Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
Great series except for.. Miss Poker face
To have this good quality stuffed in almost all aspects of this series but in one of main characters is disappointing. Shreya dhanwhatever is the bad apple for this series. You must have great actor playing this role because there's not much talent stuffed in this character. All this character has is integrity to not reveal sources PERIOD. It is otherwise a childish character. Let's say she is like female version of Harshad Mehta who doesn't harm average person(she'd be willing to harm rich person without being sure about the crime).
When we have Pratik to pull off shady character easily, Shreya on the other hand feels like she has facial paralysis. Only reason she qualified to take up the role seems like she's good at smoking. It is actor's job to make easy for the viewer to know what's going on in the scene, with their acting. But here it seems like she's playing game with viewers. Poker face in every scene is not what any real person in real life expresses.
It is even more amazing that the character who partners Sucheta has less significance but the actor playing that character steals every scene he's in with that Shreya, not because she's bad or not because he overacts but because he sells that acting perfectly. I hope just because he didn't land great role in this series, he doesn't fade away from acting world.
But Shreya, must definitely get only robot or zombie roles in future. Please don't trouble audience by casting her in these types of roles.
Chhichhore (2019)
Unoriginal film which has lot of glitter and lot less gold
I felt 3 idiots was formulaic. For me, it was like a grand character was designed and then friends were added to show the colors of the character. Thanks to this film, I still feel that 3 idiots as formulaic but the characters(even friends) were developed realistically. Those characters made me laugh, feel sad, made me relate to them in some scenes. If you want the short and clear version of comparison of these both films, here it is, 3 idiots=backbenchers, chichhore=frontbenchers. Watching this film felt like watching Steve carell in the office series(tries hard to be loved by everyone, funniest guy which never works because he is frontbencherish). I feel like I purchased a 1000wala crackers, lit the fuse, waited 5 minutes for the action, with no sound or light showing up till that 5 minutes, went to check what happened and then noticed that every thread of each cracker got lit completely. Was very sure that the film would be awesome since I kept in mind dangal and the actor naveen. I have no idea why the overall rating in imdb is above 8 and 88% in bookmyshow.
Raising Hope (2010)
Shannon Woodward wrecked it
the show is good(not brilliant). most of the characters are good. Shannon Woodward or her character was useless. She is like a fake third wheel and this show frequently tries to use that wheel to move itself. the character is badly written the actor is no gem. She makes the character more blunt with her very limited style of acting(exact opposite of J. K. Simmons acting) this show does not need her. She's like a bad commercial break. you just forward the flow of episode till she disappears from the screen. no thanks to this idiot, I stopped watching this show after s1e21. don't waste your time watching this show. instead watch My Name is Earl ,Modern Family, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or The Middle
The Girlfriend Experience (2016)
i'm halfway through and it still gets nowhere
Sure there are few twists which elevate the series(temporarily) but in the next episode, there's no influence or follow up of that twist. Most of the scenes which are designed to thrill us end up as dud(I mean ,if you see a scared expression over a character's face and about a minute of the character trying to search for something). Mostly nothing thrilling happens. What you know (the basic plot) is what happens in every episode except you'll be teased that routine will not happen and it will be something new.
I feel that even a soap opera has something new to offer in every episode compared to this. Full of loose ends(about 3 by 8 episodes) (which if followed would make this series thrilling one), and by loose ends I mean twists which are never respected, twists which are ignored. If you ever saw an episode of breaking bad or oz or prison break you would know how each episode must be. If you find this series interesting, no matter how good you are at writing, don't try to write anything, ever.
The Office (2005)
Really awkward situations is the humor here...
Did you ever try to have a friendly conversation with a person, who you consider a friend, and end up breaking your heart as this person replies you "buddy! no offense. But we are not that much of friends" and also other people who overheard this conversation laugh at you like hell?
Did you ever try to sing a song really loud with all your heart just because you notice that you are alone and end feeling bad about singing because few people overheard you singing and laughed at you?
