Miz & Mrs. (2018)
Welcome to the most must-see WWE reality show in history, welcome to... Miz and Mrs!
This show is amazing. Usually, I don't like documentary-style reality shows, because they tend to get very stale and predictable. With that being said, Miz and Mrs takes the reality-show rulebook, tears it up, puts it into a dumpster, and sets that dumpster on fire. Every minute is chock-full of entertainment value, with Miz's outrageous personality - brash, outspoken, charismatic but self-centered - truly feeling at home on reality TV. The humor can get a little sophomoric, but it only adds to the effect of how entertaining this show is. And for the first time ever, I actually feel invested in a reality show without questioning the fact that I enjoy watching a reality show. The only complaint that I have is the length of each episode being 30 minutes, and even that won't stop me from giving this show a 10! You know why? Because he's The Miz, and he's awesome
Paradise Run (2016)
Not as good as most Nick game shows, but it'll do.
Paradise Run is a confusing show for me. Not in the way that I can't understand what's going on, because if I didn't, then that would be stupid. The reason why I say this show is confusing is because it had the potential to be a really good show, and it fell short. Don't get the wrong idea, though. I do enjoy watching Paradise Run, but there's one element of the show that I find a little annoying, and that would be the confessionals from the competitors. Yes, that's right, Nickelodeon tried to take a page from reality TV and add confessionals. And you can tell most of the time that they're scripted, even though Nickelodeon's game shows are usually unscripted. In fact, Paradise Run feels more like a reality show in general, and that's not the best thing. However, I did enjoy watching the show, as I mentioned earlier, and the fact that the show was created by Scott Stanley, the creator and executive producer of Legends of the Hidden Temple, was pretty cool.
Massive Monster Mayhem (2017)
Finally, a new Nickelodeon game show!
I gave the first few episodes of MMM a watch, and the show is surprisingly entertaining. Yes, the show is cheesy and over-the-top, but MMM embraces that. The challenges are great, the commentary actually had me chuckling in certain moments, and the CGI effects implemented throughout the show are amazing. Plus, being Nickelodeon, there will be slime, but not in the way you think. Overall, I highly recommend MMM. I'm only giving it a 9 as it isn't on the main Nickelodeon channel (it's on NickToons), but this is definitely the most underrated show on Nick's current lineup.
Legends of the Hidden Temple (2016)
Nickelodeon brought Legends back as a movie, and it didn't disappoint.
I actually got my Legends fix from Nick GAS in the mid-2000s, back when I was still in elementary school. Those years were memorable for me as a child, because I got to see one of the greatest children's game shows of all time, even if I was a little late to join in. Despite this minor setback, I thoroughly enjoyed the Legends movie. The acting was great, the story was well-written, and the nostalgic references were either hilarious, awesome, or both. (I nearly fell off my seat from the Silver Monkey and space camp references.) Overall, Nick surprised me with a solid movie reboot of one of my favorite game shows, and it definitely made me miss the good old days. It isn't worthy of an Oscar, but LOTHT was a 10 in my book. Solid work from Nickelodeon.
