The Whale (2022)
Amazingly heartbreaking
This film left me sobbing for a good ten minutes!!
Fraser is utterly amazing in this. His performance is outstanding and deserves every nomination coming his way.
It forces the audience to continue watching despite knowing all along how this will end. There's never even a hint of salvation but you just can't help but watch and see it through. You almost accept it early on along with 'the whale"
It's a story of life lost, mental health challenges and grief and the astounding effects they can have physically.
It forces the viewer to face subjects they may be uncomfortable with such as obesity and look at it head on. A very thought provoking movie.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
Absolutely brilliant!
I don't understand any bad reviews here.
It has action, mystery, intrigue and great CGI. What's not to love?
I was engrossed in this series from beginning to end and binged both seasons over two days.
Great main characters that you will route for right til the end!
Think squid games meets hunger games.
Very original. How do writers come up with these kind of ideas. This series is unique and will take you to a different world. You won't find out what's going on til the end,
The only question is......will there be a season3???
It does end with the possibility of another season so here's hoping. Netflix more like this please!
Aftersun (2022)
Wonderful film making. Cried my eyes out!
This movie will make you feel uneasy throughout. Like you know somethings wrong and something bad is going to happen but you just can't quite put your finger on it.
The director very skilfully edges the audience right up until the credits. It's only then that all the subtle clues fall into place and you can make your mind up about what happened because it doesn't freely give you the answer.
A film that gives you a true sense of feeling those memories and hanging onto them with loved ones.
I've never watched a film that made me feel and live the emotions as if I was in the story before. Brilliant. Absolutely heartbreakingly brilliant.
This director is amazing as are the cast. Bring tissues.
My Policeman (2022)
Wonderfully sad
This film was so much more than I was expecting! It's a beautiful story and the chemistry between the younger characters was fantastic.
This is a beautiful reminder of how far we have come and a shocking reminder of how things used to be in the 1950s
The intimacy scenes were wonderful and tastefully shot. From early on you can feel the spark and tension between Tom and Patrick.
David Dawson is a brilliant Patrick and Harry styles did a great job with Tom. Emma corrin was wonderful as always.
My only criticism is I didn't recognise the older characters to be a good fit. They didn't seem to embody the characters as the younger actors.
All in all a great movie which left me in tears.
Blonde (2022)
Not the glamorous story I was expecting
I hadn't heard anything about this film apart from the rave reviews for anas performance. Which is in parts exceptional.
This is a dark Hollywood story that I wasn't prepared for. Very dark and sometimes hard to watch.
I'm unsure how accurate a lot of the film is but it left me feeling uneasy. A real story of how Marilyn was used by men throughout her life.
Maybe if I'd been warned before watching I could have gone in with an open mind but it's left me with questions and lots of them.
Very disturbing but I ultimately couldn't stop watching. Enjoyable? No. Interesting? Yes. And I liked the way it was shot, gave a real sense on Marilyn's mind at the time.
Would I watch again? Nope.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Seen it all before!
The worst of this film isn't even the bad press and controversy surrounding it. It isn't even the poor acting from Mr Styles nor is it the predictable plot and all the holes in the story of this film.
The worst part is the experience of watching this in a theatre of young female Harry styles fans that scream every time he's in the screen! It was completely ridiculous and ruined even the small parts that were okay.
If you don't want to be surrounded by hysterical teenage girls save your money and wait until it comes on screening channels in about 2 weeks. All in all a complete dud. Just watch stepford wives, it's exactly the same plot.
Booksmart (2019)
What a load of rubbish!
Just watched this on Amazon prime after seeing Olivia Wilde thrown into the headlines recently. Thought I'd give it a go but don't waste your time. This is a teenage movie and just for kids. Explains a lot lol
