The Green Faerie (2005)
A stunning faerie tale!
This was an astounding example of a film that sets a tone, creates a world, and never breaks character. For that alone, it was a pure delight to behold. Every single detail was beautifully designed and crafted into this film to help create a cohesive and entertaining trip. From the opening titles, to the costumes and sets to the music and shot choices, this film felt genuine to its core.
The story is about as old as storytelling itself - a rich master engaging the emotions of a beautiful servant girl. So to re-tell the story and keep an audience's interest it will have to be about the presentation...and in this little movie it's beautifully done. Visually we are truly taken somewhere else. The film uses the magical properties of absinthe as the catalyst for finding love and the film is ultimately about finding love in places you wouldn't normally look. It's a beautiful story and one that doesn't follow a conventional path. I truly enjoyed it.
