Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
Go woke, go broke. Plain and simple.
What should have been a fun, humour filled family movie quickly turned into a woke, pathetic attempt to shove social issues down your throat. It's not even woven into the story either. It's just thrown in there to cover each issue. This movie shouldn't even contain the title "Cheaper By the Dozen" as the original premise of the movie was a family who had 12 children all from the same mother. This movie includes only 10 children.
I grew up watching Cheaper By The Dozen (2003) and remember watching it over and over again because of its humour but also the important message about a strong family unit that would do anything for each other. I was young but even I could relate to that movie and the message that was being given. To try and force young kids to understand race issues, "white privilege" etc is just wrong on so many levels. Kids movies are supposed to steer clear of social issues, political ideologies.
If I could give this movie a 0/10 I would. The chemistry between cast is nonexistent, humour is lacklustre and the characters are easily forgettable.
The 2003 Cheaper by The Dozen got mixed reviews but at least it was a genuine family movie. Nothing about this movie would ever make me want rewatch it again.
Disney please do us all a favour and leave the originals alone. You can take your woke ideologies and stick it where the sun don't shine.
Uncharted: Live Action Fan Film (2018)
The Uncharted movie TRUE fans deserve!!!
As someone who was there for every single Uncharted game release, from Drakes Fortune to A Thieves End, I can tell you right now that Nathan Fillion did his homework on his portrayal of Nathan Drake. He completely embodies the character. For his facial expression's, to his sarcastic humour. Nathan was born to play Nathan and that is so evident in the short film.
For a fan made film I was extremely impressed with the quality and passion that was put into this project.
One of my all time favourite moments was when the camera pans out to behind Fillion during an action sequence and you feel like you are back playing the Uncharted games again.
I also have to give a massive shoutout to Stephen Lang who absolutely nailed his performance as Sully.
I know with the new Uncharted movie releasing soon that this version will most likely never be made into a full length feature film. However at least I know I can always go back and enjoy this absolute masterpiece that pays homage to one of the greatest action adventure game series of all time ! So thank you.
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
A very disappointing ending to such an amazing franchise!
I'm not a story writer by trade but here is an alternate story arc I think would have fitted the game so much better.
1. Ellie and Dina's relationship begins to grow and they set off to do their second patrol when they are captured by a group of SCARS. They try and force Dina and Ellie to betray their community and give up the location of their settlement. They refuse, so they slowly kill Dina in front of Ellie. They then approach Ellie to kill her when Joel and Tommy arrive guns blazing and scatter the group. Ellie is left crying holding Dina's dead corpse in her hands and the faces of those who killed her burned into her memory. Joel tells Ellie not to go after them, but his fatherly instincts tell him to seek justice and avenge Dina on Ellie's behalf. Joel sneaks away from camp on his quest for justice. Tommy and Ellie realise Joel has left and go after him. You play as a mixture of both Joel and Ellie at different stages of the game. Joel manages to track down each SCARs member who was there when Dina was killed and kills them one by one. Ellie and Tommy finally catch up with Joel at the final showdown with the SCARS leader, the man who killed Dina and the remaining SCARS members. An epic battle takes place which results in Joel making the ultimate sacrifice which kills both him and the SCARS leader. As Ellie holds Joel in her arms they are able to reconcile and Ellie finally forgives Joel and tells him she loves him. The sun begins to rise and as Joel looks out to the sunrise with his last breath he says "Daddy's coming home baby girl". Cue the credits.
This is the kind of story I would have loved to see in TLOU2. So sad they didn't do our beloved characters justice in this poorly written game. In my heart this is how my game ended.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Mandalorian breathes new life into the Star Wars franchise
I have been a huge Star Wars fan ever since I was a young lad ( now 25 years old ) , and I have to say that the Mandalorian absolutely takes the cake for live action tv series! It truly brings out the essence of what the original movies were ! Pure cinema magic! The Mandalorian both has great story while yet leaving many questions unanswered (for now). It also appeals to the fast pace sci-fi action we have come to love from the Star Wars franchise while it also does an incredible job in the more quieter times by drawing on the characters emotions, sense of duty and humanity. The Madalorian also doesn't feel like a cheap spin off. CGI is done with great care and quality, particularly the various alien creatures, (see episode 2).
I am extremely excited to see where the Mandalorian goes with its story and I hope it will last for many seasons to come!
God of War (2018)
God of War- The Masterpiece of this Generation
A common term that has been bouncing around Game developers of late has been that single player games are dead and that multiplayer games are the way of the future due to their popularity. God of War came to blow that statement out of the water and it did just that. What I love most about this masterpiece is the people behind it. Within just the first hour of playing you can really tell that the incredible team at Sony Santa Monica poured their hearts into this game.
Within a short period of time we are introduced to new and yet familar Kratos and his son Atreus. The combat feels fresh and as fluid as ever. But nothing and I mean NOTHING beats the feeling of throwing the Leviathan (Kratos Axe) for the first time only to recall it and feel a slight rumble in the controller as you catch it makes you feel like you are actually Kratos. The greatest part of this game is getting to watch and experience the relationship between Kratos and Atreus grow and evole into one of the most epic Father/Son stories told of all time. What blew my mind was that a game that has rougly a 20-25 hour story plus with an additional 10-15 hours of side content to tackle is that it is all done in one seemless shot. Thats right no breaks to cutscenes, no loading screens, nothing! Apart from when you die of coarse. I can honestly tell you there were times that I wasnt sure if I was supposed to controll Kratos or if it was a cutscene because they are both as one when it comes to God of War. Even as the end credits roll you are never taken away from the game. That's right it throws you right back into Midguard to finish any unfinished tasks you may need to complete. I have played every entry in the God of War series and I can honestly say this is their greatest one yet.
From its gripping and appealing story, incredible scense of immersion to its fluid and addictive combat it is safe to say Sony Santa Monica has officially set the standard of single player games to a whole new level and has changed the way we play games forever. So thank you to everyone at Sony Santa Monica for this incredible experience and I look forward to seeing the next Chapter in the God of War series.
