Average Joe (2023)
Unexpectedly funny and well written
I stumbled upon this show by accident. They have done a terrible job marketing it. It's funny, well written, great acting and unique. So much stuff today is rinse and repeat. Average Joe has a great storyline and the chemistry between the actors is fantastic.
Average people caught up in a bizarre situation and bumbling through how to deal with people trying to kill them. They aren't very good at covering up the murders of the assassins sent to kill them. Why would you leave dead bodies in a van and park it on the street? With the strike, I've been trying to find things to watch. So happy to find this little gem.
Black Mirror: Mazey Day (2023)
Meh
I didn't understand how and why she became a werewolf. Was it the guy she killed? Did he turn her into a werewolf? It made no sense to me. I liked the aspect of the paparazzi and chasing her down, stalking her. The werewolf angle made no sense. Was she chained up until she got rid of the werewolf inside her? Did she turn into a werewolf before? Did she murder people? It would have made more sense if there had been a news report of people being attacked by an animal. Or if at the end, they showed the man she hit lived long enough to scratch her and he was shown to be a werewolf. I don't mind a surprise twist but make it make sense.
Succession: With Open Eyes (2023)
Disappointed
I didn't like the ending. Why would he make Tom CEO and why would he share that info with him prior? It didn't make sense to me. He doesn't know Tom. A smart business man would not have made such a rash move. It all felt unrealistic and a rushed ending.
I understand Shiv has a love/hate relationship with her brother but she also has one with Tom. Why would she want Tom to get the CEO role when he won't even make a commitment to her. She has been so strong and fearless and to have cave at the end and give Tom the power, goes against her character. They made her weak. I didn't feel the ending did the series justice.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (2023)
It was perfect!
I read the book when I was 12 shortly after it came out. I loved it. I identified with Margaret and read it over and over again. The movie was true to the book and the casting was spot on. It was everything I hoped the movie would be. It took 50 years but they got it right. I loved that they kept the timeframe in the 70's instead of todays time. It added to the charm not to have computers or cell phones.
I don't know if the experience will be different for someone who hasn't read the book. For me, it took me back to being 12. If you are a fan of the book, I highly recommend you go see it. You won't be disappointed.
Star Trek: Picard: Imposters (2023)
Fantastic!
This was an amazing episode! Loved the appearance of a certain actor and how they were so pivotal to the episode. We need a spin-off!!!! Loving Captain Liam Shaw and Jack Crusher! There was so much action and twists and turns and so many unanswered questions.
I love the new look for Worf and how his character has evolved. Raffi and Worf working together is awesome. They have great chemistry.
I can't wait to see the final 5 episodes and how it plays out. The production values, costumes, everything is very high quality. Did I mention that we MUST have a Titan spin off? It can't end! We need more of the Titan adventures.
The Orville: From Unknown Graves (2022)
Excellent episode
The production values were outstanding. I loved the backstory and it was beautifully told. Having it run 75 minutes, allowed it to tell the story without cutting corners. Moving it to Hulu without time restrictions is wonderful. We need a season 4. Get everyone to watch so it gets renewed.
Outer Range (2022)
Fix the lighting
I thought it was just me and I have a newer 4K TV, Its so hard to know what's going on when you can't see anything. It's very distracting. Now I see other folks have the same issue. You can have a "dark" tone to a show without keeping people in the dark.if it continues, I'll stop watching.
