Not that true a story
7 January 2022
I felt "betrayed" when I realized almost everything in the narrative is fictionalized.

They should have done that disclaimer, just so one wouldn't be mislead and disappointed.

The film is great though.

Emotional hook
27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie hooked my heart. I was on the headge the whole time, and I felt a million emotions. I laughed at one moment, I was worried about our future at the next, I felt shame and guilt for us as humans... I've read some reviews that pointed that it should be more absurd so it could be a tragic-comedy, but I don't agree: The McKay's The big short style was enough for me.

Nevertheless, I believe this movie can't develop into a classic (I mean, I really really hope that!), because its all premise is kind of "state of the art": a Trump-like president (a non-maternal Meryl Streep in a cap was so incisive!) whose attitudes affect the whole world); a doom-like vibe (as we live now with covid and climate change); the conspiracy theories around freedmon etc who reminds us the no-mask etc movements; the ATI-science attitudes that tackles the anti-vaxxers... This movie is made to be watched nowadays.

I mean, let's hope it ages badly.

Good topic, poor documentary
17 November 2021
I'm a binge-watcher kind of Pearson but it took me three days to finish this film. The narrative felt lost and even boring sometimes. The message was not clear: It addressed different types of minimalism without clarifying the differences, it felt sometimes biased or with an agenda (let's sell some books), it jumped from topic to topic (minimalism, nomad life, individual VS governmental actions, isolation...) and it felt confusing many times. Also, getting rid of things is not necessarily how one stop consuming, as it was assumed at one point. Minimalism is an interesting topic, I felt sorry about the way it was exposed.

Inspiring
13 October 2021
The story is compelling and it punches you in the stomach more often than not. It exposes how the system is flaud at the same time that it appraises resilience. It's about survival. It's about love. It's about making poor decisions and start over ready to fight back. It's about empowerment, suffering, mental health issues. All of this with a slight nuance of "Room". It's so rich, it's a must watch.

Good cast, not much else
13 October 2021
It's predictable and it fails to make us laugh, except for one or two scenes. The acting was great though, as predictable by the cast that was chosen. It's a classic rom com but not that funny.

We can all use a little bit of this show right now
12 June 2021
I feel that I was needing this show. Although the environment is familiar with the one we're living on (a world pandemic), this show warms our hearts with friendship, innocence and hope. The story is binge worthy at the same time you always get the feeling that everything is gonna be okay. And that's so refreshing. I was very surprised with how good the show is.

Rated after Season 1. Hoping S2 keeps up!

Good effort on addressing mental health
1 March 2021
The premise is good and I love that movies and TV shows are trying to contribute to reduce the stigma around psychiatric/psychological disorders. But, as a whole movie, it's not that great. Particularly when compared with another Netflix recent spanish movie about mental issues, toc toc. I'm willing to watch further similar content though.

Ricky Gervais must be a fricking genius. I want to be a better person after this show. One of the best shows I've ever watched.

Explicit images of sex with dead people

We don't need that explicit a content to understand the message. We did need a better production to understand the message though.

It's about so much and yet nothing at all + plot holes
2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I watch all the episodes of season 1. I love post-apocalyptic shows and, with the religious theme, the premise was great. It had everything to be awesome. But the storyline got messy. It's a show about everything and yet nothing. Is it about the human condition? Humans VS IA? The dangers of religion? Parenthood? Survival? A forbidden love? A chosen one? A crazy guy? Non-human reproduction? A... flying monster-snake?!?!?!? After 10 episodes I still don't know what the point of the show is. But the worst is that there are so many plot holes it's disappointing. One should expect things to make sense (inside the scenario that is imagined, of course) from a sci-fi story. Good effects, lead acting and some scenes though. Not hanging for season 2, unfortunately.

Ok, way better than the last couple of episodes
29 September 2020
Still, it feels like one final episode won't be able to fill all the blanks there are left. (And one of the show's greatest strengths used to be the way it could connect all the dots... Like it did in "Anaconda"). Unfortunately, I believe one last episode is too short a period of time to give us all the answers we want. Let's see.. ). I still have hope for a great finale though. Fingers crossed! We all deserve it!

Normal People (2020)

Unpretentious, deliberatedly imperfect
25 September 2020
That's what makes it so raw and beautiful. Particularly the sex scenes: there's no extra make up, orange lights, sexy or romantic soundtrack... There's just a normal boy and a normal girl making normal love - and it's so relatable and beautiful. Everything is very well put together (filming, acting, sound..). I can relate to the falks who are frustrated with their lack of communication skills - I caught myself saying to the screen "please go to couples therapy". But their relationship's imperfections end up being inspiring, as human as they can be. You feel totally immersed. Beautiful art.

So many details, so well explained.. An episode with head and heart on maximum. Let's hope the finale is as smart and well done as this episode was!

Warning: Spoilers
I was trying hard to force me into liking this season. But it has been messy and abrupt and sometimes just unplausable or unreasonable. Bellamy's fake death and absence were bad enough. But his ending, with no redemption whatsoever in a show about survival, redemption and togetherness is unbearable. I was so happy and eager with this final season... I loved the 100 so much. I cannot express how disappointed I am.

Such a beautiful movie!
22 February 2020
This movie is not about homosexuality. Most of the times you don't even remember they're gay (or bi or whatever). It's about love, pain, loss, growth, people like you and me. It's a love story, beautifully put.

The movie is perfectly filmed. I felt like I was reading a book (I've never read the original) in the sense that I could "hear" the narrative just through the image, even when they're no dialog or even action whatsoever.

The movie transports you into the charecters' feelings and you feel what they feel. The performances are great and the emotional and sexual chemistry is palpable.

Truly recommend.

Dumb

The premise was good, but everything else wasn't. It has enough suspense to binge, but everything seems forced and non credible.

Is this scene real? Is this not? When can I enjoy a truthful scene?
2 February 2020
Great script, performances, and plot. It's interesting how a movie basically based on a dialogue gets so interesting. I'm agnostic, but it filled my heart the way that both these men mean well. It's also interesting to enter such a secret place as the Vatican. However, I feel that more work/research/investigation should be done in order to picture the story accurately. I would had lived the movie if it wasn't for the fact that I was always suspicious about it.
