Line of Duty (2019)
Absolutely awful. Avoid.
Was surprised at just how terrible this film is.
For films that I don't know anything about I don't have any expectations yet I still feel cheated.
If you do end up reading this and still watch the film you'll definitely think "should have listened".
Day Shift (2022)
A comedy with bite.
Was very pleasantly surprised by this. And that came within the first few minutes and then carries on.
It's everything you want from a comedy horror with the bonus of having great fight scenes.
Prey (2022)
The terrible Predator films continue.
This is bad. Think more AvP and the last Predator film in terms of quality.
It doesn't come close to Predators, never mind the 2nd or the original and best.
The best thing is the Yautja and his tech. The actual story is decent enough it's just let down by how it eventually plays out.
Last Seen Alive (2022)
Curb your enthusiasm.
This film seems to be pretty much to have been ad libbed like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Although no where near the same quality. Really does seem like they had a basic outline for sense and then just started talking.
Feels very rushed.
If you've seen the quick trailer on Sky you know what you're getting. Although Breakdown (1997) this is not.
Gold (2022)
It's just an enjoyable film.
Didn't go into this with any expectations. It was just something to watch. A very solid film which is surprising considering very little happens. There's not a lot of dialogue either. Yet it really is a good film.
The Hunt (2020)
Tucker and Dale vs Satire
If you've watched Tucker and Dale vs Evil and enjoyed it this is more of the same albeit with liberal amounts of satire thrown in. Funny, gory and clever. Although not too clever.
Solid 8.
Boss Level (2020)
Worth your time. Fun, guns and violence.
Was pleasantly surprised just how good this film was after going in pretty much blind. Just read the synopsis.
Honestly it's scene after scene of just daftness but do really well. Guns galore. Brilliant fight scenes and humour.
Great White (2021)
Awful.
Loved The Reef. Jaws is a classic. Deep Blue Sea was at least entertaining. 47 Metres Down had its moments. The Meg as funny. This is absolute garbage. In fact it's worse as garbage can actually be useful.
Breach (2020)
Terrible no matter.
I gave it a go but it really is that bad. I'm trying to think of films that are on par and struggling. I'm starting to doubt why I give it 3 now. Terrible.
Black Water (2007)
Transformers is more realistic.
If you want a realistic creature feature watch The Reef. If you like the idea of a croc taking centre stage but want more realism than Lake Placid watch Rogue. I've seen big block buster science fiction films convey more realism than Black Water. Which is a massive shame as with some tweaks it could have been good.
Serenity (2019)
Fantastic. Different. Engaging.
Really not sure why after watching this I'm seeing bad reviews. For me it was brilliant. Really, really enjoyed it. Great acting throughout and a story that pulled you in.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
Beautiful.
Absolutely phenomenonal film. So, so good. Not a 10 because it was so good I wanted each story to be longer. So an oxymoron score somewhat. Not sure why anyone wouldn't like this.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Good but could have been so much more.
First off it's a decent film. But, I think this would have made a phenomenal TV series. It needed 8 hours. It's not often I champion a film to be drawn out but if this had it would have become a classic.
Calibre (2018)
Fantastic surprise.
Put simply this is a great film. Went in completely blind and was rewarded with an old formula done really well.
It ISN'T just another "you don't belong round these parts" film though.
Do yourself a favour and watch it.
Double Date (2017)
A bloody good film.
What a gem this is. I'd admittedly never heard of it before I watched it. It's an absolute riot. So, so funny with a tadicum of gore thrown in now and then.
The cast is brilliant. The action is on point. And it runs along at a good old pace. I finished it and wouldn't have minded it being fleshed out a little more so I could have enjoyed it longer.
It Comes at Night (2017)
Different. In a good way.
First time ever I've felt compelled to add a film review.
Can't understand the negative reviews. All I can surmise is that they wanted World War Z special effects or similar.
This film is bare bones. It's raw. Raw in a sense that it doesn't try to be something it's not.
It's a very enjoyable film that 100% doesn't deserve the absolutely awful reviews.
