Scarlett (1994)
Perhaps, it's fine movie if we don't compare with the original
As Gone With The Wind fans... I always curious about what happened with Rhett and Scarlett after they separated. But this series completely awful and not expected. This series is not only ruined GWTW' story, and also ruined each character too much.
In the end of GWTW, we can see how desperate, lost, and regret of Rhett to Scarlett, so he decide to leave Scarlett with his memorable line... "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn". But in this series, Rhett's character look so cheerful, playful, getting sleep with the other woman easily like nothing happened before.
Honestly, Dalton quite suit as Rhett. He has good look and charm, but Clark Gable just perfect as Rhett Buttler. Joanne Whalle totally miscast as Scarlett. She doesn't has beauty, spirit, or passion as Scarlett. I know it's so impossible to find someone who can reach Vivien Leigh' level as Scarlett.
If this series is not referred as GWTW sequel perhaps I can be more tolerant.
It Happened One Night (1934)
One of Best Romantic Comedy All The Time
OMG... this film so hilarious, clever and sweet. It has original story and fresh idea about romantic comedy.
Clark Gable really did excellent job to bring this film more live. He is so funny, clever, and comical. Everything that he is doing in this film look so natural and funny. Definitely one of Clark's best performance. He really deserve an Oscar for his performance.
Chemistry between he and Claudette Colbert very delightful and cute. Just simply romantic. Bravo!!!
You're Not You (2014)
Not bad, but not great either
If I try compare this movie with "Me Before You", then I can say this movie much better. But some character is not remarkable. Swank's character is unrealistic, Duhammel's character look wooden and boring.
And my biggest disappointed with this movie, what Mcmahon's character doing in here, so suck, awful, and asshole. Can't believe he take this role because so useless. C'mon.. can you imagine a person with title professor doing nasty scandal with his student? I thought his character more look like gigolo than a professor, there is no credibility. What a mess.
12 Monkeys (1995)
Don't understand why this film get high score
This movie has great cast, and sound like so promising, but in fact the film is not as good what you think. I even don't know why they made this film.
First, the story begin with Cole who did time travel. Then, the story try to convinced us that time travel doesn't exist. It's just Cole imagination, he is crazy guy same with Jeffrey. But suddenly the story change when Dr. Rilley found fact that Cole really do time travel. She even help Cole finishing his mission. So the story begin with their struggle.
This movies seems giving us a lot of puzzle... how can Jeffry release from hospital and suddenly become 12 monkeys leader? We know he is crazy guy. Again, the story try convinced us with Jeffry want spread the virus so Cole and Rilley try to stop them... but the fact he is not... what he's doing? His insane just for animal freedom... and who is the real enemy?? The Dr. Goines' assistant.. what the hell... that guy just show in short time suddenly become the real enemy WITHOUT EXPLANATION!
And the worse thing ever in Aiport scene. After almost 2 hours this film run and guess what... their struggle FAILED WITHOUT SOLUTION! Come on 5 million people going to die when the virus spread but what we got... Just Cole die in policeman's hand when he try to stop Dr. Goines' assistant runaway... after that what the police doing? nothing, what Rilley doing? nothing... the policemen even don't suspicious or try to find out about the happened... and this movie ending without problem solving. We even don't get news about Jeffrey and the gang or even Dr. Goines himself.
I can say this film may be the best performance by Bruce Willis in his whole career but his acting can't save this story. Very surprising watch Brad Pitt act like that, he give great performance but a little bit overacting sometimes. I love the girl who play Dr. Rilley, so beautiful. But I have big complaint why they put Christopher Plummer here ? He did good job as supporting actor but his character as Dr. Groines is useless and not worthy. His character doing nothing during this film run.
So I give 8/10 for the acting and 4/10 for the story
Somewhere in Time (1980)
Great but missed something
I will agree that Somewhere in time is the best movie of Christopher Reeves. He did great job in here and Jane Seymoure looks so beautiful and perfect lady but her acting just average and look unconvincing when she fall in love with Richard. Seems too fast and forced. She even doesn't have sympathetic with his manager who had found and raise her as a star for many years. But for me, the acting of Christopher Plummer is superb... excellent performance as villain. His character more interesting and makes me sympathetic with his pain.
The biggest complain about this movie, it's seems give audience some mysteries like... how could the older Elise can recognise Richard ? Or how Robinson know about Richard ? And since Robinson is Richard's rival, he deserve get a little bit story about his ending... The film just leave him without any explanation. That's so awful
On Golden Pond (2001)
Wrong choice for reunion
I watch this movie just because Julie and Chris but I think this time their chemistry kinda forced. Julie and Chris doing great for their performance but they look unconvincing as old pairs. When Chris got heart attack, Julie just panic and do not know what to do. If they really old couple for many years, Julie should be know what she must to do if Chris got heart attack because it's must be not the first time Norman get heart attack.
I love the scene when Chris forgot the direction, then decide go home early and tell Julie about him senile, Julie hold him and kiss his head, is so sweet but they look like old friends than pair. But, the chemistry between Norman and Billy Ray, Jr. Very interesting. Like nosy grandpa with his grandchild, more enjoyable than Norman and Chelsea scene.
