Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
A ridiculous movie
I could tell from the ratings that this movie sucked but I decided to watch it anyway just for laughs.
Where to begin. Firstly the music is all wrong. Completely anachronistic and so really detracts from the overall mood. It would be perfectly nice music in the right context. Here, it just doesn't work.
Next up is the total abandonment of all known laws of physics. We have the protagonist climbing out of and hanging upside down under a plane that's flying above the cloud layer. She miraculously doesn't freeze to death nor suffocate, she doesn't get overly buffeted by 500 KM/H winds nor suffers any broken bones from the experience. I once made the mistake of putting my hands in the water while in a boat going about 60 km/H. My arm nearly got torn off.
And then we have something along the lines of rocket/grenade jumping (look it up). Our heroine falls out of a hole in the plane, straight down towards an enemy plane which explodes at just the right time to blow her straight upwards through said hole, back into the plane completely unscathed and unfazed.
Oh and there's a gremlin on the plane. Don't ask.
There's also a baby in a leather box which is quiet as a mouse during the first half of the movie as long as the box isn't opened. So basically it's super suspenseful cos we have no idea what's inside this mysterious box. As soon as the box is opened, the baby starts crying. I have 2 children and I know for a fact that this is BS.
[Rec] (2007)
Headache inducing
A professional news crew whose professional cameraman doesn't have a camera with image stabilisation. Stupid and pointless and gratuitous camera shaking.
The Deep Rig (2021)
Not enough hard facts and numbers
There was a lot of talking in this documentary and it was pretty thin on facts (of which there are plenty, eg. Drop and roll, observers not allowed to observe, shredded ballots, Jan 6 allowed to happen and instigated by the FBI, files deleted by MCBOS, etc). The documentary is likely to preach to the choir and may not convince many who think Biden is legitimate.
Fracture (2007)
Excellent edge-of-the-seat drama with a big letdown at the end
The acting by the stars is excellent. Turns out to also be an emotional rollercoaster because in the beginning Crawford is somewhat of an anti-hero and Beachum is an unlikeable egotistical hotshot. Towards the end however, Beachum becomes more likeable. The end was disappointing because Crawford is supposed to be an evil genius playing everyone like 5D chess and in the end he can't smell the super-obvious setup by Beachum from a mile away?
What Is the Electric Car? (2010)
75 minutes long, and they managed to not mention the Toyota Prius even once
It's like a documentary about world war 2 that doesn't mention the Holocaust. I'm a huge fan of electric cars and a hybrid owner (Toyota Prius). Anyone who watched "Who killed the electric car" would know just how important the Prius is in the history of electric cars.
