Good cinematography, little substance
23 November 2022
Cinematography and acting: good

Music: too much it's distracting, often not even fitting the scene and overly dramatic

Script: that's where the film really lacks. Characters are not only unidimensional but not really likeable either. They are self centered and douchy. Their respective partners are non existant, except for being people they don't care about. Their decisions don't make sense with a number of clichés. We don't understand or feel why they are into each other, the only thing they do is have sex (we get it) and fight, there's no substance and the melo drama is forced... With this cast and cinematography it could have been much better. The one likeable and funny character is Pinky!

Not understanding the bad reviews
23 June 2022
This show is really well written and feels authentic. A peek into the life of a show, the actors, the director, the crew. It also feels quite personal from the director Olivier Assayas.

Give it a try and don't get influenced by the bad reviews who only watched the first episode..

Entertaining but slow and poor plot
20 September 2021
This has budget, making for some entertaining scenes, but the plot is quite poor, many parts didn't make sense, too much of it down to luck and it's very predictable. The characters' back stories are uninteresting, there's not much character development. It's average at best for the genre.

It's okay but doesn't feel that relatable
9 April 2021
It's a great subject of course but the characters don't feel that relatable. The only character i actually liked was jill. It changes year every episode but it doesn't actually feel like they are changing, there's little actual character development. At the end of the day it feels a bit superficial.

Way too much fiction for a true story
1 April 2021
The movie itself is entertaining and probably deserves a 7.5 rating. But for a true story about police violence, they took way too much liberties and distorted reality for the benefit of making a dramatic movie appealing to today's audience. If that's the case they should simply call it a fiction...

Wrong tone and overly stylized
14 March 2021
This movie is a succession of overly stylized scenes, there's no real stream of story, most scenes are not believable and here for wowing effect. While i really enjoyed the Avengers movies and thought they did a great a job there, they really took the wrong direction and tone to tell that story.

The constant narration is heavy and tiring. It feels like a lazy way to adapt a book. But it doesn't convey any emotion or feelings. Many clichés. The movie just doesn't work.

Beautiful and meaningful
9 February 2021
This movie is simple, beautiful, meaningful and feels right. The directing is on point and Frances was made for this role. The movie leaves a special feeling, may show you a way of life very different from what you know and makes you think about life in general. That's what amazing movies should be like

Good story but script could be better
9 February 2021
The story is one to be told and a relatable one for many Asian families immigrating in a foreign country. A lot of interesting moments and an overall good movie with a nice soundtrack. However I didn't feel the script really conveyed everything the story wanted to tell, including the meaning of Minari. I could feel the movie tried many times but didn't succeed. Steven Yuen also didn't feel right for this role, maybe he's too American to play the father. Had the potential to be much more but still a good movie

Another netflix bait click boring show
9 January 2021
How do these shows keep being done on netflix.. A bunch of actors and comedians that we don't really care about share their views on swearwords. Not even funny. Not even informative.

Not bad but could have been better
6 January 2021
Very interesting concept but I didn't fully get into the story or its message. Unlike most, while i really like lacoste and cottin in other movies, i didn't feel they were a good choice for these roles. Something felt off but it's still an enjoyable movie to watch.

Messy story telling
6 January 2021
Interesting concept but the story telling is very hard to follow. It's way too fast at the beginning to even get into the story and the characters. Half of the stories are not very interesting and the movie is quite lengthy... High quality production however and a good cast, but the story wasn't compelling enough to make it the master piece it could have been.

Coming of age story in Georgia
6 January 2021
Typical gay coming of age story but set in Georgia and in the world of their traditional dance. Beautifully made with believable actors and great chemistry between them. The main character's evolution is touching and the last choreography is beautiful. A great movie in its own genre.

More about Joshua and Ryan than minimalism
6 January 2021
The message is a good one, even though nothing new here. But those 50 minutes were boring. Joshua's theatre stage talk leans towards the ridiculous, it's pretentious and makes it unnecessarily dramatic. His life story doesn't bring anything to the concept of minimalism. Feels like he's just bragging?

So 5 stars for the message but this is not a good documentary at all. Too self centered and pretentious. It could have been a better 20 minutes documentary.

Very compelling story
26 December 2020
A great movie touching on the topic "What if?" which most of us can relate to. Felt that the characters had great chemistry and the story leaves you thinking. Very enjoyable to watch and good job by the director to tell an authentic and refreshing story.

One of Almodovar's best
26 December 2020
His most personal movie and truly one of his best. Antonio Banderas did an amazing job. The movie is extremely touching and deep as it touches the topics of depression, ageing, motivation, inspiration, success, pain and love. A MASTERPIECE, very highly recommended

Very touching ending
26 December 2020
While I thought the movie was average overall, not very funny and a bit boring at times, I give it an 8 as I was very touched by the ending. It deserves a watch for the ending but not Pixar's best overall.

Beautiful but a bit boring
26 December 2020
Outstanding cinematography where most scenes are like a painting but the movie is slow and long and the story a bit boring. Good if you enjoy nice paintings.

Started promising and ended disappointing
26 December 2020
The cinematography is beautiful and some scenes/transitions are quite creative and nice to watch. The first episode was average, then the story picked up until half of the show with quite interesting plots. However, it goes way too dramatic and becomes hard to believe towards the end. I also think the representation of teens and drugs was a bit inaccurate at times.

Funny and touching
26 December 2020
One of the best comedies in a while, the cast is outstanding and hilarious (especially Catherine O Hara), this show is not only hilarious but also touches a lot of real and relatable issues. Character development is very interesting to follow throughout the 6 seasons. Last two seasons were a bit less funny however and leaning more towards a feel-good/touching ending (it was touching!). Totally deserved all the emmys it won in 2020.

Absolutely loved it and one of a kind
26 December 2020
Binged watched this TV show, one of the best of its kind. The story feels very authentic and very relatable. It's a fun comedy with a strong touch of drama. It touches a lot of life/existential points (happiness, purpose in life, depression, sexuality, dating, self worth, etc.) for people of all age with such finess and a refreshing point of view. I don't give a lot of 10s but this TV show really deserves it. The ending was on point. Highly highly recommended!

Didn't get the story
26 December 2020
Not comparing to Your Name (which I loved), the movie is beautifully made (as always with this director) but I didn't get the point of the story and felt bored at the end of it. Maybe I missed something..

Not enough story/character development
26 December 2020
Movie has a good cast and is well-produced however the story falls short. Not much happens and some scenes leaves you wondering what the movie wants to say.
