King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Decent Arthurian movie but main actor falls way short
This was a decent fantasy movie at best, with the usual surplus of Hollywood cgi effects. Not sure Ritchie's style of comical drama story-telling worked here as it felt like even the actors didn't know what they were supposed to be feeling half the time. Biggest gripe is that the movie fell short in casting Charlie Hunnam as king Arthur, he was simply horrendous. I thought Charlie did a great job as a biker 'king' in SOA (sons of Anarchy), but as Arthur, he simply falls way way short. He does appear to be a good actor but in this movie it was as if he brought over his SOA character without changing a thing. Even the way his Arthur character walked was identical to the i'm so cool, show-offy gangsta shuffle he does in SOA. And let's not get started at his terrible attempt at an English accent. To sum up, story-wise this movie is not an overly creative or innovative twist on the Arthurian myth. Acting is overall decent, Jude Law wasn't bad, except for Arthur. All in all, the movie is worth a watch if you can enjoy it purely for the special effects and background sets.
Loaded (2017)
Utter rubbish
British TV series humour is more often then not the best in the world without even trying, and it is often so good that it spawns new 'lesser' versions of itself overseas. So a show about 4 nerdy brit game devs who hit it big looked like it was going be awesome. Absolutely not in this case. I have been trying really hard to like, heck, trying really hard to watch without fast-forwarding, this show but the writing is just absolute utter rubbish. The 4 main characters are completely unlikable, boring, annoying and all that, and not in the good way other brit shows have been able to achieve similarly annoying characters. The general idea has so much potential but up to half way through episode 7, which is as far as I managed to make it before giving up, they have fallen way short. This is a shame, since the actors have all done much much better stuff before.
Pork Pie (2017)
This was a great surprise!
Perhaps not a totally original theme, but definitely a breath of fresh air as far as road trip movies go, and of course that amazing scenery! The main characters aren't goody-two shoes but you're unlikely to get fed up or annoyed with them. Although these fairly unknown actors did a fantastic job easily on par with more established ones, the star of the show has to be that mini! Now thanks to this movie, I would have to say that New Zealand can happily be known for something other then middle earth!
War Machine (2017)
Complete waste of time
It only gets a 3 star because it somewhat tried to show the American deep state's love for engaging in wars in other sovereign countries.
Where they spent the 60mill is a complete mystery, i sure hope a huge chunk of it wasn't on brad pitt who looked totally out of place in the character he attempted to portray.
Overall the movie was huge bore, not at all funny with only about 2mins of action.
