A Vigilante (2018)

Flat & Single Note & Random
7 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is not the first film nor will it be the last like it. The premise is "there" at the beginning. After which I was surprised at the frequency of scene cuts without full resolution of contextual detail nor any kind of visual effects to help the storyline. Is it a slow story ????

No not at all; however the rapid pace scene jumps throughout every minute of filming leaves me (an audience member) feeling jolted & disjointed.

Also revenge and vengeance equaling death by purposeful murder..... is not something many victims would purposefully wish or even think about doing; because of all the other aspects of life living life to the fullest extent possible AFTER escaping from violent situations, Is the only way to have True Revenge.

Being a Vic myself means that this is strictly MY OWN OPINION based on My Own Story & Life Experiences of Traumas.

I can say that this story really really needed another writers Perspective to be accounted for in this endeavor for the sake of a plot that creates a sense of continuity for the sake of its audience members.

Also her committing murder to become financially independent is a crime regardless of what films like this attempt to portray and justify the crime with.

The Invisible Man (I) (2020)
2/10
Wowwwwwwwww
28 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This film is about a lady . A female victim. Who is forced to be declared "insane" because she is voicing her own reality. The abuser is a man who becomes Invisible to all. He commits abuse, rape, and murder as such. The End.

I'd rather watching the film Enough instead of this nonsense writing about pure fluff material. Bottom line, strictly taking this at face superficial dribble..... The victim is insane and her genius chaotic abuser psychotic boyfriend is more insane than she is. This writing is singular note and flat and tone deaf and very much reliant on younger audiences need to be startled, jumpy, monstery, science fiction meets real life domestic violence drama-ish?

The lady does her job as an actress who understands her craft well.

This is not really interesting to watch unless you like watching the actress practice her craftsmanship as a stage performer on screen.

This Episode Is Asking A Lot....
27 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very old.

When It aired I was only 5 years old.

Any way, this episode was a odd mash-up of content that seemed to be asking too much, too much of the writing, too much of the actual actors , too much of the audience's brain. A Suicide Cult/A MPD De-Railment/Past-Life/Transcendent Souls In Love All Throttled together in one Too Short Too Fast Paced 20 Minutes? The audience doesn't even understand what the ideas inside the episode is; much less the original story aspects.

I'd love to see this episode re-done with all the updated details on several areas. I like the elements they chose but I feel like the plot could have been dealt with differently in an effort to help the story overall.

Birds of Prey Love
23 February 2024
This movie is short but the characters get to shine as the actors craft them according to their individual personalities and their own spin of interpretations. It's about women comic characters who are more than capable and featuring them like their comic male "counterparts" (sticking up for each other but without an alliance unless they have to) Harley Quinn unpredictably persona is Iconic Because it Contradicts All Female Stereotypes as men perceive women to be. It's a man's world but all women give birth to All people's . So it's a quirky fun violent movie that lets women be themselves and it's not all pin-up Hollywood starlets and glamorous "conventionally pretty" girl syndrome. Ewan M is a wonderful actor to see play a role totally different from what he has done and it's refreshing to see it in my opinion. I really enjoyed this goofy movie for what it was.

For All Those Nay-Sayers, Get Over It
10 January 2024
This movie isn't about "being awesome" or "fantastic" or "epic".

It's a really good story telling experience and because of that..... it is a good watch. Not all movies must satisfy the mobs need to have instant gratification.

Telling a multi-cultural story with numerous characters (simply is Not done) anymore, this story is based loosely ON REAL EVENTS from the history of the Silk Road.

Please don't tell others this movie sucked if you didn't care for the story; movies are stories.

Not all of us all view things the same way okay.

I enjoy movies, the history of movie making, and what "makes a great movie" is the writing/the plot line/the story work/ and those actors willing to participate in the process of telling it as well as hundreds and hundreds of crew members behind the scenes.

This movie has held my interest as it unfolds. First time seeing it. And I would watch it again.

