86ED (2021)
What Is This?
I saw this on Tubi just now. I was thinking it was going to be something like, "I posted something online and people reacted negatively."
This guy grabbed his ex-wife by the hair and threw her down, then hit her with a bottle. The whole movie is about how hard he worked and how he doesn't deserve consequences, while sad piano music plays in the background.
The whole thing is worse than when Kevin Spacey apologized. 1:23:30 is about where he starts talking about it.
He got drunk and then got mad that his business partner/ex tried to keep the restaurant running that night after he bounced and then beat her up behind the restaurant.
What kind of universe is he living in? This is a portrait of someone incapable of introspection, who feels persecuted because he reacted violently to having his ego bruised. How do people get like this?
White Gold (2017)
Entertaining, Good Representation
I loved this. I thought the actors were all charasmatic. Anybody who has ever worked sales will feel this stuff in their bones and relate to the struggles.
If you suffer from anxiety, don't watch this. Also, don't go into sales. You have to turn off your empathy to succeed. This show is fantastic at demonstrating how people get backed into a corner and bite back at the world.
My favorite bit was Vincent selling his next door neighbor on some BS and then responding to their complaints with a truly sociopathic outlook on life. It reminded me of managers asking if I had any friends or family who trusted me. Anyone who ever @#%$ed something up for a customer and then had to deal with it every day knows that feeling.
The narrative style and character types are similar to "You" or "Dexter", so if you're into those shows, you'll probably like this.
Devil's Acid (2018)
flawed but fun
Whole this movie has some issues with quality, I still think it has heart and is fun to watch.
I'm not going to critique everything. I just saw it had a bad rating and wanted to say it's worth watching. There's some wtf moments and some pretty funny parts.
I thought the actor who played the main guy was good. Watch the first five minutes on Tubi and tell me you don't at least chuckle after he is yelling at the help and then jumps up from the table. He plays a very hateable character, and does it well.
I liked the way the movie is set up as a story a drunk dad is telling his kids, too. While it didn't add a lot, it didn't take away and it added some levity.
Biggest mistake these losers made was making it about money... that's how you have a bad trip.
