Very nice suprise this show, very good!
27 November 2023
I watched all 3 seasons now and the episodes are getting better and better. It may be sometimes a bit over the top, but this show is brimming with good dialogue, interesting situations, action and complex characters. As a Romanian, I can appreciate fully the dialogue, which in English may not be translated totally, and it is sometimes hilarious. So many funny expressions appear which are used by the bottom of society, thugs, etc. Of course the show is a bit exaggerated, it is not a true depiction of life in Romania, but the characters are very vivid and situations are as good as those I saw in Narcos or Sopranos.

So this show is definitely worth the watch. It has some of the best Romanian actors. HBO Europe deserves kudos for making this series, and they should continue with other Romanian series in the future. Romanian theatre is extremely good, as well as some films (especially older ones), but now is the time to bring all this talent and ideas to make good tv series.

The Creator (2023)

Good premise in theory, but poor story and bad acting in reality..
19 November 2023
This movie is a poorly conceived politically correct hodge-podge of references to other sf movies. Its premise is promising and could have been a truly interesting film, but as it is, it seems incomplete and very lacking in its script. It has a lot of inconsistencies and illogical scenes. The acting of John Washington is monotonous and quite poor, it feels he got this role only because he is the son of Denzel. The whole premise of humans, simulants and robots bonding like real people seems far-fetched and illogical. Also the political correctness is ridiculous--east Asia is good, the West is bad; humans are mostly bad, but robots and simulants are good! The main character Joshua has no remorse killing many humans, but is very touchy-feely about hurting robots and simulants... Why so much crying in this film, are robots able to cry without programming? The premise of the movie that robots and simulants are just people is moronic, the AI would have capabilities far beyond humans in terms of computing, reflexes, speed, memory, etc. They would not be crying, loving, praying, etc.

The movie has many scenes reminiscent of Blade Runner, Matrix, I robot, Elysium, Total Recall, etc. However they are badly put together, the movie is not convincing. For eg the simulants and robots live alongside humans, and even have religious beliefs?! Why were they created and by whom? Why some are robots, and other simulants (robots with human face)? Why were many simulants on board of the Nomad, which was American thus free of robots? And if Nomad was so powerful, why didn't it find the simulants sooner? There appears also a machine with many tentacles like those in Matrix, but why is it attacking Joshua, what was its purpose otherwise?

I give this movie 3 stars instead of 2, only because it has nice CGI. So it's ok to watch once if you are SF fan (like me), however the dumb plot is annoying and the movie as a whole is disappointing.

This movies is ok, not bad, not great...
13 August 2023
I saw the latest Indiana Jones, it is ok, but I hope it is the last one! It is ridiculous to force an old man of 80 years or so to play movie after movie. Indiana Jones was/is an action adventure, and it is really not suited for an 80-year od to play something like this. What 80year old can punch 2-3 young guys, then run, then jump, then climb, etc. It is too much... realy.. just stop. The movie itself was quite fun, although I didn't really like the character of Helen. I liked that the movie was about the Antykythera mechanism, which is a real discovery and stil holds some mysteries. The movie tries all the old tricks, paranorml activity, crawlers, bugs, snakes/eels, ancient relics, Indiana's hat and whip, a boy, an old friend (Baz), old codes/languages, Arhimedes, etc. However, this should really be the LAST film, in this series.

Quite interesting, and not so terrifying as Ex machina..
14 May 2023
I think the marks given to this film are too low, without good reason. While it is not a masterpiece, the film is not that bad. I liked the idea of dreams for robots. Also the music is nice, and of course the bodies of these women, especially Meredith. Elena is quite fit, and plays quite well. Could this film have been made better? Yes. However it feels poor, few special effects, like it was made with a very small budget.... Ex machina was simply terrifying, and this is a problem with AI, it cannot be controlled by humans. It becomes so powerful and omnipotent, that no human can understand or control it.

The Last of Us (2023– )
5/10
Largely overrated...
6 March 2023
In general tv series or films made after video games are not very good. "Last of us" is just that, a decent series, not bad, but not good either. I mean the premise and some special effects are quite interesting, but large parts of the show are just ridiculous or stretched too long, without substance. Also what is with the gay agenda, already there are 2 episodes with gay characters...this is exaggerated. Also the show is too diluted, nothing much happens. For eg in the last episode that I watched, they go to a mall and goof around for most of the episode (1 hr)--I was waiting for an Infected to come and finish this stupidity already... Also many ideas that could be promising are not explored. For eg they go to a deserted univ campus and out of nowhere appear 3 guys that just happen to be there?!... Just a waste of time, the action and ideas so far could have been better presented in only 3 episodes.

A good intriguing show
1 January 2023
I have just finished watching all 10 episodes of Season 1. Very interesting show. Hardly can wait for season 2. Perrineau acts superbly. I liked also Victor's character. Some of the other actors were quite good, for eg the chinese woman. Other actors were not so good. It is a combination of Lost, Stranger things and The Cube, but with more. Season 1 leaves you hanging with many questions. I personally have several theories. Could there be some aliens? Or a huge government experiment? Or are they dreaming? Or were they taken to a separate dimension, or to the future? We'll see.. A good show to binge around holidays!

Way too long and unnecessarily pretentious
24 November 2022
This show started as something quite interesting, but it drags for too long... Of course there is the strangeness and ridiculousness that, even if the characters speak different languages (danish, english, german, french, spanish, portuguese, chinese, polish, etc) they still understand each other. However, every episode was just like a bubble gum being stretched more and more, to the point of ridicule... Ok, we understand they are in a simulation, but the dialogue and actions are mostly unnecessary and just fillers. This show should have been only 3-4 hours long or less. It is too diluted. Now they will make also season 2... if it is similarly diluted, I think i will not watch it. Just convoluting the show this much won't make it smart, just boring..

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)
6/10
Quite weak show, quite boring and convoluted.
3 May 2022
This show is completely forgettable. Does not have any fiber of good writing in it. Probably they thought that if they threw in Picard and some old-time star trek names/images, then it would work. It doesn't. You have to force yourself to watch it, and only if you are a Star Trek fan. It is quite a drag. After watching a few episodes, I still don't know what they were doing exactly. Some artificial characters, Picard who is very old and frail, some action that nowadays is lame, and some ships (these are nice). That's it. No big ideas, no atmosphere, no strong new stuff. Quite disappointing.. I guess the 7.4 rating on imdb is from ST fans nostalgic for Next Generation episodes.

Bad movie, poor jokes, waste of time
1 August 2018
This movie is a waste of time and money. Very poor and simplistic jokes, with feces being thrown away (is this funny??!!!!), midgets, and fat women. No ideas, poor car chases (especially compared with the fast and furious)... Bad actors, bad screenplay, bad filming, stereotypical parts, just a crap..
