topics, and gets sharper year after year!

That they can write Musicals as well. Amazing.

Very hard to consider it from same as Shetland, Vera!

The ONLY good thing about this is how beautiful Devon is.

It is the most artificial, awkward, slow moving story-- People identified by name-- are never seen, or maybe seen briefly.

Difficult to follow.

Anti-Religion. (and I am not religious) If it wasn't 4 consecutive nights, I would have quit. But I would have forgotten the names and the Plot in between!

I'm halfway through #4.. and I'm still not certain exactly what is happening, a sort of Poster for Gay life, anti-religion, crazy people.

As a 10 year old at the time, this nails so much of what I remember.

It is the British perspective, so it isn't even as frightening as the view from the US.

"Seven Days in May" --when we thought Kruschev was crazy enough to really annihilate us... And it doesn't go away.

The signoff has the "They installed a Red Phone, PREVENTING us from coming so close." Really??

Hopefully there will always be some sensible people on BOTH sides forever.

An Insult to Women, and although I am not Military-- I assume it is also an insult to the Intelligence of the Military-- It might have had a chance to say something Intelligent and Sound about the Conflict... But they blew it.

They walked into every possible Cliche and every possible trap they could have avoided.

If they had wanted to do something proper, they had the chance.

Much of the fault is the horrible acting of the Lead Actor, Anna Friel She has gone on to be horrible (or perhaps the Victim of awful scripts) in British "Marcella" -- There's no excuse for Horrible acting!

This is NOT a Documentary-- it is "Reality TV" How can this all be.. without any French natives?

Seems quite aloof- or selfish-- Certainly appropriation of someone else's Country!

As with so much "Realtiy TV" -- (NOT Documentary) there is a lot to suspend judgement about. While perhaps they had creative ideas, the story says they had $20k to finish the restoration with. !!! Misleading at the least.

Sudden appearance of major Tools, equipment belies the idea of DYI.

I can see a number of negative Reviews from people annoyed at the Portrayal of Life on the Sub.. Very Sorry, Truly.

Nonetheless, it is a Great Thriller.

Meanwhile, I cannot see credits for the. Location Filming.

Did they actually recreate an entire area of a Sub for this?

How accurately regarding the Location/Scenes?

(I cannot imagine they got access to a REAL sub.. but would be thrilled to hear otherwise!)

Many comparisons made.. but I would go to "I Will Destroy You" -- The idea that there's a dramatic, rich inner life going on inside individual Women is a new exploration.

And that it is not all Pink, soft and comforting, is bracing. This is a Woman, like most, who want to be good for each of the people around them.-- to always please, always accommodate and support... Yet the price is high.

Start early in life.. and most of us do... and finding a way out is an ugly process. The World is not made for unconventional Women. For Individuals.

The battle with herself in the last episode is so telling. Her internal narrative, as she calls her "Voice Over" is so revealing.

All these incredible actors. So much potential.

Yet... the breakdown of a marriage, just as you'd predict-- No surprises. (yet a beautiful setting!)

Slow, almost relentless.

So very many in that generation lived the life they were told to live.

Men supported, but distant. Women family focussed, without outside world.

It makes for an empty late-middle age.

Watch for the Acting... if these are your favorites. Skip if you are looking for action or plot.

"young, cute, libertine, tough, confident," CUTE??? Since when do we call Professional Women "Cute"?? First episode, we watch her make.choices that are cringeworthy.... Going to a deserted Parking Garage.. at night? Getting in a strange car....not knowing where it is going? Alone? This is to show "cute"? or "libertine"? It appears LIBERTINE means Rude and willful. not clever LATER... If you can ignore the first episode or 2.. This Series improves greatly. Overall I would RECOMMEND!!

And I'm American. The changes they make are never assets to the work. It was explained to me that the money of transporting a show to the US is more expensive than a remake, with US staff, actors (tho this has David Tennant) -- Makes no sense to me, but it is a financial decision. They are now, some 6 years later, doing joint ventures -- under Netflix umbrella, or Amazon.. PBS Masterpiece/Itv. Apparently solves the problem.

I certainly hope they don't "Americanize" everything.

I''m only in the 2nd Episode.. a ways yet to go- but I'm truly enjoying this unexpected gift. I can definitely see the Phoebe Waller Bridge flavor! Just touch of unexpected, with very human dialog. I am really interested in what adventure it will take me on!

I'd say just about perfect for Isolation Watching!

I completely disagree with the choices this community makes- but as a story-- How could it have ended any differently, and still be a plot? Would the Audience (Producers, etc) have permitted anything different?

So in all, this is a story of How and Why-- but not IF.
