Ancient Aliens (2009)
Pseudoscientific Rubbish
It's basically the "History Channel at 3 a.m" meme.
No scientific evidence, completely based on hypothethical arguments and idiotic claims...
It's actually amazing that the show carried on for years.
James May: Our Man in... (2020)
Beautiful
If I were asked to give an example of something both funny, educational, exciting and respectful; I would simply name this series.
As we all know that James May is the most interesting boring man; he fuses entertainment with information and there you are.
It's something really exceptional the crew, the guides, Yujiro and James made a spectacular job.
Clarkson's Farm (2021)
Entertaining (Obviously) and Educative
One of my relatives had quite a farm in the old village and he used to invite us there. One time when I've got there, first thing I've thought about that farming is a hard and tiresome work and I'll never be interested. This series have the honour to make me feel interested in farming.
Jeremy Clarkson once said in the Grand Tour Seamen episode that he is a big blundering idiot that can't wire a plug. Well you will see him being clumsy or incompetent but he is keen on learning this stuff. It is, I think, both educative and funny.
The Death of Stalin (2017)
As good as its trailer
I can't really tell you have much I love this film. I have read a tremendous amount of books about Russian history. To be fair it's definitely not the most accurate one, yet it's maybe the most hilarious one.
The references, the satire, portrayal of characters and dialogues are just tremendous.
A great thing about this film is that they did not try to imitate a Russian accent rather went with British accent. It really made me feel like I was watching a Monty Python. Infact Michael Palin (Molotov) was a member of Monty Python.
One should also point out that the selection of the actors is beyond spectacular. Simon Russell Beale (Beria) and Jason Isaacs (Zhukov) almost stole the every scene they acted. Jeffrey Tambor's (Malenkov) performance was also brilliant and should be praised as well.
The last thing about I would like to point out that Steve Buscemi (Khrushchev) might be the last person you would expect to play this role yet he absolutely nailed it.
Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge (2001)
Memories...
It has been 20 years since its release. And I am very thankful to Westwood, the company which had released this magnificent game.
While being amazingly fun, I'd like to talk about its cinematics and storyline. One can not deny the fact that, for a game which was released in 2001 it has beyond spectacular cinematics. It's even better than most of the today's films. From Einstein to Premier Romanov, from Gen. Carwill to Yuri all the actors were tremendously good. And there is also Tanya, my childhood love :D. She is the best Tanya in the entire franchise by the way.
If it wasn't for EA this Red Alert series would be in much better shape today. It's a shame that Westwood unfortunately closed down.
Marriage Story (2019)
Realism at its finest
Don't have much to say. Portrayal of fighting parents could not be demonstrated better than this. It was genuienly spectacular.
And once again Adam Driver proved himself to be a worthy and a brilliant actor.
Hekimoglu (2019)
Between Two Entities
This series is neither a proper adaptation nor a series on its own. It's rather a unique entity with both original ideas and adaptation. Which means it should be reviewed as such.
As a Turkish series it might be one of the best Turkish TV series with intriguing scenarios and unexpectedly well acting (at least for some actors).
As an adaptation it's, unfortunately, a bad one. The most important thing that went bad is its acting. Here you can't see enough the roguishness, sarcasm and hypocrisy of House. Usage of metaphors is uncomparable. The daring, games and sincerity of House are also not well preserved. Hekimoglu here is rather a mad genius physician than being House.
The diagnostics team is rubbish. I can't even watch them. Cause it clearly can be seen that they act neither natural nor like real ones. The dialogues between themselves are horrendous. When you watch House M.D you see that the dialogues between House and his team are beyond any standard team of colleagues. In House M.D you can see that the diagnostics team is like a group of individuals with no respect to each other, easily mock themselves out and generally harshly criticise House for his unproven diagnostics.
This series reminds me of another thing about why this series is a bad adaptation: Culture. American culture and Turkish culture are pretty separate. They have almost nothing in common in many aspects of life. They differ in lifestyles, the general attitude towards anyone, traditions etcetera.
In conclusion as a Turkish series, it's 8/10, as an adaptation it's 3/10.
The thing is If you want to make a successful adaptation with so much dissimilarity between two cultures, you either adapt it properly or not do it at all. Because with this rubbish dialogues and inadequate acting, this series will never be good as the real one.
War & Peace (2016)
Unexpectedly Good
Consistent with the novel. Generally historically accurate. You can watch this first and read the novel next and you shall see how these series are consistent with the novel.
Slender Man (2018)
Well...
If you want to see a well made crappy pasta turning into a horrible movie, then you should watch. By the way, why did you have to use triangle and eye? And the girls? That was a big dissappointment. I thought they would be searching and finding papers like one in the game but instead... I mean, that was a disaster.