If you have had such similar situation, this show will make you the person who watches such situations between people in this show. But it's really up to you whether to laugh or feel pity and feel bad.
This show is about 70% of such situations. The rest is genuine comedy and drama
House of Lies (2012)
its like veep(fast) but only some of it is in English rest is in management
i don't get most of the jokes because of their language (or is that accent?). A very sophisticated way of trying to humor audience. The very profession of the protagonist is a mystery to me. I really really don't get the meaning of the words managing consulting. If those words are tough to understand for you this show goes way deeper into those words But if you are intelligent enough to understand those words you'll enjoy it a lot. Still I am basing this review on only 2 episodes of season 1. I don't know if its easy to understand after 2 episodes. And also even if you don't get those words you'll still have about half of the episode which is in English.
Tamasha (2015)
I really don't know how anyone could go past 30min of this film
Right from the beginning this one tested my patience. the only reason I am rating this film 5 is I do not know what lies beyond first 30min and I really don't want to risk another minute of my life watching more than this. Normally I'd watch every film in full screen, but this film came as an exception. I was more interested in watching time tool bar than the rest of the screen. And whenever I tried to overcome my negativity towards the scenes and watch next scenes with neutral mind, I was almost disappointed to death. Thanx to AR rahman's background tunes I am still alive. Still even AR rahman pulled a "TAMASHA" in the matargasthi song. what started as mediocre, turned into above average song and eventually began spreading the TAMASHA flavor(last 2 min).
The reason I am discouraging this film to this extent is firstly the screenplay. Past few films its easy to notice that the director is weak at delivering humor, still its not what bothers me. Scenes(screen writing) were absolutely routine. Nothing grabs your interest. Adding to the badness to scenes were ridiculousness of the scenes.{how long can anyone who is in 20s or 30s pretend to be Don(bollywood) for minutes and enjoy it. It turns worse when deepika tries to be someone else and she too enjoys it. Its not as if they are trying to go for don like adventures, they just talk in that way) I really don't know the plot(as i said earlier I can never accomplish that feet. the reason for five stars. its my fault that i did not watch whole film) so I don't want to go there. Now comes the acting. Since forever (except APKGK) ranbir acts like sherlock holmes(smartass and mynameiskhanish acting, not at all flexible. I think he is the exact opposite of nawazuddin siddique) and here he repeats that again
New Girl (2011)
everything real, natural and nothing new(in one word BORING)
best in comedies arrested development, Its always sunny..., veep, south park, archer
compared to these shows how far does this show go? not even halfway. there are punch lines, the cast's acting which can make you giggle for a few times in a whole episode. story wise in an episode, its a wonder if it makes you laugh in more than 3 scenes. I mean for such plots any person can be a writer. Its only for people who have low sense of humor.
lets check in dramatized comedy genre: scrubs, shameless(uk), simpsons
no episode which makes this show worthy enough to be placed along with the above mentioned shows
All i am saying is whatever genre it comes under, it does not deserve more than 5 stars because of its lack of innovation in comedy, plot. Its like watching BIG BOSS(everything real, natural and nothing new)
Naruto (2002)
it feels like they are forced to come up with something after 130 episodes
If the anime ended at 130 episode, I'd have given 9/10. But no it didn't. Instead it made me watch crappy unnecessary episodes without warning me(I was watching it to know the movement of story)
Until about 130 or 140 episodes, the anime's almost every episode makes you remember every minute of it(flashbacks are repeated to an extent that you'll definitely skip few episodes in the middle)
And then comes the torture! No new character worth remembering is introduced. No interesting saga is created(same old stories with lame new characters like old wine in new bottle), even humor seems childish.
In short, Naruto anime which you felt refreshing, innovative, interesting, cute from start, turns into tom and jerry episodes(latest ones 2000s creations) from episode 130(or when sasuke flees away from village)
