Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom (2003)
Row the Boat, Visit the Karma of Life, Get the Innocence of Salvation and... Row the boat again!
This movie is a poem of tranquility about the changing seasons and the meditation of the cycle of life. It already hits hard when you complete the first spring part of the film. It foreshadows the future outcome of the characters, past life of them and the entire film to be honest.
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and... Spring (2002) is visually so satisfying that it kept me hooked throughout the entire film despite being an almost silent feature. The cinematography talks about the silence of solitude, love, innocence, corruption, intimacy, Karma, spirituality and redemption. It's really amazing to think how the director pulled off such a voluptuous and spiritual journey not only of the characters but also of the atmosphere, the location and the entire world which revolves around the story throughout the movie. This is one of the most beautiful philosophical cinema I've ever seen. Hats off to Kim Ki Duk, the maestro!
When we seek happiness outside ourselves, we are never truly content. This philosophy is the main protagonist of this hypnotic masterpiece of Kim Ki Duk. The entire movie floats around our mind like the monasterial hut. The circle of life is everlasting, innocent and redemptive. Our life is a boomerang and we, the human beings, are the athletes who control their own boomerangs.
YouTumor (2021)
Cheap, Cringy, Lame and Unexpected!
Never expected that the guy who made @18 all time dourer upor and Bikal Belar Pakhi would make trash like this. It promotes nothing but mediocrity, cheap thrills and lame unfunny moments which they're calling "Dark Comedy" lol. Disgusting work!
Morichika (2021)
Why does this thing exist as a web series rather than a Movie?
Very pretentious work by Shihab Shaheen. Bunch of bad actors except Nisho and that OC. Director couldn't use his actors properly. Very innovative cinematography and shot selection but still this work overall is an example of utter disappointment.
Sherni (2021)
Thought-Provoking but a Cinematic Failure!
Inspite of being thought-provoking and subtle comedic, this movie is a pure disconnection from its main subject. Amit Masurkar lost his main focus during filming. Utter disappointment after the Great NEWTON. They could do better if they filmed it in a format of a half an hour documentary. Very stretchy storytelling and unnecessary dumb shots.
Kingdom of Clay Subjects (2016)
Absolute Masterpiece. It's on the league of Pather Panchali, Children of Heaven and The Clay Bird.
Bangladesh finally proves that the versatile and cinematic geniuses they have are absolutely phenomenal. Bijon, the director of this masterpiece, portrayed the beautiful side of the local rural life and the haunting version of it at the same time. The beauty of Islam and the illiterate manipulative people who misuse Islam(or any religion) and lives on it, both sides have been shown very hauntingly.
Very ambitious attempt from Bangladesh despite the budget issue and it's successful both critically and generally. For the very little number of theatres across the country and lack of promotion, this movie couldn't acquire the hype it deserved. Very well-decorated cinematography, mesmerising camera work, astonishing sequences and near-perfect screenplay possible in this medium. We want more feature films from this team. Kudos!
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)
Bruuh! This is the best Byomkesh adaptation after Ray's "Chiriyakhana"
Bruhh! What a gore-thrilling, eye-pleasing and heartwarming experience of Byomkesh Bakshy! It's the best Byomkesh adaptation after Satyajit Ray's one, according to me. And Neeraj Kabi, what a guy! Why isn't he getting more international movies/tv-series?
I liked how DIBAKAR BANERJEE gave a Korean treatment to both the screenplay and the cinematography.
9/10
Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969)
Some GODLY Cinematic Experience!!!!!!
I think anyone of us has no capability to rate or review such GODly Creation.
I don't want to degrace this masterpiece by my childish word coming from zero knowledge of cinema.
One line I would like to sing as a tribute to Ray is :
"Maharaja, Tomare Selam!!"