Not all of us demand "Top Quality Content" 100% of the time. But to each there own etc etc.

I really enjoyed this movie! Wish there were More like it!

Godzilla (I) (1998)

In 98' People Took This Film Way Too Seriously
22 October 2023
There once was a Godzilla story...... From a Long Time Ago - NOW (2023) And None Of Them EVER Ever Have Delivered To It's Audience A Whole Lotta Epic Seriousness. I was 8 years old when this American Zilla Film (1998) was Released. I have Watched the Originals With Subtitles & Black and White and None of those movies have ever been shown with Serious Monuments of Hardcore plot lines.... When the Originals Clearly portray All Monsters there-in Dancing Jigs and Communicating with each other about how stupid people are, including the Singing Mothara Twins.

This being said ...... In my opinion, as I watch this Film again after seeing it Several times since it's release date..... Ya'll Forget how comical the originals were and it was done on purpose.

Why would the American film be so naive to overlook this kind of detailed work from older films from overseas. Keep in mind it's art not exacted science this business of creating entertainment.

I Personally LOVE this version of Godzilla and With how popular the Godzilla: Series was as the film's follow-up.

I think it be Amazing to Now Create A New Godzilla Film series that Recreates Those Shorts since they were praised so much After the fact of the series ending.

The Emphasis Of Misplacement
1 October 2023
I just finished watching this 2.5 hour long movie.

The CG and acting was AMAZING All the actors were so good at working their craftsmanship out put of their specific roles dictated.

The film was Too Long However in my Opinion.

The Character I Readily and Immediately Found Deep Empathy For would be the character Pedro Pascal plays So So So Flawlessly! Maxwell Lord, as a character is Truly Not The Villain.

There Are No Villains Here in this story telling.

Like it or not Audiences.... This Is Truth.

I Empathized With Pedro Pascal's portrayal of Maxwell Lord because He Managed To Portray His Best Acting Chops of Talent! How?

Pedro Manages To Convince Us (the spectators) that His Character Truly Wants To "Help" the world by granting all wishes to All Who Wish For More because of the Daily Beast of Suppression Experienced By All People In All Ways.

No Control Just Continuous Silent Oppressions In All Manner of Things.

The Maxwell Lord character Believes He Is Doing Right By His Son By Giving Him A World Without Any Suppressive Treatments or Circumstances Once The Granted Wishes Become Reality; Only To Discover His Ultimate Truth Of Emphasized Misplaced Beliefs.

Chaos, Destruction, Armageddon Annihilation Ensues Contaminating An Already Foolish Selfish Greedy Plundered Human-Kind.

Being "Flashed" into Maxwell's Young Childhood Family Abuse Right At the end of this Super Long Story; actively Ruined the Depth of Pedro's Beautifully Crafted Outstanding Performance as Maxwell Lord. As the Spector I was Hoping for more time exploring the Deep Generational Family Traumas forced onto Children without much thought.

Given my own personal experiences as a child; I felt really astonished that the writers didn't developed Pedro's character story Sooner in the film to be kind to the audience and the Actor's portrayal of the character.

Children who experience Daily trauma inflicted upon them by their parents abusive reckless marital behaviors; Utilized Within the Last Moments of this Film Described In These Mild Underdeveloped UnderWhelming 3-4 Flashbacks; Is Pathetic and Unable To Do Pedro's Acting Any Justice. His acting is Worthy Of An Award for this film.

The momentary character flashbacks are flat and dull; used like "jump and startle scare film tactics" in order to get a response from the audience.

Not cool filmmakers not cool.

Pedro Pescal this role was crafted and played by you so Well. Thank you for your time and efforts In understanding your role portrayal are appreciated.

Catwoman (2004)

It was Cute
18 September 2023
This movie is all centered around the actress's "beauty" at that stage of glorifying female actresses "Hottness" because it could be done. Acting reputation and skill all set aside.

Anyways...... I think 20 years is LONG ENOUGH; This Title, Plot, and Story NEED A REAL Reboot!

