Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
90% of this film had nothing to do with the actual plot
This movie was so incredibly boring I wanted to leave the theater. I LOVED the first spider verse film and I love Miles as Spider-Man but despite the incredible animation, this film was like watching paint dry. I can't overstate how disappointed I was while in the theater...
Gwen's entire storyline could have been removed and maybe the movie would have been tighter but unfortunately it was a long, unnecessary mess. Hollywood has to milk every franchise that they have and made a film that could have been done in one part- as a two parter for more money.
I was incredibly excited for another spider verse film and unfortunately I couldn't wait for it to be over while watching it.
Hogwarts Legacy (2023)
Some incredible aspects to this game but your choices do not matter
I want to start off by saying I do enjoy this game and my favorite types of games are similar to this, free roam rpgs. The Sebastian Sallow quest lines are incredible and made this game for me.
I love the exploration and it had a better storyline than any of the fantastic beasts movies.
My critiques come from the unsatisfying endings of certain quest lines and that you're character can't really change the outcome of anything - whether that be through dialogue or choices you make- whether you decide to turn in Sebastian or not doesn't change the ending ceremony or plot. None of your dialogue choices will change characters minds and the game not featuring quidditch is a cop out.
While parts of the game are incredibly immersive, I can't help but notice a lot of laziness on the story developers part. Enjoy the game- it's really fun but I wish it had multiple endings and I wish you could have companions with you (Natty, Ominis, Sebastian, Poppy...)
House of the Dragon (2022)
Choppy and lazy but I want to like it
The show skips over much of the character development to basically highlight interesting points like a history book. The major time jump didn't bother me, the new actors are well casted but I was hoping they would let us live with them longer, get to know them and actually flow through the story how game of thrones does. Instead we time jump so much in this show that I feel very disconnected from the characters. All of Allison's children along with Rhaenyra's are so difficult to connect to because you can't know someone from a couple scenes In an episode and jump to them being teenagers. It just feels lazy
I have read the book and understand that this is the format but this format doesn't work for good television.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Another Lazy Member Berry Stew
Disney's formula of having a safe non violent Star Wars universe riding off the coattails of its prior films really shows through in this one. There were plenty of moments where Disney could have taken risks and deliberately chooses mediocrity to make sure they can sell toys to kids.
Disney has ruined Star Wars and turned it into a woke audiences wet dream. The inquisitor that's going off the rails and is supposed to be a major villain is flatly written, not intimidating and just feels very forced. Obi wan himself is fine of coarse but we all knew he would be.
Overall the show is a bland- drag just like book of boba fett (excluding the two shameless Mandalorian episodes they shoved in to make it more interesting)
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
No longer the most feared bounty hunter
This show is just mediocre... I've been trying but the episodes don't get better. They took away everything good about boba fett, they took away the mystery and just made him a wuss. Disney is too safe as a company and they never take any risks. Unfortunately it's ruining all my childhood media.
Turning Red (2022)
I don't know why this movie is so popular
I'm going to start off by saying it's so unrealistic.. no one is going to March down to confront a store because of a drawing of a boy... the movie is obnoxious and there are no consequences for any of the actions in this movie.
The mom is over the top
The daughter is over the top
It's a terrible movie.
Scream (2022)
Shallow Copy
The new Scream is a shallow copy of the original film. It lacks the tension and passion for the horror genre that the original film brought to the table.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
The Movie is Incredible
Ignore the people that say that this movie is insensitive, they are missing the point. You aren't meant to think it's okay what Evan is doing. You are SUPPOSED to feel uncomfortable with the situation and it is very effective. I haven't felt such an emotional roller coaster of feelings in a film in a long time and that is what cinema is meant to do. The movie covered a plethora of topics on all sides of the mental health spectrum and how the youth cope with it.
Overall it's a great movie that isn't afraid to have a flawed character as the lead and I loved that about it.
American Horror Stories (2021)
Where is the "horror"?
Based off the first two episodes this show is extremely bland, the characters are gullible and all the teens look like they are thirty. I should have known that this would be garbage after the last few seasons of American Horror Story.
Can we please stop butchering murder house please? We get it, it's fan service but in my opinion the true fans of season 1 can see through all this fake, badly written crap.
Until Dawn (2015)
It's the Little Things.
I overall enjoyed this game but to be honest the characters were so stupid sometimes that it just took me out of it. WHY WOULD YOU BARRICADE A DOOR WITH A GUN IF YOU ALSO HAVE A METAL PIPE... they also just left a loaded revolver to go explore when they knew they could find Wedigos in the tunnels wtf?
iCarly (2021)
Basic, Boring, Unoriginal
I've watched the first three episodes... didn't laugh once. Carly is a simp... Freddy's daughter is annoying. I wish I had more to say but I don't because it's just THAT bland.
It's trying to ride off the coattails of the old show and the only thing going for it is nostalgia... I don't understand why people love this, but do you... I guess...
In the Heights (2021)
Shallow and Unrealistic
At an hour and a half in literally nothing has happened ... seriously nothing. None of the characters have flaws at all so they feel like plastic people. They are talented dancers and singers and I wanted to like this film but it is all style and not a single ounce of substance.
I do not understand why this has so many good reviews because when you take away the dancing and visuals there is literally no story.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Bad Writing, Bad Performances
Every actor in this film felt like they were drug out of bed and forced to be here. It was a terrible film all around that destroyed beloved characters and a good franchise.
