Serenity (2005)

Superb movie for the fans and others!
1 October 2005
Saw the new "Serenity" movie last night (opening day) and just loved it! Joss Whedon expands the "Firefly" universe and characters greatly in the span of a two hour movie. The movie has it all: action, humor, suspense, sadness, hope, --- it's a roller-coaster ride of scenes and emotional images. Fans of the 14 episode TV series will love this movie greatly. Even those not familiar with the "Verse" of Firefly will enjoy this high energy Sci-Fi romp. The movie also has a very well drawn bad guy that isn't your typical cardboard villain. Take anyone you know that likes adventure and fighting for a worthy cause to see this movie. You won't be disappointed. :)

Layer Cake (2004)

Excellent and involving!

This movie was terrific. From start to finish it keeps you involved in the ever shifting and deepening plot. Daniel Craig is terrific and from this I can see why he might just be the next next James Bond. He has that same cool under pressure. Plus he just looks like a secret agent, even if he doesn't play that type of role here. The supporting cast was great as well. Keep in mind this movie requires you to pay attention and follow all the moving parts and players. It keeps you guessing from the start to the end. Any fan of detailed plots with bad guys trying to "do the right thing" will enjoy this film a lot. The scenery was fun to see as well. You never know exactly where it's all taking place. It has a nice European flair to it. And the music is a mix of various songs that really suit the mood of the scenes. Now I have to go watch it again and pick up the little things I missed the first time.

Terrific romantic movie!
1 August 2005
As others, I saw this movie quite some time ago. I do still have a copy on video but would love to see it on DVD again. It's basically the story of boy meets girl with a computer that gets in the way. Keep in mind there really were not PC's back when this was made. So the computer Miles gets is pretty crude by today's standards. But that doesn't stop it from having a personality all it's own. The voice of the computer is very well done. The two lead actors are great as well. They seem to really have wonderful chemistry together. Virginia Madsen just glows in this movie and shows she was due for the stardom she has now achieved. Von Dolen is also good and I wish I could see him in more projects. I highly recommend this film to anyone that likes a nice sweet romantic movie!

Remington Steele (1982–1987)
Great series.....
31 July 2005
Way back when TV shows actually told good mysteries and didn't just show "reality" we had a little gem called "Remington Steele." Starring Pierce Brosnan (pre-Bond) and Stephanie Zimbalist the show revolved around a detective agency. The twist was "Remington Steele" was a made up character in the show. Laura Holt (Zimbalist's role) invented him because a name like that on the door brought in the business. Of course when Brosnan shows up and sort of "becomes" Remington things get very interesting. The first season really has some great shows in it and the chemistry between the leads is wonderful. I highly recommend the show to all mystery and detective fans who like shows that make you think a little - and are fun too!

Love for Rent (1979 TV Movie)

Fun movie

This little movie was pretty cool for the time. Story was so-so but Annette O'Toole looks really hot in it. Basically she has to "sell herself" to make some money. Kind of a typical movie of the week type plot, but had some depth to it. She also tries to get another girl into the same "job" she is doing. It's hard to recall all the details because I saw this quite sometime ago. I was thinking about it the other day since I really like Annette on "Smallville" and in some of the other films she has done. She went through a phase of doing these TV movies during that time I think. Wish it would come out on video or DVD now. Check it out sometime.