Like all the other titles being re-thunk and re-scripted.

The Catwoman character Deserves Better.

Has anyone ever dug into the characters of this "supernatural superhero ?" Let's give this another shot please 🙏 Super Woman has gotten remade and reactivated Numerous Times, Not to mention many other female comic characters.

Please Remake This.

Watch This At Face Value
7 August 2023
This is a funny film and worth watching for the goofy theme and action packed cheesy acting.

Take this at face value and just have fun with the overacting and the single themed sets.

It's a goofy spoof just enjoy the silly nature and pop some popcorn 🍿 and have a funny laugh with friends and family who understand that not all films MUST BE Perfect Masterpieces of Cinema.

Introducing kids to goofy spoofs is a great idea as well. Not every movie has to be absolutely perfect plot and best actors in order to be successful or entertaining to an audience who understands how to watch comedy plots.

This Was Fun
11 March 2022
3-11-2022: So far this film has 65 reviews not counting mine.

So less then 100 reviews, and a bunch of people did not like ot for the story, production quality, writing, director or whatever..... If you pay attention to the movie outside of the things people decide to dislike; This film does a wonderful job of writing an underlying purposeful proposal which is: Time Travel is developed realistically, For Realistic Ideas, Realistic Purposes. Outside of strictly discovering wormholes to transport people/things. Outside of watching a "time travel film from 30 years ago" which kept trying to say Time Travel will automatically be used for unrealistic endeavors by the human beings.

Ultimately Humans Rip Each Other Apart Once The Reality of Time Travel is within grasp: Which Is Also An Open Nod To How People Do Work In This Life!

I guess perspective is everything. So if all you want as a consumer/audience of this movie, is to demand a perfectly written, directed, acted, worded story for only entertainment value (which there is no such thing in any form of story telling anyway) : Go Right Ahead and only see the small window.

The bigger framed picture: for those who took the film and face value then noticed it too; this story is looking at time travel as a realistic way for people to come together and rebuild together.

In theory one day we all may just have the selflessness to actively value the nuances in story telling.

Descendants: The Royal Wedding (2021 TV Special)

Literally In Middle Of Watching This
23 September 2021
After watching all the live action films and enjoying the plots in general.

This wedding day theme animation quality is worse than Kim possible or even phineas and Ferb.

The actors are playing their roles.

The colors are bright and vibrant.

As a stand alone "finale" to the two main characters I honestly feel like Disney fell flat deliberately depriving the audience of a semi-decent animation design ( AT A MINIMUM ). This is NOT CRITICAL it is a constructive way to phrase my opinions about this "wedding day between Mel and Ben".

Even Last Airbender tv series had more forethought into the animation process.

This 22 min wedding day follow up lacks quality consistency to put it plain and simple.

It is simple it is cute it is adorable follow up for the characters Mel and Ben.

I just wish it wasn't lacking in animation quality.

Friends (1994–2004)

Just finished watching whole series on Netflix
13 August 2018
I am such a fan of the Friends tv show. The characters are well developed independently and together they play off each other well. Some moments are cheesy while others are funny, while the rest is just very well acted and dialogued by the cast. At least give the first season episodes a go, if you still don't like it, don't watch it. But for those who enjoy a well developed multi character show..... Friends is sure to make you laugh and want to get to know each character more. Its a television show.... there are bound to be goofs or inconsistencies, no television show has ever ever in the history of tv been 200% perfect. I plan on buying the whole series on Blue-Ray soon to add to my dvds.

