The Fugitive (1993)
He built a career
It was funny seeing Nick Searcy complaining about the US Marshall service interfering with his LEO plan. Just 20 years later he's playing the chief of a Kentucky US Marshall office.
Doctor Detroit (1983)
Long time no see . .
The last, and only, time I ever saw this movie was when it debuted back in '83. I sorta lost track of it over the years and ran across it on STARZ tonight. It has aged remarkably well. Of course, I was just a sophomore in college when SNL premiered on TV and I saw practically every movie the original SNL cast appeared in early after they left the show. Then again, I couldn't imagine any of the original cast could make a really bad movie.
It is wise to never underestimate the creativity of any SNL cast members over the years and their ability to bring a fresh caricature and character to life.
Gunsmoke: Outlaw's Woman (1965)
Typical fare for Gunsmoke with some help from the gun Gods
Another typical show. They do catch up with the bad guys in the end and Dillon puts on an impressive shooting exhibition. Marksmanship is better with a rifle but no one shooting a rifle hits much more than the ground. Matt, on the other hand, manages to take his assailants with rifles with his revolver at rifle ranges. Matt also managed getting 11 shots out of his revolver. For review, those who carried the 1873 revolvers (Colt, Remington) usually carried over an empty cylinder due to the long firing pin on the hammer. Matt was carrying only one revolver so he didn't swap it out, he just put 11 shots down range with a gun that should have been carrying only 5 rounds. And he never reloaded either.
Lost in Space: Shell Game (2019)
This episode centers mostly around the robot.
The robot shows considerable compassion for "scarecrow" - the robot damn near killed by Hastings and his ilk.
This episode is one of my favorites because it shows the robot to be practically the only character who seems to understand the spirit of humanity and uses this against the humans "he has adopted" - not the other way around. It puts all efforts to assist the humans on hold and engages all his energies into assisting a fallen comrade/friend/family. He eventually accomplishes this by appeasing to the compassion of the humans - in particular, Ben Adler. Adler had brought his electrical weapon intending on recapturing the robot to power the Resolute but in a last plea for assistance "Help. Ben Adler" "Ben Adler. Help Family" as he points to "scarecrow". Adler is overwhelmed by the compassion and understanding of the robot as showing itself more than just a non-organic artificial life form. Ben had been fighting an internal battle of his wits as he watched the robot learn to care for other life forms on the amber planet. Ben ultimately helps Will pull scarecrow onto the J2 and they take him to the ring on the amber planet where the lightening storm strikes. Ben Adler sacrifices himself in this endeavor but dies with the satisfaction that his boyhood dreams of meeting and interacting aliens has come to fruition.
Lost in Space: The Robinsons Were Here (2018)
Time for a weapon!
As I understand it, Victor is the elected colony representative so he should be able to authorize John to print a weapon - handgun and/or rifle - as they begin to encounter more threats. Or heck, get the Robot to print one - he had no issues getting around security protocols when he printed the handgun for Will.
The fact that the robot is learning human values from Will and should know nothing about the human race except by his interaction with Will, I have to wonder how the robot knew it could print a weapon in the first place. And it seems to know that it's kind (robots) are dangerous to humans so why not build a weapon that blasts hot plasma shots like the robots use when attacking?
And, no, Maureen has no input into this discussion. She has made it clear that she is smarter than most others by her input into building the Resolute but she has no concept of defensive tactics - her SEAL husband does. Let him contribute to their survival by using his skill set developed while in the armed forces.
Lost in Space: Infestation (2018)
Distance measurements . . .
Why do they keep referring to the millions of light years left to traverse? Alpha Centauri is 4.37 light years from earth.
