Kamen Rider Hibiki (2005–2006)
9/10
Unique, but not for Kamen Rider otaku
16 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, I have to say this. Masked Rider Hibiki is a VERY unique Japanese superhero show. Each episode follows a rhythm and events are played like the parts of a song, each part separated by a short flash of kanji. And the battles, they too break regular Japanese superhero convention, as they are well choreographed, instead of the usual tossing around of our heroes for awhile until their one hit kill of the enemy.

If you do a search of the show elsewhere, you will learn that the story is pretty basic, Takeshi, a covert organization, sends its demon agents to fight monsters that threaten humanity around Japan. However the true story is one of growth, as the main character, Asumu, learns what life is about and how to be a man.

Some Kamen Rider fans hate this show because it's different. As transformation poses, and the profilic "RIDER KICK!" are omitted. But non fans should find Hibiki a nice change of pace from the usual television program.
