Lightyear (2022)
Better than I'd been told
I'd heard that this movie was weak and a storyline lacking spinoff fest, so I refused to see this at the cinema on the basis of the critical reviews.
When it came out on Disney plus, my wife suggested it for family film night. I was reluctant to watch it but it's already bought and paid for when you have a streaming service and worst case scenario is that you can look at your phone or go to sleep instead of watching.
The film wasn't like I was expecting at all. It had a great story, was heartwarming, a great plot reveal, some decent action, comedy moments, etc. It was a great family film and well worth watching. My only regret is that it would have been more immersive at the cinema.
As for my wife's thoughts on the movie...well, she fell asleep, but then she always does when we watch movies at home.
The Batman (2022)
Great film, but it'll drive you crazy if you know Liverpool
Quite a lot of scenes filmed in Liverpool, so if you know Liverpool you'll get a really weird feeling as you watch this. Great film though, although RPatz makes a great Batman but a weak Bruce Wayne.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Awful, just awful
Sorry, but this is just pure crap. The story was weak, acting awful and if I could have rated it 0/10, honestly, I really would have done. We watched it on Disney+ and I almost felt like asking for money back for the time I spent watching it. Avoid it like cock rot.
Interceptor (2022)
Proves that Chris Hemsworth isn't good at everything.
Low budget, naff, cliche twaddle. Totally unplausable. I've pooped out better than this absolute stinker. Presumably went straight to streaming and didn't show in any cinemas. Surely someone must have thought "this is awful" while they were making it?
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (2012)
Great interviews, great personalities...
The chemistry between Seinfeld and each of the interviewees is just magic. The episodes should be longer though, you just don't get enough time for the subjects to become completely natural. OK, so this type of thing will never be 100% authentic, but watching these are still a beautiful experience. The cars are awesome, would love to drive some of these beautiful vehicles.
Grayson's Art Club (2020)
Wonderful and insightful
This is a mix of Grayson and Phillipa Perry commenting on various different artists' works during the Covid-19 lockdown mixed with scenes of the husband and wife pottering about their studio, just chatting with each other while they're creating their art. Seeing the public art is wonderful. There are some very talented people out there and it is brilliant to see those works on TV, especially the tributes to Prof Chris Whitty, who appears to be a real figure of inspiration at this time. I really enjoyed Joe Lycett and Keith Lemon's art work too - both talented guys!
Playing with Fire (2019)
With all that wooden acting, not surprising there was fire.
Unfunny with wooden acting. Once you've seen the trailer, that's about as good as it gets. Good for the kids but not funny for adults.
