Vivarium (2019)
Pointless
There is no point to this movie. I've read some reviews on here about how it's a take on modern family life or capitalism or other, but...WHAT?!?! If this movie represents how you see modern life then you should see a therapist.
First, there's the craziest guy you'll ever meet. Any reasonable person would have ran from this guy but these people decide to follow him into a neighborhood where every house is the EXACT same. Is this the take on modern life/track home neighborhoods the 10 star people talk about?
You could stop right there. There's no story line.
The couple are given a baby and they're told they'll be "released" if they raise it. So they do. The child is a nightmare, watches everything they do, imitates them constantly, speaks in an adult voice and makes alien noises. Also, they don't want it to watch TV, which only ever shows the equivalent to static, but they never break the TV. Despite everything, they raise it to adulthood.
The only scary thing for me in this movie was the thought that anyone could be as dumb as these people. It would have been more satisfying if they murdered the kid and then were forced to start over with a new baby and then that led to something actually happening along the way, or at least at the end.
Instead, the couple die. And that's the end of the movie. Nothing happens. Ever. I want my time back.
The Grand Tour: The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown (2021)
Ignore the haters
I see all the reviews on here with people saying "they've done all this before." And yes, they have, that's why we're all still watching and waiting/hoping for each new episode. If you loved them before you'll still love them. Period. As for the people saying the ending was weird, perhaps, as an American (please don't judge), I can add some perspective. Here in America, we can't make anything anymore, not with any quality anyhow. So, instead, we import nearly everything from China, which is also rubbish. That's it. Does it make sense! No. But that's what we do and that's why they were at an "American" bar and grill where everything was Chinese.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Remember when...
...Superman flew around the world and turned back time. Imagine a whole movie like that. That's WW84.
The Descent (2005)
The Descent to an ending worse than am M. Night Shyamalan film
I went into this movie not knowing what to expect, but the trailer got me interested so I rented it. I was actually kind of into the movie most the time. It was pretty slow but had some nice gory scenes and was fairly suspenseful (although after seeing the film it's easy to tell the suspense is created by the film score). The ending was completely and utterly stupid. Yes, stupid, there is no better word to describe it. I read that the UK ending at least solidified the story but the US version left me confused. From what I read I would have liked the UK version and most likely would give the movie around a 6. However, the US version was a waste of my time, therefore a rating of 1. I compare to M. Night Shyamalan because his movies have the best trailers and the most potential, but always fail to live up to expectations, actually they leave me totally disappointed, as did The Descent.
