Perry Mason: The Case of the Larcenous Lady (1960)
Worth watching
This good mystery with an outstanding cast has a scene in court where Mr Burr's voice sounds edited in in poorly -listen closely. This episode was filmed with a production bread due to his illness-a possible explanation! This episode's bump is worth sticking around if you are a Della-Perry fan.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Weary Watchdog (1962)
Della and Perry at their Best
This episode was a first to really showcase Barbara Hale's acting abilities. While I disliked the premise of smart Della making such of a ridiculous request from Perry. Certainly she had an inkling that even though her friend was involved she not only was getting herself into something but she was indirectly pulling in Perry. Della was savvy in the office when it came to legal issues to some extent she was almost a paralegal. Della seemed out of character but it made for an excellent premise and while I think there should have been more Perry-Della scenes. This episode enough about how he thought of Della.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Drowsy Mosquito (1963)
Season 7 Winner
Season 7 started out on an upswing for Perry Mason. While there were several episodes that did not measure up later TCOT Drowsy Mosquito an ESG novel had a lot going for it . It took Perry and Della to the desert A great cast with some action that was not seen in LA-Perry actually broke in a door, drove a Jeep and lifted Della from it and went mining for gold. Crusty Mt. Grant kept this episode interesting. Perry being out of his comfort zone kept him from being and looking bored . A fun episode for me!
Perry Mason: The Case of the Carefree Coronary (1965)
Unique episode
This was a unique episode as it was delving into the health/ insurance business and a practicing fraudulent medical professional. I liked the episode because it allows series regulars-Paul and Della to have key roles and not just be in the background supporting Perry. Being a Perry/Della fan, I loved their embrace (the only time in the series),even though it was for a sad reason. I still think Della was not used to her full capacity throughout the series-Raymond and Barbara had such great chemistry when they worked together.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Woeful Widower (1964)
TCOT Missimg Street
This episode is a re do of ESG's Case of the Fiery Fingers and a poor one it is. Confusing, excess characters, a plot that as a slight semblance to the original and even Perry lacks any real interest in the plot and plight of the characters. lThe missing ingredient was the beautiful Barbara Hale. According to the Perry Mason Case Book her absence was due to unexpected surgery thus missing 4 episodes. As small as her part it was a vital one without it the 4 episodes definitely seem lacking. She brought out the best in Raymond Burr.when she is not around it shows.
