What We Do in the Shadows: Reunited (2022)

Thank the Fates, it's back!

I have so missed this show! And it hasn't missed a beat, either. This new season starts off with brilliantly manic reunion of our favorite vampire family. Lots of nutty incidents to keep viewers howling at the moon. Whoops! Wrong monster reference. My bad. However, this show is great. Love it!

Suitably nuts!

Our favorite paranormal investigators have returned and are at it again. This time they're after an invisible fiend and the effects are splendid and so much fun. A solid beginning for season three!

This show is nuts!
9 March 2022
The best way to describe Wellington Paranormal is that it's a mashup of Reno 911 and X-Files on crack. It's a lot of fun, even though Officer Minogue comes across as totally clueless and Officer O'Leary is almost as bad. The dialogue in this show is a bit hard to follow at first, but binge-watching helps to get used to the accent. A very fun show, especially if you like over-the-top humor.

Doctor Who: Fugitive of the Judoon (2020)
Season 12, Episode 5

Much better!
27 January 2020
This episode is a lot of fun, which is an element missing from the past few episodes. It has a lot going for it: backstory, the return of Captain Jack, another version of the Doctor, and a briskly written story. By minimizing the companions on this episode, the writers can focus more on the complicated existence of the Doctor - and the Judoon are back, too! Well done episode. Let's see more like this one.

Mindless fun.

Check your brains at the door, grab some popcorn, and enjoy a classic Lost World movie. For its time (1978) the special effects are not too bad, and even though the acting is wooden with a predictable plot, it's simply fun entertainment.

Set in 1896, this is the tale of a an deep sea mission to explore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, when both McClure's diving bell and the ship's crew are dragged under to Atlantis, where they are imprisoned. Naturally, being a Doug McClure lost world flick, there are monsters to contend with as he and the crew fight their way back to their world.

Oh, yes. There's also the perennial beautiful girl that McClure's character loses his mind over. And look for a young John Ratzenberger (Norm on "Cheers").

Huge disappointment!
20 December 2019
The promotional commercials for this production are much better than the actual program. Too much added material, unneeded characters - Ali Baba?? Come on! - and I could go on. It's not worth wasting any more words here. By the way, the pacing drags and the special effects cannot save this. Give it a pass.

Starhunter Redux (2017– )

Well...
3 June 2019
Whoever decided to resurrect Starhunter deserves some credit for having guts. This reboot series is pretty bad: poor writing, acting, sfx, and direction. Serious science fiction fans will either howl with disgust or derisive laughter at this series. It ain't great, but if you want to practice your heckling skills, then grab a bowl of popcorn and a soda and enjoy yourself. That's how I'm handling this show. Even so, it is good to see Michael Pare on screen again.
