Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)
When the voice of Anthony Hopkins is the star...
Watched both rebel movies. 1st movie was a questionable 4 star, maybe more a 3 star. 2nd movie was even worse. I gave it 2 stars because the CGI and special effects were quite good. But the story... oh my.... where to start.... it just doesn't make any sense at all. The worst are the stupid dialogues, they just don't make any sense. And the backstories on the magnificent 7 were just laughable.
With such a budget it could have been so much better. Well at least we now know where Chappie went after his movie. He grew older and got the voice of Anthony Hopkins. Give us an army of 1000 chappies next movie, it'll be finished in 5 minutes. Seriously, James/Jimmy/Chappie was the only interesting character in the whole movie. Long live AI....
Ferry: De Serie (2023)
Frank Lammers acting takes it to a new level
There are some parts in the serie that are questionable or somewhat predictable. And yes, the acting is not all great, I really expected more from for instance Tygo Gerbrandt. But Ferry was just phenomenal. The dark side of the drugscriminal was really frightening, and it created a scary but beautiful contrast against the love for Daantje. It was really good and convincing chemistry between the two lead actors. The plot is maybe a bit to straight forward, but the characters and the way they slowly slide deeper and deeper into the criminal underworld, and how it changes their characters, is really well played. A must see!
Blackhat (2015)
New on netflix, but not worth it
For me this was the kind of movie which makes you on forehand doubt a little, should I watch it or not? So what do you do? You go and look at the IMDB reviews, the good ones and the bad ones. After reading all these different opinions on this movie, I gave it a try. And man, what a poor decision from my side. Even on 2x speed in the really slow parts, it was a fail in all ways. It didn't have the speed of an action movie, the drama was soooo superficial, it made my eyes hurt. I normally like Hemsworth acting, sometimes a bit to much heroism, but its mostly not really bad. But there was just no fire at all going on between him and Wang Leehom.
And if you know just a tiny little bit about hacking, this is not how it's done. The plot is just dreadful. Well enough complaints, just not worth your time and search for a better movie.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
What an abonimation
Ok, I get it. It should be a sitcom like in the comics. But i never read those. So MCU, make up your damn mind!! Its not a sitcom, I think I maybe laughed twice, but that was not because of Jen the she hulk. The star (if there even was any) off the show was the abonimation, and Wong ofcourse. Its the only upside in this series, you get to see a glimpse of the real stars. But what the heck did daredevil do in this series? Seriously, he's such a cool character in his own series, why lower himself to this level of incompetency of the MCU. This show was a 6 to the last episode, that was the real abonimation... it went down 2 points with that ending. Its not a plot twist, it's just cheap. It couldve been so much better.
The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)
Why all the bad reviews??
This series might not be worth 10 stars, but its definitely not worth 1 star, as a lot of reviewers give this serie. I binged all 4 episodes. And its totally worth it. I played all the witcher games, and this serie gives a really good context of the conjunction of the spheres. It has no flaws in it, it might be a bit fast paced, but the plot just works beatifully. We finally get to learn Ithilinn and the story behind the wild Hunt. And yes, you could do a enourmous amount of episodes about the trial of grasses, all the monsters, the wild Hunt, the different clans, Avallach and all the persons behind this series. But the makers picked the cherries, and you can argue those choices. But the acting is good, the cgi works, its just that you have to pay attention when you watch.
I hope the average score will get at least a 7.5, which is more than worth it.
The Art of Self-Defense (2019)
Really dark cynism
And I loved it. Don't go and see this movie for martial arts or the karate moves. Spoiler alert, it's NOT karate kid. But the twists are so good, it hits you right at the back of your head, where you didnt see it coming.
Eisenberg is just very good at playing an autist with asperger syndrom (remember The Facebook), so it's a fitting role for him. But the plot has some interesting twists, which are maybe a little bit predictable, but still surprises when it happens. Like puzzlepieces you saw before, and which you knew they were gonna fit somewhere but when you put them in the right place.... well, I found the storytelling absolutely genius.
4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
Disastrous four
Terrible movie... actually NOT worth more comment than that.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Where is the common sense?
Totally overrated serie, the storyline just doesn't add up. Especially the action scenes are chaotic, have no common sense. The only positive thing is the acting of the Mandalorian. The little gremlin (baby Yoda) is only cute, but it uses his (or her?) powers on strange moments. Overall not worth to pay for Disney+ only for this serie.