Ummmm What ?
21 March 2018
Literally just finished this film. It gets 2 stars due to, lets see, the acting from the key actors is well done.... to the best of their abilities within this epic lengthy jungle. The film makes zero sense, there are zero redeeming qualities about literally every single character in the film.... There was a beginning, a middle, and end. So sure, they wrote a film and had good actors in it. But the story had zero substance to it. I am NOT someone who has to have that magical "HAPPY ENDING".... but my gosh, a plot that makes sense with a really sad or scary or profound ending is a step up from how this thing trailed off into more NOTHINGNESS. I had a headache by the ending of it, because I was trying to figure out what the hell the story was even attempting at, ANYWHERE within the 2 hours it drags on. The ending was not satisfying at all, even if a person dies, at least that gives some semblance of closure to the storyline but nope. Not even that. Maybe this is one of those story's that is best left to it's novel format and not really great in it's re-write for filming. It just was one royal pointless headache cloying mash up of senselessness. The director clearly thought literally NOTHING of the audience or the potential impact it might have. The director clearly didn't care about those who would be watching this. I wish I could say that the "scenery" was worth the "watch".... but no it was not at all. Who cares if it's in Australia..... there are places in America that look identical to the landscape down under. Short cut always and helicopter pans are not really featured long enough or handled well in the post-production of this film. This truly was another disappointing film. I enjoy each individual "famous actors" and applaud them for going through the effort to sign on to this massive nut job of a storyline. Maybe that was the point of the film.... everyone was certifiably insane? Yes, No? *Shrugs*.

I Yearned To Enjoy This
6 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I just finished watching this at home June 6, 2017 as it came out on DVD to rent and/or sell today ..... and I am left with the same feelings ..... it could have been so much better IF ( a big if and in my opinion ) the two main lead characters had been chosen more carefully and had actually wanted to lead the story. Please keep in mind I am a fan of the 1991 version as that is also my birth year, but disregarding that version and taking this film all on its own; I was still perplexed in not a good way by the end of watching this a second time through ( my first had been in the theater ). Even so Belle's (Watson) voice was so crazy auto tuned it literally nearly ruined my concentration and honestly I found the Beast character to be flat as well; both seemed to be truly aiming to help us ( the audience ) understand that they came to do a stage play..... not a film that much was felt by myself. The supporting actors ( the live talking house hold objects ), ( Gaston and his side kick ), ( the towns people ) >ALL< projected and emoted So much more convincingly than the two main leads in this 2017 remake of the 1991 classic. They >ALL< appeared and carried themselves and their voices as if they came to do their jobs above and beyond what's on the manuscript. I admit there are additional scenes in this live-action remake that add nice story filler and contribute to the bulk of the storyline that simply was missing from the 1991 animated version...... but that DID NOT Salvage this film on the whole from this epic train wreck.

Truth be told IF I ignore these few and albeit startling obviously obnoxious glaring annoyances from the minute of the opening frame until the glitzy spaz of an ending...... I can admit it is somewhat a nostalgic feeling to see this live-action version but; IF Only ...... IF Only the lead two main leads had not been so utterly flat lined in how they delivered their individual performances and even together it seemed they had zero chemistry on each scene no matter the situation within the film.

I can personally swallow all the flashy displays of costumes and over dressed up sets, the CG was passable and it seemed they did try to make it glamorous and enchanting which it was, but what wrecked the ballroom scene for me was how pitiful and flat and plain the Belle dress was!!!!! I mean really it was plain and I could assume budget cuts? That yellow dress on Belle is a statement piece of the character and yet I was left with my mouth hanging open in utter dismay and bewildered astonishment upon seeing it for a second time; I was grotesquely underwhelmed. {Trying desperately not to compare it to the 1991 version but BUT)....... The 1991 yellow dress on Belle was just that a gorgeous gown and the character wore NO jewelry or many accessories...... the dress was the main event and even on a animated character it SHOWED CLEARLY! This 2017 version of that yellow gown left me sad and unimpressed to say the least.

Buttttttttttt ......... overall I wish Disney had tried much harder to put out a film worth watching ( and no I do not want a cookie cutter version of the 1991 version ) but I truly enjoyed Maleficent and Cinderella and Jungle Book ......... Why Oh Why is this Beauty & The Beast 2017 lacking? While remakes prior to it are seemingly more enjoyable and make clear that they attempted make it enjoyable for the audience no matter what changes were made etc etc the actors in those seemed to want to be there and absorb the character role and make it their own........ the two main leads in this did no such thing which only did more to reek havoc on the storyline rewrite.

