The third and last documentary part of the series of that began in 1991 with the "The Power of Generalissimo", first part. Here are the happened most important events in the Dominican Republic in the period between the 16 of August of 1952, date of the arrival to the of Negro Trujillo like President of the Republic, and the 8 of November of 1961, day of the exit of the country of Ranfis Trujillo and their family. Between the events treated in this part they stand out the trip from Trujillo to Spain, the Fair of La Paz, the kidnapping of Galíndez, the invasion of the 14 of June, the death of the sisters Mirabal, the execution of the dictator, and the death in which they participated in the plot against Trujillo, among other subjects. René Fortunato concludes therefore an historical revision that would be added to many others of equal magnitude in the literary order, but that in the audio-visual area has become the document more taken advantage of in terms its educative value.
Trujillo: El poder del jefe (1991)
Shows the political, economic and social conditions that determined the sprouting of the dictatorship of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic.
The documentary one shows the political, economic and social conditions that determined the sprouting of the dictatorship of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. It offers in addition, a stirring vision of more than twenty years of Dominican history, 1916 to 1937, using for such aim, films of the time, pictures, documents, near recordings of speeches of Trujillo and their collaborators, as well as other audio-visual resources of spectacular character. This documentary one, with some deficiencies in its dramatic art, obtains of all ways a conviction on the information handled in its work, saving the audio-visual distances between the historical speech and revelations.
Trujillo: El poder del jefe II (1994)
The political and social events in the Dominican Republic are happened more important during period 1938-1952.
The political and social events in the Dominican Republic are happened more important during period 1938-1952. The actions of the Trujillo's dictatorship during the Forties and the efforts of the refugees ones to overthrow it, are dialed with with details in this second documentary part of the series about "The Power of Generalissimo" . The invasions of Cayo Confite and Luperón, Juventud Democrática and the different conspiracies, as well as the relations of Trujillo with the United States before the beginning of the "Cold War", occupy a good part of this documentary one. In this occasion there are more approximate advantage to the rigor of the documentary one notices, through its voice over and other lines.
4 hombres y un ataud (1996)
This comedy of Pericles became a hope on the subject of humor
"Four men and a coffin" (1997) came from the hand of Pericles Mejía, an active producer of commercial who, taking his experiences in the advertising field, obtains the time, the investment and the vision to expose themselves to the public scrutiny to show a new product. This comedy of Pericles became a hope on the subject of humor, reaching an approximated budget of 6 million pesos. "Four men and a coffin" is translated like another attempt to portray to us and to expose our misfortunes, hopes, customs and odd habits. The sort of the comedy is taken again to count a story that tends to mix several aspects of the popular surroundings to decipher it in a sheet of multiple facets, but the way of its exhibition separates it of the true possibilities in the terms of its correct narrative construction. Is the story about Jorge (Cuquin Victoria) that is taking care of his best friend's burial, Jacinto (Richard Douglas). His drinking pals, among others mourners, gather and the watch which will gradually become a drinking party. In such a disorder some people try to avoid profanation and get the funeral started: the priest, Jorge'lover Evelyn, Jacinto's mother-in-law and Jacinto own widow. The priest organize the procession to the cemetery. But, following popular tradition, the departed's friend want to take the coffin to a few acquaintance homes for the last farewell.
Un pasaje de Ida (1988)
Agliberto provides a dramatic passage with the absolute guarantee to take the control from a strong and human history.
Based on the reality of the illegal trips, this film takes a real fact occurred in 1980 when several Dominicans passed away asphyxiated within a container of the boat Regina Express. Agliberto provides a dramatic passage with the absolute guarantee to take the control from a strong and human history. In spite of the technical deficiencies, the work of the camera made by Peyi Guzmán focuses a surrealistic style to equip to the image with that veracity and significance in the film language. A nourished group of Dominican actors is put under the scrutiny of a public who saw reflected in the screen all his fears to open a stage important in the persistence to make some kind of national cinema. Agliberto next to Danilo Taveras and Adelso Cass composes history of the Regina like a realistic fable of the Dominican one without doors that to open. Without structuring a thematic line in the Dominican films "One Way Ticket" determined the tone of the marginality like a constant in the Dominican cinema. This films had a cost approximated to the 420.000 pesos and the recovery of the investment was slow since the market in that then ones were not prepared to receive a creole product.
