The Winchesters: Masters of War (2022)
Here we gooooooooo!!!!
Best episode so far this season. The writing was spot on, the acting was phenomenal, and it was the perfect mix of old school and new school supernatural. Really bringing the best of both worlds. And personally I was super happy to see the over the top blood splatter from early seasons make a come back.
Every single actor shined in this episode but I have to give extra props to JoJo and Drake. They did some mighty heavy scenes about extremely difficult topics for this and nailed every single line. If this is what the show can be I want a ton more of it!
The show is really finding it's groove and carving out it's own path while still feeling enough like the mothership to let fans see how they're connected. This week's episode flowed a lot better than the first few-less clunky dialogue and pacing issues. It really feels like the writers are settling into these characters nicely and finding the sweet spot. Can't wait for next week!

A Good Start
Look, it's a Pilot. Pacing and dialogue were wonky-just like every other single Pilot episode of all time. The writers and actors need time to settle into this world just as much as the audience does. And I think they've laid things out in a way that's going to really allow them to do that and dive into what is so far an interesting story. I really want to see where they take this.
Mary and John have a great dynamic so far-it's like they are sizing each other up and can't fully get a read on the other. There's the little moments we see that suggest it could turn into more (like we know it does) but for now they're at a sort of truce. And I like the additions of Carlos and Lata to the group dynamic because it really feels like everyone is bringing something new to the table. You've got Mary as the world-weary hunter, John as the traumatized vet who NEEDS there to be good in the world still, Lata as the person who maybe isn't quite cut out for this job but is going to do it anyway, and Carlos who comes across as being in it a bit more for the thrill of hunting than for actually helping people. Each one has a definitive starting point here and it's going to be interesting to see how each view is going to clash with the others and change over the course of the show.
Carlos definitely stole the show with his entrance though-hands down. It had the perfect mix of absurd and hilarious that just makes it stick with you. Kudos to JoJo for nailing it! And Kudos to the rest of the cast and crew for a solid start-can't wait for next week!
