Very cute

This is a very imaginative story, suited for people who enjoyed shows like Just Add Magic and The Worst Witch. Very cute! World and characters are fun, and actors are genuinely good. It's a good ensemble, which seems to all work well together.

Like an old Bill Murray movie
31 May 2021
Remember the old Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Martin Short style movies? If you enjoyed them, you'll love this. Richard Speight, Jr and his amigos are delightful. You can definitely see the old SNL heyday comedies' traits shine through. It's rare now. Take a chance on this one on a day when you want something very light and enjoy the banter.

1 & 2 are interesting but 3 is amazing
6 November 2020
So I really only watched this because it wasn't my turn to choose our next family show. I don't care for anime in general, but I do love a good story told well. The animation is rough at first, but even that is just kind of cool. Seasons 1 and 2 are character and world building. Then season 3+, the show gets truly amazing. They're artful with the death and gore instead of bloody and gross, so even though the fights are intense (and definitely have consequences for the warrior heroes), it isn't bloody and realistic. Beasts break into ash when killed, and blood is shown like rose petals most of the time. The story is extremely good as it moves forward. I went in just thinking I would watch because my daughter and husband liked it, but I truly liked it far more than I thought I would.

Incredibly good cast
31 July 2019
It's not so difficult to entertain me, but it isn't easy to impress me. This cast is incredibly impressive. Episode one and two, I watched for the plot and wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. But now I'm completely hooked. The actors, especially the kids, are fabulous. The little tiny details each actor gives brings authenticity to everything. And sure, we can all overthink the writing if we really want to, but come on. It's both sci fi and fantasy, AND it's a tribute to a show from decades before they had smart phones here on earth. It's very rare that a show will completely hook me. This one has. I often have the problem of guessing what will happen next in shows of this genre. But LiS doesn't give me time to predict-it's a constantly moving story. I love that. So relax, get some popcorn, and enjoy the ride. And don't overthink it. You'll just be hurting yourself.

Lovely show, lovely energy!
20 July 2019
This show is just so enjoyable! We checked out of the library or bought every one we could find when my little one was a baby. We were at the library this week, and I pointed it out to her as something she used to like. She asked if we could check it out again. She fell in love with it all over again, as a nearly-8 year old! She's been signing around the house all day, and asking good questions about what it means to be deaf. It's an upbeat show with fun songs, nice visuals, and funny characters, played by Leah, who is deaf, and her cousin Alex, who is hearing, and her mother Rachel, who signs clearly and sings beautifully. Just fantastic.
