Locke & Key (2020)
From Locke to No Key
This has/had so much promise but delves into nonsensical idiocy from the daughter and her youngest brother making a somewhat enjoyable series into something barely watchable. Add to that the worst cast antagonist in S2 and Geezus...
The magic is very cool, though, and the plot has merit. Better writing (and some acting) and this is a solid show. Otherwise, watch it while doing the laundry!
Theodosia (2022)
So, you want an escapist adventure...
It's a likable show! Besides the forced drama (usually by the brother being a complete moron) and the terrible acting (also, by the brother), oh, and the fact every adult says the same thing - "Theo, what an active imagination" - it's a cool KIDS show with a fantastic premise. Easy to watch and somehow makes you want to see it through to its conclusion.
The White Lotus (2021)
No no no!!!
Easily the most horrible collection of characters ever! Do not waste your time.
Only (2019)
Ughhhhhh....
How this was top 10 on any platform, I don't know. It's the only reason I watched. And while the premise had so much promise, Freida Pinto's character (mostly - I mean she purposely infects herself and is joyed by it) and her acting are horrid! Leslie Odom, to a degree, saves this from being a full on 💩!
You'll want to finish because the story has promise and you'll have the urge to see how it ends - spoiler, it just stops! So, feel free to find another way to spend an hour and a half. This movie will leave you wondering why it was ever green lit with this script!
The Letter for the King (2020)
Another Netflix flop
Decently entertaining other than the whiny incompetent main protagonist - Geezus, he's a terrible character in this show. From the first whistle he's unlikable.
But the real travesty (the reason it's only 5 stars in my view) is because, much like every original Netflix show, they insist on filming it with no frackin' light! Half of this show is so dark that you CAN NOT discern what action is happening. It's beyond frustrating and honestly I am sick of straining my eyes to be entertained.
One day their learn to make a good show without trying to set a mood by eliminating visuals. 🙄🙄
Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
ugh...
The main actors are awful in this show. Such a good show with a very bad performance in the seasons final episode.
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt (2019)
Strangest Thing is one casting!
10 out of 10, but Wynona is a pathetically horrible actress! Unwatchable! The standard set forth by the kids THANKFUL masks her emotional ineptness.
If you're a child of the 80's, this show is the best on TV. It has everything you could want.
Ozark (2017)
Oh oh Ozark
Great show. Some fantastic acting. Pacing is a little slow but not boring. Keeps you locked in with an engaging storyline.
Only issue... the ENTIRE show is filmed with the lights off! It's so dark... you're basically just listening to this whole show.
12 Monkeys: Demons (2018)
Really good, but....
The "witness" is a clown! Her bad (and predictable) acting ruins many episodes but this one scene in this episode is just awful.
Deacon on the other hand, I love. So sad to see him go!
Lost in Space (2018)
Lost and a little found
Mina's Character is awful. Only distanced in her absurdity by "Dr. Smith," who seems to not have a plot line that doesn't involve subterfuge and deceit. It's fairly annoying watching everyone's oblivious handling of their idiocy.
That being said, I otherwise really enjoy this show. The science is hokey, but so was the original. If you can suspend your disbelief (as in all sci-fi shows) you're sure to enjoy the cinematography at the very least and possibly get lost in the saga that is the Robinson's adventure.