Outcast (I) (2014)
8/10
Simple Entertaining Adventure Story
27 December 2016
I picked this movie after running circles on Netflix. I'm in the middle of watching it now. Had no clue it would be intertwining several culture and historical ventures. It is overall a fun film to watch, similar to watching OTHER films that co-mingle culture/historical fiction story lines to form a cohesive plot with approx 2-4 main characters. I watched it for the pure entertainment value and looked it up on IMDb while watching. Who cares about all the political correctness, we watch films to be entertained not to criticize and critique it to death. There ARE MANY MANY poorly thrown together films and THIS ONE by FAR is NOT as sloppily done as So many of these crazy negative reviews imply. I've watched worse B-Sci-Fi films that were put together compared to this Outcast movie. Anyone ever heard of an actor called Sean Bean?????? Yeah, that man has played in EVERYTHING!!!!!!! Major box office hits, to some crappy CG dragon science fiction films. He is a well rounded actor who ENJOYS playing many roles and does not HAVE TO BE IN A 10 out of 10 Box Office Hit film 24/7 365 days a year. Give me a freaking break people please. This film "Outcast" is worth the watch. If you can get past all your personal film hang ups where LITERALLY EVERYTHING HAS TO BE JUST SO PERFECT, and on point in the FINITE DETAILS. I am reviewing this film because I am enjoying the plot. I'm enjoying the acting and the actors. If Sean Bean can make both 10 out of 10 Box office hits than turn around and do a B Sci- Fi films.... BECAUSE HE CAN AND HE ENJOYS HIS WORK NO MATTER WHAT, does not have to be On Top in a major film that gets 200% kudos for writing, directing, plot, screenplay etc etc etc......

Why can't OTHER ACTORS AND ACTRESSES DO THE SAME??????? Go ahead look up Sean Bean now, look at his filmography, bet a bunch of films he has acted in, you have never ever heard of; why because they are not Major Bedazzling Motion Pictures. With a perfect plot, a genius storyline, Perfect acting or even great screen play or even half way decent CG effects or fighting sequences/battle scenes, with pristine polished dialogue.

Give this movie a chance, its fun regardless of how choppy or unseemingly it might appear. There are in fact much worse films out there..... this ain't one of them.

Isn't it interesting....
14 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen this movie a dozen times or more since it came out back in 2005. Even as a teenager I saw in it what it was expressing, so I'd revisit the film from time to time for my own sake because there are some valuable things laced within it's screenplay. It was sorta silly and sloppily put together I agree with some reviews but the thing for myself, the more I rewatched it..... the less I critiqued the little stuff the less I looked at it as a goofy messy film in spite of all its historical role play or Shakespeare's lingo. The more I sat down and actually watched the film listened to the stories wrapped with stories within it..... the more I began to appreciate the entire film. The more I began to understand that this film has it all literally, it's not trying to be something it's not people. It's trying to help us as the audience. It has the corruption the intrigue the murder the lies the way the people just idly stand by because they the people KNOW who's fault it is that put them into this mess..... and you all think a typical answer *Oh well it's the big bad government that has the citizens the people locked up and stripped of their individual rights blah blah blah*...... Nope I'm sorry if that's all YOU see within this film than I guess it's intricacies will be lost on you. The more I watched this film the more I had this glorious feeling, sure it's got the scared heroine who gets freed from her own fears blah blah blah with the addition of the freedom fighter himself called V who is all mystic and bad ass. He carries the heart of the story while laced into the plots horrific past transgressions.

This film has one single reverberating stamp on it that not many choose to acknowledge or see upon only watching it once..... took me a few tries before it struck me..... this movie is a giant 2x4 hit to the face to the people, as in US! It is one that pleads with us you *KNOW* who's "FAULT" it is that Its people and citizens are in this predicament now. The people, the country's own citizens, they elected its government, they begged and cheered for its leadership to sit on the seat of power.

