The Final Game of Death (2023)
Wow! Now this is what you call a special feature!
When I first heard about this special feature of how it contained all the footage shot for Game of Death. All the multiple takes etc, and that also with no sound. I thought to myself that it would be one boring tiresome thing to watch. Boy was I wrong! Kudos to the team who put this together. It was brilliant! The music they used to score the background of all the footage and takes was a evocative rendition of themes from Bruce Lees previous movies, which was really haunting and emotive and fit perfectly.
Seeing all this footage, some for the first time in 50 years was also thrilling.
The new credits they produced were also amazing and really made you feel that this was how the credits would have probably looked like.
Sadly the downside was the awful dubbing for the final edit. It is really bad. So bad that each time someone spoke it took me out of the movie. Also the voiceover for the new introduction scene with the projector was beyond ridiculous, and sound as if someone was putting on a fake racist accent. Also the lack of the John Barry theme during the final fight scenes is sorely missed. It's just not the same without it. Hopefully one day someone can edit all the footage properly and do it real justice. (Game of Death Redux 3.0?)
The Killers (1946)
An amazing first 15 minutes!
After an amazing first 15 minutes which is just pure class, the film sadly drops to average, even below average as it really begins to drag. If only it retained the same quality, look, feel and dialogue throughout the whole movie that was used in the classic opening scene. If it did, then I can understand all the high ratings. However sadly what is a boring middle and average ending, is why I give this such a low mark. The stand out performances for me in the movie was not Lancaster or Gardner, but the two hitmen we see at the beginning. My advice, watch the opening first 15 minutes only and then read the short story the movie was based on instead.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)

Ok after watching the awesome trailer for Matrix Resurrection a gazillion times I was so looking forward to watching this.
Then sadly reading the scathing attacks the movie was getting from people leaving it really bad reviews, it dampened my expectations as I thought this was another occasion where they had produced an awesome trailer but the movie was yet again a major letdown.
So this evening I sat back and put on the movie expecting it to be garbage, boring and a movie that would drag and put me to sleep.
Instead I was glued to the screen from beginning to end and I LOVED it!! I'm even gonna go ahead and say I would watch this a hundred times before I ever watch the awful 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies. Heck in SOME aspects I think it's even better then the original. Yes I said it. If you don't like it you can go chew on a lemon for 2 hours.
I would give it a solid 7 or 7.5 but due to all the negative reviews people are leaving it I'm giving it an 8.
One word to describe this movie.. AWESOME!
Ignore the haters and fan boys. Watch the movie and make up your own mind people.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
A haunting emotional masterpiece..
This movie is a haunting emotional masterpiece that you probably never want to watch again. It truly showcases the horrors of war and the impact it has on the lives of people, especially children. The ending was absolutely heart-wrenching. This is a movie that will make you want to help people who are going through the difficulties of war. After you have seen this movie, take some time out and make a donation to a charity who is providing aid work in war torn countries or helping refugees. Also give thanks and blessings for having a roof over your head and enough food to eat.
