Secrets of Sulphur Springs (2021)
Best thing since So Weird !!! 10/10
Was hoping some simple tv show... but man!! This is a huge surprise!! Season 1st is a master move. Am actual plot, storyline, compelling characters. The kids do an awesome acting job, it's just the best show I see from Disney since the So Weird tv show +20 years ago.
Not kidding: watch this! Reminds me of Are u afraid of the dark and Black Hole High kind of thing, but with modern approach, designs, takes and effects.
There's a twist in the plot when you need it, there are many top cliffhangers on each episode to keep you interested, there are things you know that the parents don't, then the parents do know things that you also know but the kids didn't discover yet... FANTASTIC!!
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Best movie of the decade. Period.
Well, that's it folks. Best movie of the year by a long mile, and for me best movie of the past decade. Not something to try to impress someone, but just expression all the way. Not trying to correct something or sending a meta-message between the lines, but pure, well organized simple gold storytelling and character drive movie.
The old guys playing old guys, the young guys playing their roles. Every cast fits their role. It's believable. It's top notch and top tier of film making.
There's a strong story. There's a past. There's fear for the future. This is not a movie, this is called life.
Rise (2018)
GREAT unknown serie!
Aulii gets me every time, that's why I started. But oh God, we had top performances specially from the adults actors at the firsts 4-5 episodes, and then middle to the end the kids glow and really shine in a deep sense. Last episodes are so emotional and well paced, very well written in general, and in particular Mr. Mazzu's interactions with others and his lines, that's just fantastic choose of words + delivery.
GREAT show, very deep, with a strong message underneath:
Be brave, you can do it, give your best, and share.
Supernatural: Lebanon (2019)
This is the original strong story
NOW this is actually the best episode ever, cause this is the main and only reason the character do what they do.
End of times and world ending has become usual things, but this not, this was always tha missing piece. Is even that strong that Mary on herself doesn't really have too much power in her relationship with her kids.
But when father is there, you can see her having the proper space to be a mother and leaving some pressure on his shoulders, that gives equilibrium to their dynamics, and also the actress shining more.
Awesome acting from Dean Morgan, always the perfect smile and expression at the perfect moment, embracing the entire story, so much better than before. The boys actors are always 9-10/10 in this emotional situations, but this time they broke the screen cause man, this story was different and was special event.
With the support of the wtiting, a very good direction, the four implied, a good short episode story and a full circle of the main story-drive of the series, this was the best episode in the entire show period.
Now they can do whatever with the story, they could even kill the boys at the end, does not matter, this was the proper ending episode of the real story.
Supernatural: Stranger in a Strange Land (2018)
If I came this way to see reviews, I know it was bad
Jensen/ Michael acting is cool, altough the f question not leading anywhere, same with the wannabe king if hell, as a writer myself, don't create a convenient dude to fill a gap, try to make it important and you kill him in the next 5 min. Even less if you have been doing this same formula like 15 times in the last 2 seasons, even less if it's a season premiere where suppose to be a good punch, even less not taking care of character traits (Castiel not seeing demons? Sure... ), even less bringing some empty vessel who supposed to be dead (Lucifer is dead, great, sure, so why the hell are you bringing to the show his empty vessel? Is he gonna become a super hunter? Is he gonna be a Bobby for a useless Jack? Is he gonna love Mary? Is he gonna be... nope, he somehow is gonna be connected AGAIN to whatever Lucifer memory is around, with any excuse, spell, deal, convenient hole, and of course gonna try to rise and bla bla bla). Silly episode, to begin with. I always suspected that the Leviathan thing was soo extra and silly in season 7... season 6 was weird but good with the brothers fighting together again... This show should have ended with season 5 finale, and then a very powerful movie under the premises of season 6.
Some Crowley, not Leviathans, not Asmodeus, not Rowena, not Jodi Mills and the young blonde, not whoever in the middle, not Mary2, not Lucifer, not his son, not Ketch, not man-woman of letters, nope, is you see that from perspective, it's all an extra filling for a good story that happened before.
Testigo de otro mundo (2018)
Exellent movie. Great documentary UFO bright spot!
There was some controversy inside the UFO Argentinian investigators, because there is a fraction (they worked with this case since the beggining) thinking that "you never ever should mix UFOs and beliefs and new age stuff". Ergo, they think automatically that this movie was made only for making money, there was some stuff about the case that never was shown, the Guarani connection was forced and they almost machiavellically manipulated Juan, the main character, to say stuff that (presumably) Juan would never say.
That being said, the movie is so good!
It actually starts with the director's journey and then comes the transition to the main character's journey. While you see actually Juan's life, you connect with his eyes and the soulful truth about what he experienced.
The case is one of the most important (if not the most) Argentinian cases, and it's well described and shown, even the special effect moment. The case itself, if you include every detail, could be a 2hr movie itself, but that would be a dry documentary and this was more a storytelling of a journey, showing the emotional impact of that experience in a today grown guy.
The intention of the director (and sub-character) was nobly trying to help Juan to connect with "the why", wich is psychollogically a help itself. They went into Juan Guarani origins and finally Juan find himself happy and deeply connected to a supporting belief (to say at least). Then you see Juan eyes again, and he is now emotionally grown as a consequence of embracing his memories, a grounded man.
So yeah, some stuff about the case is not shown (like the small entity feeding with meat the other entity, or him racing off with the horse and a glove, and the final persecution against a flying door and a lightning ball / I KNOW, WHAT A WEIRD AND AMAZING CASE! /)
But the movie is excellent. Storytelling is good, solid. Music is very good. Character is real. Case is real.
9/10
Sigeuneol (2016)
Awesome
I don't have many words to say. Grab Frequency, Frequency series, a few other past/present/future movies, add 2-3 big cases to investigate, make them important to the main story, grab 3-4 spectacular performances, don't rush process and respect times to drama-suspense-romance development and BOOM!! Voilá, you got SIGNAL!! Outstanding.