The ONLY one to blame for those in the seat of government power and social structure is none other than the *"PEOPLE"* themselves.

The film somewhat glosses over this Single but vital thought throughout it..... but it was not lost on me. They have it woven within the film so well that it is bound to be missed by those who are merely content to watch it at the surface and no further.

It's a good film to revisit with all this government bs going on now in America. I could care less about Trump or Hilary what I am MORE concerned about is how passively desensitized to literally everything, all we care about is winning and making ourselves happily blissfully unaware and untroubled..... we can't be bothered to actually live life. All we care about is the latest technology how fast it goes, material wealth, money and personal gain. It makes me sick to see as THE PEOPLE of this country how far we have sunk. As a whole this is the truth. You know it and I know it.

Sucker Punch (2011)
10/10
This Film Rocks With Deep Psychology Wrapped Within It
25 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched this film at least half a dozen times, I'd really love to watch the extended version to get more of the story. It took me several viewings to realize that Not many people would actually understand what this film is addressing and bringing to light. All wrapped within a visually graphic telling. Sure the characters and the initial plot captured my attention, but than as I watched it for a second and third time a few years after it's first release, I began to realize that this story is clearly outlining a very psychological depiction of one of the characters.... And no it's not the first female character to which we are introduced to upon the opening of the film. It is going through a very personal therapeutic process to which any "average joe" off the street is simply Not going to see when watching this film, due to it's sexy elements and darker theatrics. True it is a story within a story within a story, but only a few viewers will actually understand that this film is depicting an intimate therapy session with someone who is MPD. Once I understood that, I re-watched the film and it again opened up a whole other learning and perspective for me, I no longer saw this film at such a flashy "dolled up, awesome CG" gamer/nerd movie; like so many others do. I was seeing this film beyond what was merely entertainment value, and analyzing it from a much deeper perspective. And it has taken me watching it several more times to realize that this story is in fact very complex, and it is done in such a modernized way that it is masked beautifully to those who can not see it for more than it's superficial/plot twisted/darker story-line. Sucker Punch is an elaborately woven modern perspective that tells us, it's viewers, what it is like for someone with MPD who has been willing to go through an intense therapy session or sessions to begin the process of becoming an Individual, instead of allowing her multiple personalities rule her mind. It gives average people a small glimpse into the reality that MPD does exist and what it does to someone, that that someone has more than one single individual within their psyche due to absolutely horrific trauma. By the end of this film, it concludes that the person has finally joined all of her multiple personalities and has been successful and eliminating those persons within herself; ergo finally being able to be out in the real world and be free to lead a normal life as an Individual. True this story is darker and a great watch, but let me just say in my opinion, that once the deeper story-line comes to light for those watching it and they become more aware of what it is being said underneath the story within a story within a story, it makes watching Sucker Punch such an eye opening new story all together. MPD is something only a few have personal experience with, it is real, and not many can say for certain that they fully understand what it is and how it effects the people surrounding them. Sucker Punch is a very graphically charged, wildly wrapped up, modern Multiple Personality Disorder movie for us modern folks. If only it actually looked visually that way, not many will get what the film really is about. It's done very well and I enjoy watching and learning something new each time I view it for myself.

Cinder-Ella
26 July 2016
After reading some of the other reviews and giving the film a chance to be able to be rent-able, I picked it up last weekend to give it a shot. I do enjoy how Disney is re-working their animated classics and I for one am thrilled that they are doing so! I have been a fan of the animated classics for years and years and am looking forward to seeing many more re-makes. This film was light heart-ed, whimsical, fun, entertaining and mimicked the original feature, which is great. Everything about it was a joy to see. Would recommend it to those who already know that they do enjoy the Disney animated feature. Everything in it was lovely, bright, and themed well.
