Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Come on, it was so great
As we know how Quentin's movies personality is, Inglourious Basterds is simply a consistency. Some may find it pitiless and not emotional, but seriously. Not every movie has to be that way. I mean the characters were deep in a different way. I have so much faith for Quentin at storytelling. There's an x-factor in every of his movies, and in Inglourious Basterds the x-factor works very well. That factor reach a different kind of audiences, my kind. It gave a grandiose different perspective. Very intense, an it's a ticking bomb. Every part is a Calm Before The Storm.
Perempuan tanah jahanam (2019)
Definitely the best Joko Anwar's movie
I always have great expectations on Joko's movies. The plot was great, this story is incredibly rich. Perfect color grading, this reminds me of Outlast game franchise tension, a little bit Apostle. This movie is what we called Most Advanced Yet Acceptable. I'm all about horror movie that not just depends on jumpscares. And this isn't jumpy, this is choking to your core. They definitely did some great research to make this movie very believable and makes completely sense.
The cast is perfect. Everything was on the right place. Shoutout for Christine Hakim, she terrifies me.
I'm just a bit bothered with the humor. It wasn't essential. Not gonna say it was bad, it was funny indeed, but i don't see it necesarry in sake of the story. Maybe it's just me, but i'll find it more attractive if they don't do anything wholesome-humorous and just stay dark to a full extent.
